I have a rental unit in Wadsworth and my tenant informed me that the fridge had stopped working. I called five places listed on Angies List to see if they could come out and look at the fridge. Only two called back, and one of them informed me I was too far out of their service area. I appreciated those responses but no one could come same day. I bought this fridge only 6 years ago at Grand Appliance in Waukegan so I figured I'd call them back to see if they could service it. They came out to the unit about 5 hours later (4:00 pm) and diagnosed the problem within 5 minutes. I cannot remember the name of the part but essentially it's the starter for the compressor. He replaced it, then discovered the thermostat blew as well. He didn't have the part but ordered it and it came in 3 business days later. He came out again that day around 4:00 and replaced the broken thermostat and the fridge works like new again. The only downside to Grand Appliance is that they have a non-refundable $99 fee to come out and look at your fridge. If they come out and tell you that it's beyond repair you still pay $99. So that jacked up my price a little bit but I was willing to pay it since I needed it fixed fast and no one else seemed interested in my business. He was very friendly, punctual and courteous. I highly recommend Grand Appliance to repair your broken appliances
Description of Work: They came out same day to diagnose my broken fridge. It was a two part issue and they had to make a return service call. They were able to replace the compressor starter immediately but needed to order my thermostat. Both were replaced within 3 business days of my initial phone call and it all works great now.

I CALLED IN THE AM AND CONFIRMED. SAT AROUND ALL AFTERNOON -- CALLED A FEW TIMES AS IT GOT LATER & LATER. WAS TOLD 3 TIMES "YOU'RE NEXT". SAW THE TRUCK DRIVE BY. THEY CAME AT 8:30 PM & NO APOLOGIES & NO EXPLANATION. I COULD HAVE WORKED!! I HAVE CALLED THE STORE 3 TIMES & LEFT MESSAGES ON THE MANAGER'S VOICE MAIL. NEVER EVEN CALLED BACK. I'LL USE A DIFFERENT STORE NEXT TIME. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.
Description of Work: I BOUGHT A REFRIGERATOR AND ARRANGED FOR DELIVERY. WE HAVE PURCHASED ALL OF OUR APPLIANCES FROM GRAND APPLIANCE IN THE PAST BECAUSE THEY ARE LOCAL. THEY USED TO BE SMALL, PERSONAL AND HAD GREAT SERVICE. NOW THEY ARE COMPUTERIZED AND COMPLICATED. THERE WAS JUST ONE DAY THAT THEY COULD DELIVER MY REFRIGERATOR AND ONLY BETWEEN NOON AND 5 PM, SO I TOOK OFF FROM WORK.
