Federal Companies

It sucked. They showed up two days early and asked if we could move our closing on our new house so they could deliver earlier due to another commitment. We managed to do this for them but on the day they were to deliver we got a message that they dropped our stuff at the warehouse and we would not receive it for another week. We were offered 2 nights in a hotel in consideration. When they did deliver we had doors and floors damaged in our brand new Home. When we unpacked we would find crystal poorly wrapped but hair gel triple wrapped. We unpacked and found kitchen ware, tools, ladders, bathroom items missing. The boxes all checked in so they must have packed it separately to furnish the new lake cottage resort they told me they were buying. We were then denied our insurance claim because all boxes that they listed were delivered. The offer for covering hotel costs for two nights took Two months and over 20 requests to be reimbursed. This move was done as a corporate move through the company. Just think how they will treat an individual. They are the worst we have ever had.

Our move required the packing, loading and moving of a 3,000 sq. foot home from IL to OH. This Company followed the schedule as planned but did not estimate the amount of packing and packing supplies that were needed. In some cases, small items were packed into very large boxes and a large amount of packing tissue was used, thus, causing "over charges" of packing supplies and costs for boxes. They promoted themselves as experienced "Piano" movers but did not wrap the baby grand piano as promised resulting in tape/pressure marks on the piano. When tape was removed, some tape had been applied directly to piano and upon removal, some of the black laminate was removed. Bicycles were taken apart after they were loaded on the truck. We not asked if they could be taken apart. When they arrived at the new home, they were put back together in a way that caused serious damage to one bicycle and serious repair to another one. The biggest problem was the THEFT OF JEWELRY that was taken from my purse and cell phone charger that was taken and later found with one of the packers who was charging his phone. A police report was made with the local Gurnee, IL Police Department and a "Statement of Claim" was made to the moving company. We completely unpacked all boxes before filing a Claim, just to make sure the jewelry was not placed in something by mistake. However, when we received the furniture and personal items at the new home in OH, we reported the theft/loss to the moving supervisor and all he could say was to file a claim. As Senior Citizens who were coordinating the move on our own (not a company relocation), we were downsizing and very overwhelmed by the process. We expected that some damage could occur (which did), but the theft was very unsettling. We felt that various "packers" tried to keep us busy while others went through my purse. We purchased insurance but the jewelry that was stolen cannot be replaced as it consisted of a wedding ring, valued mother's ring and two pair of earrings that were treasured. My advice to any Senior who may be relocating to another state to retire or live with a relative, please have someone (friend or family member) stay in the home with you during the packing process. We are very active people but at times, there were 6-8 packers/movers in our home and it was difficult keeping track of everyone. We even purchased lunch and tipped everyone. They were friendly and from the surface observation, were very respectful. We thought if we were kind that they would respect and be kind to us. The loss of the jewelry was sickening.

The service was pitiful. They showed up and the truck was almost full. They did not have room for all our stuff that they viewed and quoted.They did informe us that another truck would be at our house the next day. That is the only thing they said that was true. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They provided a competitve quote and after that they failed on every step . We finally did receive our furnture. Many items were damaged. Many items are missing and they also used a credit card that I did not authorize...( which is another legal matter). Very surprised on how bad their response is/was. Sadly, I was informed that the driver was Allied "driver of the year". If this was their best, I can't imagine how bad it could've have gone with one of their "average" drivers...
