Services we offer
Concrete raising & mudjacking for sidewalks, driveways, aprons, patios, decks, commercial building floors, garage floors, stoops, steps & pool decks, basement walls & floors, retaining walls & garages.
We are a small condo association of town homes. Our town homes were built about 15 years ago, so they have experienced some settling, as have most of the concrete slabs in the complex. We solicited three quotes and Atlas was right in the middle. As for professionalism and problem solving -- they were at the very top -- Mark was excellent in outlining the scope of work and in providing a quick turn around quote. The most professional of the three companies by far. Jack was the foreman on our job and Jack was terrific, pointed out things to watch for and specific areas of concern. Very thorough. Good communication. Everyone is very happy with the results. We will definitely use Atlas again.
Description of Work: Leveled 5 concrete slabs in front of stairway entrances. Leveled 10 concrete slabs in front of garage doors and part of a long sidewalk.

They were wonderful! I received one other bid and the price was comparable. I was really impressed with Atlas Concrete as they really explained very carefully what they were doing with the concrete. I was extremely satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: I hired them for concrete coring. They drilled out a hole and lifted concrete so that the water would be redirected around the house. They leveled the sidewalk to the front deck and lifted the concrete pad to the shed.

Atlas was hired to correct the pitch of the floor slab in our three-car garage. The slab was originally poured in 1984 and over the years had settled unevenly, causing water to flow to the sides of the garage rather than toward the center of the door. The estimating process was very professional, with the benefits and limitations of concrete lifting clearly explained. Once the bid was accepted, we received a call within two days to schedule the crew to come out to do the work. The crew was efficient and knew what they were doing - drilling holes every 3 feet about 18 inches from the outside walls and then pumping a mud slurry into each of the holes a little at a time so that the slab was slowly raised without cracking. They lifted the furthest corner by over 4 inches which greatly improved the drainage pattern. One corner near the door could not be raised because of obstruction by the garage door jamb, so we agreed to see how the overall floor performed and if it needed to be raised more, they would come out to fine tune the grade. After about a month, I contacted them about coming back out to correct the corner. They scheduled a date, arrived as promised and were able to raise that corner an additional 3/4 inch (I had modified the jamb to provide sufficient clearance). Overall, a great experience.
Description of Work: Raised garage floor slab to correct settlement issues.

Mark was very responsive in returning my calls and answering my questions. He came out to do an estimate within a few days of my original phone call, and his crew came out to do the work about a week after that. Jack and his crew of 2 helpers arrived about 60-90 minutes later than I was expecting (10am actual vs 8:30-9am), since they apparently had to drive the opposite direction to Antioch to pick up more cement (and then drive over an hour to Evanston). However, once they showed up, they were absolutely fantastic. Jack discussed the plan with me at the beginning, and was very responsive and professional when I interrupted him a few times during the work to make sure they knew which parts were the most important to me (namely raising the front step and correcting the major trip hazard where the tree root had lifted up the sidewalk). It was neat to watch the slabs just raise up as they pumped cement through the newly drilled holes. They did a great job of patching the holes and they encouraged me to look at all of their work before paying them when they were done. It took only 3 hours and I was able to do an errand in between while they were working. They ended up raising a couple extra slabs without charging me, since it just wouldn't have looked right without that. It rained a lot that night and my wife and I ended up having to walk on the sidewalk that night several times in the dark, but the patched holes were unaffected and still look great, despite Jack's warning to be careful the first couple days or so (surface crusted within a couple hours on that sizzling 90 degree day apparently). Our sidewalk, albeit a bit darker from 50 years of weathering, looks almost brand new now, and this was MUCH cheaper than putting in a whole new sidewalk (at least $3-4K). Mark will not lead you wrong or try to sell you anything he can't deliver on. Overall, I was extremely pleased. I would definitely recommend Atlas Concrete Lifting to anyone.
Description of Work: The Atlas crew realigned parts of a 90 foot sidewalk by making the slabs line up correctly again where some had sunk and one had been lifted up by a tree root. They also slanted most of the slabs just slightly away from the house, where they had been slanting toward the house (inch or two lower on the side closest to the house). They also lifted the front step (very thick slab) by about 2 inches and returned the step to its original condition (had sunk 2-3 inches over 60 years), and lifted a couple slabs at the far end by 1-2 inches so they're not slanting downward quite as much (had sunk a couple inches in the wettest area at the back).

I wasn't home but my neighbor told me that they were incredible to watch. They were recommended by another concrete company that I called from Angie's List (because I needed a less expensive option for leveling my sidewalk and steps). They gave me a great estimate and met all expectations. On time. Every thing was nice and clean when I returned home. Professional interactions around the estimate and billing. Couldn't be happier with how it looks. Nicely surprised

I submitted a request online for a quote. Someone came out quickly and dropped a quote with my wife, gave his opinions of the work required, but didn't try to pressure us into anything on the spot. I contacted another company for a quote who never came out so I ended up mailing back the signed proposal to Atlas. They called to confirm the appointment and showed up on time. There was a crew of two guys who got down to work quickly and put up with my curiosity and intrigue to see some mud lift up a concrete block and man standing on it. It was cool to watch. They drilled the minimum number of holes needed, jacked up the pad to proper level and drainage, patched the drill holes and did a thorough clean up. You can't ask for more than that. They are clearly professionals at what they do. I would use them again if I had another need.

We have a series of four 5' x 4' steps leading up to a large covered stoop to our front door. It is all one piece made of aggregate cement. Due to chipmunks burrowing underneath, one of the steps had sunk so badly, it cracked in half, with one half almost 2" lower than the other - a major tripping hazard - and a 1-2" gap between the pieces. Due to the design and material, we cannot simply replace one step; we'd have to replace them all, at a cost of over $9,000. The guy who came for the estimate was up front with us and said that while they could make the two pieces level again, they could not fix the crack (it being so large was a liability issue and difficult because it was aggregate) and they would have to charge us a minimum fee. Since we were mostly concerned with the tripping hazard and preventing damage to the other steps had it continued to collapse downward, we agreed. Atlas came out and raised the sunken part so that the two pieces of the step are now level with one another. They were very efficient, cleaned up after themselves and did a nice job filling in the drilled holes to look like the surrounding aggregate. If it weren't for the crack, you would never know there had been a problem. They also took the time to give us advice on products and methods for us to fill the crack ourselves. If we aren't happy with the end result, at least the steps will be level, which gives us the option to later have the entire staircase covered with flagstones or a stamped concrete layer instead of replacing the whole thing. Overall, very happy.

The estimator, Mark, responded to my call the same day and came to the appointment we made on time. He was very friendly and gave the lowest quote of the three companies I called, even adding an Angie's List discount although it was a small job. 2 days later they called to set up a time to do the work. They came on time. As I watched them do the work, the workmen explained the process and were very polite. They did the job in about a half an hour and left my property clean. Mark came by later in the afternoon to check the job and see if I was satisfied. The sidewalk looks great and I am pleased with the work they did.
Description of Work: Our front walkway heaved during the hot summer. Atlas came and leveled out 3 sections of sidewalk. They drilled two holes in each piece of concrete pumped in a mixture to level the sidewalk. Then they filled the holes with concrete and cleaned up.

No job performed, just an honest evaluation of the potential job.
Description of Work: I called Atlas Concrete and Lifting for a quote on mud jacking a 10' x 29' covered porch. The owner Mark arranged the appointment to fit my schedule and was on time. He went over the site and concluded I did not need his services, that my porch was just fine as is. He pointed out how the heavy brick arches were actually supported on a foundation below the surface concrete. I really appreciate honest businessmen like Mark that tell the truth instead of going ahead with an unnecessary job that would cost hundreds of dollars. If I ever need any mud jacking in another area Mark will be my first call.

Overall the process went very smoothly. Atlas came out early on the 5th and performed the work. It was nice that I didn't need to take the day off from work in order for this service to be completed. The only thing an Atlas customer needs to keep in mind is they do not accept credit cards for payment. It surprised me that I had to pay by check.

Mark came out to submit a quote within a day, and he promptly called to clarify the quote and offer to return to assess another area that was also sinking. He wanted to give an appropriate quote, so he drilled a couple of holes, that were not obvious, to determine the integrity of the support structure under the walk. He gave me the "good news" that there was enough support below the cement and that the repair would be successful. He also reiterated the possibility of the one, small, cracked area, further cracking and necessitating replacement. He was prompt, friendly, and honest in his assessment. I never felt pressured. That evening, the office called and said they had a cancellation and could do the job the next day. I agreed. The man in charge of the actual work was Jack--really! The mud-jacker was Jack. He was very nice, on time and performed an amazing job. The questionable cracked area did not crack, and the walk looks wonderful. You can hardly notice the few holes they drilled, and Jack filled each hole with pebbles to replicate the existing aggregate. Great job, reliable and good price.
Description of Work: The aggregate cement walkway leading up to my house had shifted and cracked over the couple of decades of its life. In fact, there was a small "step" in one section that was a dangerous tripping area since the entire expanse was supposed to be level Mark from Atlas said he could even it out with the mud-jacking process. There was one cracked area which he could not guarantee would not crack further with the drilling process, but this was fully explained to me prior to the job.

Garage slab cracked in three places and two portions began sliding towards the alley. If nothing had been done, it probably would have damaged or destroyed the garage. They drilled holes in the concrete and injected concrete under pressure into the holes. They then cleaned up the garage floor. They do not fill in the cracks, but explained what I would need to do in the spring to fill the cracks myself with concrete filler from the hardware store.
Description of Work: They mudjacked the garage floor to prevent a cracked slab from moving. They were very clear that there are no guarantees with mudjacking. It may work well or not at all. They seemed knowledgeable and capable. The work was performed well and cleanup was appropriate.
