Everything seemed great until I signed the contract & work began. Even though they advertise HBA assoc. they did not follow the procedure of a clear contract, mine wasn't signed by the builder.I was not given a copy of Know your rights.The work is very shoddy,I have 9' ceilings and the contract reads 9" ceilings,he dropped it to just over 7' in my bathroom and hallway (for no reason) other than to save money and materials.He wanted some payment in cash,did not get a building permit. The drywallers (didn't speak English} made a huge mess.One of the walls was drywalled that was not suppose to be drywalled,the next day they came back and tore it all off and left the mess,no attempt to clean up.Jon told me before I signed the contract that workers would clean up daily.Scheduled days to work and didn't show up or call.I told him after this all went on for a couple of weeks and $14000.that I no longer wanted him to work for me. He has been impossible to deal with. I have reported him to HBA and State of Illinois, he cannot account for the money I paid him. I was warned about his reputation by several people,I should have listened.

We're currently using them and so far they're excellent! They're just over and above, all the other general contractors that we interviewed were like, "Here is the house. This is what you're going to get. That will cost you more." These guys have sat down and taken the time. We have met with them every week for a year, like hours and hours and hours. He has been through every detail with me. Everything is open book, open bid and honest. The work is excellent. I can't rave enough about him! There was one mistake that was made about joist spacing. We said we wanted 12-inch on-center. They came and put them on 16-inch on-center which is really standard in the construction industry. But I said, "Hey, we've got to fix this" and he is like, "Oh! My gosh. Honest mistake, totally my fault. I'll correct it at my expense" and that was never an issue again. You'll never find a general contractor that's outstanding. He emails probably everyday with updates. He is very detail oriented. They're just outstanding.
