I had been wanting to replace the faded vinyl shutters on my second story for quite some time and decided to use the Snap Fix ap. Tha Angie's List rep responded quickly acknowledging my request and advising I would be contacted by a service provider. Alan and Carol of Home Fixers emailed me the same day and we scheduled an appointment. Home FIxers was great in following up with me. Since it was a small job, they would fit me in as their schedule permitted which was okay with me. They contacted me by both email and phone on a friday to let me know Roy would be at my home on Saturday between 9 and 10. Roy arrived a little before 9 and was finished with the job before 9:30. The shutters look great and I will definitely be contacting Home Fixers again for their Handyman services.
Description of Work: Removed old shutters from second story window and installed replacements.

Thank you very much for your very nice feedback. We realize that our customers lead busy lives and we try our best to accommodate their needs. We realize good communication and follow-through are a must. You were also great by providing us a clear picture of what you wanted to get done. That made out job even easier. Thanks again! Home Fixers was great, if not the best home improvement company I;ve ever worked with. Never thought I would be excited to start another home improvement or maintenance project, but Dan at Home Fixers does such great work I am actually looking forward to it. We decided to take the front room of our home which consisted of nothing more than one long room the entire width of the house (original dining room/entry/living room), and turn it into real, usable space since we have a great room addition across the back and don't need unusable living room space. We had Dan from Home Fixers build a new, multi-angle wall down the middle that formed a foyer and a dining room on one side, and then on the other side formed a new closet and a guest bedroom. The craftsmanship was unbelievable, I've never seen drywall done with no real need to sand because the mud was so good. And the double sliding closet doors were perfect, along with everything else. It was better than new, the corners were perfect. The base mouldings and shoe was perfectly cut, along with the trim. Top notch from beginning to end. As for the balusters, our stairs present no small task. Our original handrail was installed not parallel to the steps, so you have the rail and the stairs ascending at different angles, making installing balusters at a perfect 90 degrees impossible for an amatuer like me. Not for Dan though, he came by on a SUNDAY morning to finish them and they turned out perfect. Dan was there every morning with his truck at 7:45A, waiting for us to waive him in or until 8A when he would knock. He worked non-stop until 4 or 5 each evening, every day. No dissapearing contractor running off to another job, just guys here to work until the job is done, and done right. I really didn't expect this great level of service and craftsmanship, especially on a week's long job, from a company primarily doing home repair. Their prices were fair, if not the best, and their craftsmanship better than the professional contractors and pro-remodelors I used on my two high-end ($50,000+) bathrooms.
Description of Work: - Build a non-load bearing wall to creat a foyer, dining room, and guest bedroom - Build guest bedroom closet with double sliding doors and shelf/hanging rod - Install new balusters on stairs with existing handrail and trim that are not parallel

[member name removed]--It's not 1955 anymore! The price we charged you was very fair. Most other companies would have charged you $300 for this work. You wanted a licensed, bonded and insured company. Yes, you probably could have gotten a "trunk slammer" for less (as soon as he closes his trunk you will never see him again), but you hired a reputable company. Isn't that why you joined Angie's List? Thanks for your feedback.

Hans came out and gave me an estimate, and he came back a week later to perform the mailbox installation. He was able to repair and use the existing post to attach the new mailbox. This is after a mailbox company told me that they could not use the existing post, and that I would have to buy a new post from them for $277 and pay another $145 just for the post to be installed! I was then going to have to pay for a new mailbox and another $40 for them to put it on the post! The Handyman Connection saved me money and did a great job. They even painted the post for me! Would definitely use them again.

I called on 8-13-13 and explained that I was in a hurry to replace some fascia board due to the selling of my house. Someone from the company called on Friday that they were very busy and changed the day to estimate the job from Friday 8-16-13 to Monday 8-19-13 at 5pm. Tony showed up Friday and was in a hurry ,he looked from the ground and the boards that were at the top of the house and gave my an estimate. Then he wrote of the estimate and said that if I needed this done this week ( before the closing of my house on 8-23-13)then I would have to sign now to get it done. I was told that everything was going to work out and he would send 3 guys to make sure it was done Wednesday 8-21-13 by 5pm. I left the board outside and with 5 tubes of caulk and left the house at 10am without seeing anybody show up. I stopped by around 1pm to see how things were going and I did find 2 workers had replaced some of the boards and they said that they would be done in a couple of hours. I returned back at the house around 3:30pm and the workers were gone and most of the work was done. There was 4 tubes of caulk left and there were spots that were not caulked at all. I called Tony and asked him why the boards were not caulked and he said he would swing by the next morning after an appointment around 8:30am. The next morning I waited till 9:15 and called Tony on my way to work and he said that he was 20 minutes away. When I came back home that evening there was only 1 tube of caulk left and the board that were replaced were caulked. I noticed that there was still some areas of existing boards that touched the board that was replaced that were not caulked. I did risk my life and climb on the roof and make these last minute repairs and painted the other boards that needed it but Tony did not put in the estimate and did not do. I wish that Tony wasn?t in so much of a hurry to get a job and actually notice what the whole job was. I did call the company twice once after the workers left on Wednesday and I was told to call Tony. I did call again after the job was done and I was told that the workers would only caulk the board that they replaced and I should have asked about the painting. At the closing on this house I did find out that Tony did talk to the new buyers and told them he was complete with the repairs that he was supposed to do and gave them his card to finish the rest.
Description of Work: The estimate was to replace some rotten facia and soffit boards labor only. I was provided a supply list of boards that needed to be painted and left out.

Normally, we try to respond to our negative reports in a positive and open-minded manner. Sometimes, however, it is important just to explain what really happened. In this case, the homeowner needed to complete some exterior rotted wood repairs due to the pending sale of their home. Naturally, they waited until the last minute to call our company and now it was an emergency (they probably knew about this for months). This is our busy season and we did our best to complete the work in a timely manner. Painting was clearly never included in the estimate as the homeowner wanted to save money and do it themselves. They also cut corners and only wanted to replace a few boards, when more were needed. The homeowner was extremely stressed due to the pending sale of their home, and we took the brunt of it. I’m sorry, but we feel there was no justification for the review that we were given. It is simply a case of someone trying to be vindictive and not taking responsibility for their own actions.

Ken from Handyman Connections was great! Three of the four items were simple jobs that were executed with ease. However, the bathroom vent fan replacement ended up being much more difficult than expected due to a need for electrical work. However, he quickly figured out the issue and executed a fantastic job. The increased work required an increase of the quoted price but it was more than reasonable and fully discussed and approved before the work was done. I will definitely reach out to Ken in the future if other work arises. Cheers!
Description of Work: The services provided were the following jobs: 1. Remove and replace bathroom vent fan in Hall Bath (including re-wire, remove & repair ceiling drywall, etc. --- no painting) 2. Replace Shower Fixture in Master Bath 3. Repair Cabinet Door in Master Bath (repair worn out hing and screw holes) 4. Repair sliding screen door on back door

We had a deck ripped off to install a Patio and had some significant wood rot. Needed to get it done and this service was the first available. They sent out Roy and he and his assistant did a great job, I felt the price was a little high but needed to get it done right away to complete the patio and could not wait for other quotes ( They did cut through an electrical conduit/wire replacing one of the boards, once discovered handyman connection sent out an electrician to repair with not hassle. Will call them again to get quotes on other work and will use if the price is comparable to other quotes
Description of Work: Replaced rotten exterior wood siding
This was a fairly large job, and it lasted about a week and a half. As is typical with Handyman Connection, I bought all the materials, and they were delivered to my address. Anthony helped starting even before then, though. I drew a rough design of how I wanted the bookcase built under the stairs, and when it was all said and done the built unit was extremely close to the roughly-drawn sketch. Anthony is really a carpenter, and specializes in this type of work. I showed him where I wanted some new outlets installed, and we discussed how he would install the new conduit. He cut the carpet away from the wall, and installed the base plate into the concrete floor, and then went from there. Anthony installed an access panel (also salvaged) near my main water line, and did a nice job here. He worked around the base of a bay window very effectively. He built a soffit for a heating/cooling duct above the second bookshelf, and this turned out well. The paint looked good, and he gave me a good estimate of the materials I would need. A couple of times he picked up small items himself and bought them but always saved the receipt and gave it to me (I reimbursed him in cash for these small purchases). When I asked Anthony to make small adjustments, he did so. For example, the drywall that he installed on one of the glass block windows abutted the window itself (not on its side). I asked him to angle it so that the drywall terminated at the side of the window and he did this to my satisfaction. He and his son cleaned up well after the job was done. He installed two can lights on one side of the room, and a wall fixture with a switch on another. This turned out great. Also one overhead light near the center of the room. All electrical work was done well. I wondered why he did not leave a small gap between the masonry wall and the wall framing but I did not ask him about this and I trust that this is acceptable practice. The only problems we ran into were relatively minor. For the first three days, Anthony showed up significantly later than he told me he would, and my wife had to reschedule an appointment because of this. Also I had to change my plans and I would have appreciated some notice from Anthony as to why he was late and when he truly expected to arrive. I am not talking about 5 or 10 minutes, either, this was more than an hour and in one case an hour and a half. However, once I called Alan this problem was resolved. The other item was that I had wanted an electrical box installed in a wall cavity with an access panel and he either forgot to do it or neglected to, and instead placed the box on top of the framing, in front of my sill beam.
Description of Work: Anthony finished part of our basement, including framing, insulation, drywall, some electrical, and trimwork. He built two bookcases - one under the staircase, and one adjoining a masonry wall. He primed the walls and installed two salvaged doors where I had requested. He also installed some salvaged wood in places where I had requested. He worked with his son, and I was very pleased with how the work turned out.

Handyman Connection sent a handyman named Dan Kaufman who did a great job. I was so impressed with his work, I'll definitely have him back to do more. The woodwork and wall patching he did while mounting the 2x4s for the shelving and kayak hoist was beautiful and he spent time with me afterwards testing the hoist and showing me the best way to use it. His cleanup was impressive (particularly since I told him he didn't have to do it at all since it was the annual spring garage clean up day). I will definitely use Handyman Connection again, and as real estate attorney, I will be recommending this company to my own clients who need help. They also applied a coupon without my having to ask for it (as I forgot about the Angie's List coupon!). The work was great, they kept the same estimated price even though the work took longer than they expected, and the work was outstanding. And Alan and his team at the Handyman Connection kept me well informed about Dan's arrival schedule so I knew exactly when he'd be showing up (since he had a job before ours). Great experience for a great price!

Excellent. I previously had my roof replaced because of old age and water had leaked through the garage ceiling leaving the plaster board rotten an falling down. Also, much of the decorative wood on the front of the house had rotted due to exposure Previous owner ran water pipes to an addition through the attic which kept freezing so I previously had the pipes re-run along the ceiling and purchased a chase to cover them. Tony and his team did a beautiful job of installing the beam, repairing the ceiling and fixing all the rotten wood. In addition, they cut down an old basketball backboard that had been on the front of the garage for about 30 years. The ceiling in the garage was installed after the backboard removing all access to interior bolts. They did all work while I was at work and cleaned up after themselves as well, Something I'm not really used to. Once I can accumulate additional funding, I have plenty of more work for them.
Description of Work: Patch hole in drywall ceiling in garage Install 17" chase over visible water pipes in addition Rebuild 4 decorative beams under eaves on front of hour Replace one full board along roof line peak on front of garage Remove 40 year old basketball backboard from above garage door.
