+ -1 moreI picked out a door and put a down a downpayment. I had to follow up a few times to see if the door had come in. When the installer came they had ordered the wrong door. I had to wait 6 weeks for another. A piece broke off the door latch. I have had to follow up serveral times to get it fixed. The product is fine, their service is not.

+ 0 moreOne of our homes previous home owners fancied themselves as handy and after an install of some upstairs windows we saw the craftsmen of Tobin Windows and Doors bringing down load after load of framing. Enough lumber to build a barn was one comment. Another statement was that whoever installed the windows had spent as much in materials as for the window units themselves. We were thrilled with the new vista offered by the bigger windows and enjoy the warmth and sunlight so hard to find in the dull and dreary autumn and winter seasons. The crew is also understanding of our eldest girl (a 14 year old Airedale) who insisted on supervising the job. We are warmer, more secure thanks to the work of Eugene Tobin, Gerard Tobin and the rest of the family and crew of Tobin Windows and Doors.
Description of Work: In our drafty old house we were watching money fly out the windows and doors until we met the good folks of Tobin Windows & Doors. We have worked with them most recently on replacing two rooms of windows and have in the past had them do additional rooms and doors both in our home and our detached garage. Our home was built in the 1940's to the standard sizes of the time. Of course those standards have changed so nothing fits off the rack. Eugene Tobin came in and assessed the situation and recommended the right type of window so we could retain the charm of the original woodwork without resorting to gutting the openings and our budget. His time and devotion to saving the existing sound structure was what sold us. Other sales reps (note not salesmen in the best use of the word) wanted to size our job to their product and not the other way around. We have one last set of windows and are looking forward (with misty eyes) to this as the windows and doors installed previously are doing a great job keeping us warm and dry against the worst Chicagoland winters have thrown against us. I have recommended them to friends and visitors alike.

+ -1 moreIt took six weeks to get a painter to paint the door and by then it was too cold to do the outside. After many phone calls and excuses it took another six weeks to get my storm door hyung and the door caulked. The caulk job was poorly done.It has been seven months and I still don't have the door recaulked and painted. They rarely return calls and constantly make excuses.
Description of Work: Installed front door an sidlights. Job was completed on time. However they did not caulk the door at installation saying they would do it after the painter painted the door.

+ 0 moreThe window leaks (water pours through it}. They took bricks out to install the window. The masonry guy walked off the job and it took them 3 months to get him to come back and fix them. Because the window leaks it has ruined the window seat and plaster. I have tried to get them to resolve it. They came out once and told me it was my roof. My roofing guy came out and said that it wasn't the roof, but the company didn't caulk properly around the window.
Description of Work: They came to install a bay window and a door.

+ -1 moreThe experience was terrible. They did some damage and never came back to fix it. I had to hire someone else to come in and fix their work. Anyone considering using them should be extremely aware of this experience. They wouldn't return phone calls.

+ -1 more2 of the entry doors purchased are big heavy 2 1/4 inch thick wood doors. Delivery guy shows up with no help to unload doors. Homeowner has to help delivery guy unload doors from truck. Installers botch up installation of all three doors. Doors and frames out of plane and do not close correctly. After repeated attempts to contact Tobin and no return phone calls, Tobin takes over two weeks to finally return to fix doors. Tobin again botches up door project including installing garage door closer on the wrong side of door. Tobin claims that they will be back to ''fix'' screw up on garage door and insists on homeowner paying balance due. In good faith, homeowner pays balance. Tobin never returns to fix damage to garage door and will not return phone calls. Additionally, Tobin botches up the finishing of the doors leaving stain and varnish smears on doors. Ignoring repeated requests, Tobin never returns to fix door finish fiasco. I could go on but running out of words.
Description of Work: Purchase and installation of 2 new entry doors, 1 new garage access door with hydraulic door closer and 3 new Baldwin lock sets. All doors are to be fully installed and finished.

+ -1 moreVERY HELPFUL IS SELECTING BEST WINDOWS. DID VERY GOOD JOB OF REMOVING OLD DOORS, INSTALLING NEW WINDOWS. CAREFULL TO MATCH EXISTING MOLDING AND EXTERIOR SIDING EVEN THOUGH BOTH WERE HARD TO FIND OR CUSTOM. WHAT REALLY STOOD OUT WAS THE 3 WINDOWS AND DOORS THEY DID SMALL FIX UP JOBS ON FOR FREE, INCLUDING MATERIALS AND ANDERSEN ACCESSORIES.
Description of Work: REPLACED 12FT SLIDING GLASS DOOR WITH 12 FT OF WINDOWS.
