I reached out to Thermal Craft on a Sunday afternoon. By 8:30am on Monday morning I had a returned phone call from Chris in the office - she's great. By Thursday Barry was at my house ready to talk. I walked him through the different pieces of the project we're looking at. He had suggestions for me, including things I could do to NOT have replace a certain window or door. I find even the simplest projects overwhelming and don't have time to run around and think of everything, I also don't want a million choices. I like it when someone says 'here are two suggestions I have based on what you're telling me" and that's exactly what Barry did. It was also important the we be able to chunk the projects to purchase over time, but to know now how much it would cost. Barry was great about that in crafting the proposal. When we got down to selection on the doors we went back and forth over a few things and Barry was really patient, got out his tape measure and helped me visualize where the door would be different, where the window would be on the door, where the peep hole could go, etc. He also explained the collateral construction that would happen, meaning all the components of the existing windows/doors that would have to be removed, and how the the new material would look different. Barry also did a great job of listening to my needs for each portion of this project. What we need in our child's room windows is different than what we're looking for in the basement. He spent more time listening to the project details and questions I had then he did on talking to me about what he was going to charge or sell me. It was pretty straight forward when we got to money. I didn't feel at all pressured or like I was being convinced or pushed. It was more like "here's what I think, here's your quote, let us know if we can help once you've got your other estimates'. Bottom line, you're going to get quick service, very professional and friendly, knowledgeable. If you like to support family owned/operated businesses this is one of those. If you want a buffet of brand options that's not what they do. There is plenty of style/options/bells & whistles within their brand but they don't promote multiple brands of windows and doors. I liked this because I don't want to have to make a million decisions. We are still deciding on what/when we'll do the replacement. Will update the review once we decide.

Barry came out to give estimate on a large bay window but told us it was a waste of money to replace it because it just needed glass. AN HONEST SALESMAN!!! Unheard of! We gave him the business of everything else that needed to be done because he was such a standup gentleman!!

Thermalcraft was a joy to do business with from start to finish. The company is family owned/operated and the person who provided the quote was Barry Nelligan. Price was reasonable and I was on a deadline. The arrival of the windows and completion of the project came in sginificantly early. Thermalcraft's installers were extremely professional and neat, easy to commuicate with, fast and efficient. Work was completed in one day. Quality of the windows and the job were/are excellent. Having dealt with another window installer in Chicago in the past, and having had a rather poor experience with them, I would not hesitate to recommend Thermalcraf to anyone seeking quality vinyl window replacements.

. I use THERMALCRAFT last year. They are great. We have replaced all our windows and sliding doors. They are really professional and they are easy to deal with.

They were polite professional and timely. We went with someone else because we liked there product more.

Cary showed up on time, spent over 5 hours inspecting the single family house, and provided us with a 52 page inspection report within 48 hours.

Overall, everything was a very positive experience. It was a very good quality installation. I am very happy with the quality of windows as well. I have already recommended them to a family member, and they hired them. They are as happy as well.

I've called this company twice for assistance with some basic window repair. Although Thermalcraft didn't offer the services that I needed (window grouting and glass replacement), each time I received a very prompt and friendly response. They didn't try to pressure me into buying services that I didn't need, rather, Barry Nelligan offered me some less expensive suggestions that would be a better solution for my window problems. Very impressive service that I hope one day to be able to use!

They were excellent. He did arrive and they had a catalogue where we can look at certain aspect of the door and was very good and when they came to install it, it was very quick and they were great. The only negative thing was that we did order the door and said they'll give us a ring when it's in stock but we actually had to phone them to follow-up and it has been a couple of days. It was just a minor thing but I think they should have called and let us know. I think their price was excellent. They showed us options for a fiber glass or wooden doors and then we went for the fiber glass because it was a little bit cheaper and also because it was more durable. The quality was excellent.

As stated above, every part of the process was done exactly as described and the personnel were easy to work with.

Thermalcraft did an outstanding job from the initial estimate to completion. I even had to come have them come out to give a second estimate for additional service and they were able to quickly come back. They were on time, responsive, professional, and did an amazing job on the window replacement and door replacement. They cleaned up any mess made during installation. Thermalcraft did an amazing job and I completely recommend them.

lace the original windows & doors from the 1950's. I have a 3-bedroom raised ranch brick home in the NW suburbs.The job was finished in two days. They were efficient, professional and they cleaned up well, hauling away the old windows, doors and misc. stuff. The job looked great, however a few days later the temperature outside went from the 20's to mid 60's and i noticed the back door was tighter and opening and closing it was not as smooth. I called thermalcraft to discuss this issue. I suggested that i can probably make the adjustment myself and the rep in an urgent voice said "Don't touch the door! We will send out our professional tomorrow." I guess they didn't want me to screw up there good work. Sure enough Ronnie came out the next day and made this minor adjustment in about 5 minutes. Everything is now perfect and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Angies List and great job Thermalcraft. I would highly recommend this company. Phil E.

The experience was really great. They were very professional. They did the work in a timely manner. The windows are high quality. I really have nothing to compare their price to.

They gave us an accurate estimate. Once the windows were ready, they came on time and installed them quickly. My questions were answered as they went along. We would definitely call them again.

Barry came out to give me a quote, and with a little haggling the price seemed fair. Their process is that they type things onto a computer and give you a printed estimate, but in reality this is mostly schtick since they are just typing on a pdf... the window price seemed largely uncorrelated to the size of the window, and this process could have gone a bit quicker. Once i decided to go with Thermalcraft, his initial measurements for the estimate weren't accurate enough, so he had to come back a second time. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a time inconvenience. 45 days later, the windows arrive, and they got to work. Overall they did a very nice job, especially considering i had some difficult windows that were oversized, and an old building with inconsistent drywall and a dryvit facade. the previous double-hung windows did not work well in the front, so we split it into 3 windows that work much better. their manufacturer, alside, wouldn't even make windows that large (probably because they would fail). the only inconvenience of the service was that, once complete, we had to find a painter to come paint all the trim in the house. not really thermalcraft's fault, but one more step and expense to the process. As mentioned, they sell Alside windows, which are generally reviewed OK online. Hopefully they hold up, and if there are problems hopefully they honor the warranty. These aren't the Pella or Anderson windows of your dreams, but they also aren't in that price range. For my wicker park rental building, they were perfect.

They were great. They were right on time. They were clean and they tidy up the place. Everything was positive. Nothing went wrong. They offer a competitive price.

Obtained 2 quotes from highly rated Angies List service providers. In addition to replacing windows, we were trying to decide whether to combine some double hung windows together into larger picture/double hung windows to get more light into the room. Jim from Thermalcraft was extremely helpful by providing quotes for several options and was very willing to combine the windows. I also shared our concern about issues, such as drafts, that might occur some time after the installation ... Jim addressed this concern and provided a 10 year labor warranty. If we chose the exact same window configuration, Thermalcraft's bid was higher but they were installing a more energy efficient window, (Sheffield made by Alside), with an upgraded glass option, Climatec Elite. The quote from the second service provider was for Excaliber made by Alside with a 5 year installation warranty but they were somewhat reluctant to change the window configuration. Mindful that the new thermal windows have thicker frames and less glass than our old wood windows, we decided to combine some windows to gain as much light as possible in the home. This option also significantly reduced the cost of the entire project because even though there was additional construction costs and larger windows, we only needed to buy 11 instead of 17 windows. The entire installation process was very professional. The installers, Peter and Dave arrived when promised, worked efficiently, were very careful of our newly finished floors and cleaned everything up. The home is 90 years old with original wood trim and Peter did a great job with preserving the woodwork. Since six mullions were removed leaving gaps in the sill and header, he used the finished wood from the removed mullions and spliced / installed a second smaller sill covering the gaps. It makes it look like a frame. Great carpentry! The job took 1 1/2 days with lots of other challenges including bringing up a large picture window to the second floor through a narrow stairwell and the additional challenges of a "settled" old building. These folks are obviously very experienced in problem solving and worked well together. Dave even washed the second floor picture window on the outside since he said it would probably be a while before we would have a chance to do that. The windows look absolutely fantastic! We are thrilled with both the windows and the installation. We highly recommend Thermalcraft, A+++. I have attached before and after pictures and hopefully my pictures do the windows justice. We wanted to keep the same warm "look" inside despite installing larger windows. We are extremely pleased...the wood trim color on the inside of the windows was a great match and looks fantastic!

I wanted to replace the original windows and entry door of my residence. I selected three highly reviewed Angie's List contractors and had the estimate for me the work. All three came in with close bids relative to the others; but Thermalcraft quoted the highest quality windows for the same cost as the others. The install crew did a great job. I am very happy, would use them again definitely.

I called Thermalcraft to get a quote on the installation of a fiberglass entry door. Barry called me back to setup up a time and visited our place a few days later to review the scope of work. Barry provided a quote at the end of the visit. We reviewed Barry's quote along with other quotes from well-rated Angie's list vendors. Barry's price was competitive. I informed Barry that we had chosen Thermalcraft for the project a few days later and he emailed me the next day a contract to sign. We made a $500 deposit and the door was ordered. Barry informed me it would take about 4-6 weeks to get the door from the manufacturer. When Thermalcraft received the door, Barry emailed me to schedule the installation. His crew came to install the door the following Saturday morning. The crew reviewed the scope of work with us to make sure they understood correctly what had to be done regarding the alarm sensor, the existing trim and the replacement of the lock. They covered the way to the stairway with a plastic sheet to prevent the cold weather from entering the house. They did an excellent job and cleaned the site when done. Barry stopped by during the installation to confirm the work was progressing as expected and we were satisfied. Barry charged the remaining balance on the contract a few days later as agreed. We are very satisfied with Thermalcraft's quality of work, price and professionalism and intend to use them again in the future.

Got a few quotes but Thermalcraft had the best price. In fact one estimate I got from Evergreen Door and Window told me it wasn't a standard size and would have to be a custom door and would be about $4000. What a joke because it was a standard size. They actually told me the door wouldn't be in until around thanksgiving but I got a call that it was in earlier so that was great. The installers did a great job and cleaned up when they were done. I even recommend them to a neighbor and she had them do her windows and she was very pleased too...with the price and the work. I would definitely use them again.

This is the second time I've used Thermal Craft. Previous year, I had them replace the 4 worst windows in our house. This time, I had them replace the next 6 worse which is the living room. Used to be able to feel the difference just walking in the room. Now with the new windows, that room is actually a little warmer than other rooms. I had one of the vents shut now to even on the temp with the rest of the house. Guys showed up before 8 and setup outside, then got to work right away. Took a break for lunch and had the windows completed in 6 hours. Not bad considering the largest of the windows was near the top of the vaulted ceiling and it was in the 20's outside. Dont' be afraid to get windows replaced in winter. Yes, it was cold while they removed the 3 front windows, but that only last for 1-2 hours and I was able to go upstairs in a bedroom and stay warm until the new windows were installed. The cleanup efforts were good. They brought their own vacuum cleaner and even outside they put down covers. Excellent work just like the first time around. We'll continue to use them until all our 20 year old windows are replaced.

After searching through Angie's list, Thermalcraft Inc. caught my eye. I read all the reviews and was very impressed. On 7/11/12, I sent an email to Thermalcraft requesting for an estimate. I was very pleased that I received a phone call from one of the owners, Mr. Barry Nelligan same day. We made an appointment for an estimate. Barry arrived as scheduled. He did the measuring and gave me the quote. He was very pleasant, friendly and professional. I told him that I have to let him know of my decision after I finished with my 2 other estimates. I chose Thermalcraft. On 7/21/12, I personally stopped by their show room in Villa Park , saw their floor samples and I signed the contract. Barry said it will take 6-8 weeks for my order to be ready. It was less than 8 weeks and I received a call from Barry that the windows/doors arrived and ready for installation. I set the appointment for Sept 10-11, 2012 (2 days installation). Two persons (Mr. Dave and Peter) arrived promptly to install. On the 2nd day work was completed . I was very pleased. My townhouse suddenly looked almost brand new. Windows were nice, good quality and so easy to operate. Both Dave and Peter were nice, professional and they really worked hard. Their work was thorough, neat and just perfect. I can tell that they really put their hearts and expertise to make sure the client is happy and pleased. I could not have been happier with the results. I highly recommend this company. My overall experience with Thermalcraft was wonderful. This company really cares about their customers. They are honest and no pressure at all. Now I understand why they get so many awards in Angie's list. To: Barry, Dave, Peter and your families.. Very courteous and professional from start to finish. The windows are beautiful. Very happy with the outcome.

The entire experience with Thermalcraft was positive. Barry come out in the spring to measure and provide a quote - and left a print out of the exact quote with us that day! Something no other company had done. He was down to earth, personable, and I liked his "no pressure" sales technique. We went to their showroom a week later to see some windows in person, and Barry followed up a couple of times afterward to see if we had any further questions. In September, we were ready to place our order - and Barry assured us that his quote was still valid. We were having our siding replaced as well due to storm damage - so they worked with us to schedule a quick installation date, prior to the siding installation so that the disruption would be minimal. The installers did a great job - overall a great experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Thermalcraft to others. In fact, I already have! By the way - while the window installers were here - we had a sales rep showing us new blinds for our new windows. This sale rep had also used Thermalcraft to install a couple replacement windows in his home. He told the installer that one of his windows was damaged due a to a beebee gun - and the installer told him to contact the sales rep to explain the situation. He did, and they replaced his window free of charge. The sales rep from the blind company called me right afterwords, to tell me I chose the right window company - true to their word and warranty! Great company and great people.
