Service Express Heating & Air Conditioning

This company needs a new phone person. I dread every time I need to call for a service due to Sherry. She talks to you like you’re stupid. Arguing with me over a voicemail confirmation that I never received. Just checked my voicemails and yup never received a voicemail on 11/16/24. Service techs are great has nothing to do with that. But honestly if you’re not happy in your own life don’t take it to work. Service express is an hvac company so they’ll always have business hence why their phone person can have the attitude she wants regardless.

Everything went great. I scheduled my annual boiler checkup and cleaning and also to repair a small leak in my humidifier. Andy arrived as scheduled and efficiently performed the work needed. He was friendly and very professional. he explained what he was doing and answered any questions I had.

Cedric showed up at 8AM sharp, diagnosed my no heat problem within 5 minutes, repaired the problem and was done in a short time. That is what I call service and why I have used Service Express for existing and new construction HVAC needs for over 25 years. They come every spring and fall to service my HVAC needs per my service contract. Their service contracts are reasonable and keep the HVAC systems running at peak efficiency. When I added an addition, I pulled the HVAC out of the construction contract because their HVAC contractor told me my furnace and AC were to small. Service Express suggested zoning my heating to make it much more efficient. That was 12 years ago and it has worked very efficiently without having to replace my units. maintenance on the furnace and humidifiers

Great. I've been a customer of service express for years . I have a service agreement with them. They call every spring and fall to come out and check my air and heating system. All their servicemen over the years have been great. This year Haus came out to check and clean my boiler. Very courteous and professional and is great at his job. Found a possible problem and replaced the part. Also checked my Aprilair humidifier and also replaced a thermastat. If you need heating and air service Service Express should be at the top of your list.

We had a leak in our duct system. A technician came and I showed him where the leak was. He said he had to come back with his boss to decide on repairs. We were charged $100 for this visit. The boss came to have look. We tore the drywall, and it turned out the contractor's duct work had been shoddy and sections had not been fitted properly. The boss suggested temporary repair by taping the loose sections and deciding on duct replacement later. He said the work should take 2 hours. The same technician spent 4 hours taping 4 feet of duct work, while he was on the phone with his wife who was dealing with an appliance problem at home! Unprofessional and incompetent. They charged us $600 (+$100 for previous visit) for the work. I protested but went along eventually when they said they would figure out a price compromise when submitting estimates for further work. But then, instead of replacing the duct work, I was told the system was fine and I should just live with it (presumably because the project was not profitable enough)! Meanwhile, the 'repair' we had had began leaking almost immediately, and I ended up retaping the leaking sections, while our ceiling remained torn open. Unprofessional and crooked! I had a distinct feeling of having been cheated, and that I was dealing with used car salesmen selling you a lemon. Avoid this company and find more honest and competent alternatives.

The service tech was on time, was polite and friendly. We have been of Service Express for years, going back to when our furnace stopped working in sub zero weather when our children were little. They came out late evening and fixed the problem. Always prompt.

My furnace was dying and making a loud noise. Sarge came out and diagnosed the issue. Unfortunately it would cost almost as much to fix all that was wrong with it as to replace it. The previous owner of my house did not pay for a quality job. So I decided to replace the unit. The install crew came on time the next day and they worked hard to install a new furnace unit. I am very happy with the quality of work they did and the price was fair. No one wants to buy a new furnace but these guys made me feel I was getting a quality unit and install for the price. I would use them again.

Lousy.They rushed the job,had to come back 6 times within 45 days of new install.The 1st 5trips were to fix faulty work or finish the "completed" job.The 6th trip involved water near their pipes,tech came out&couldn't identify SD our cell of the water.The dispatcher &I thought warranty would cover the service visit so no price was quoted.Tech charged $238, and $138 was paid expecting a $100 bill. Instead,they added $168 and tried to bill it additionally& charge $406 for a service fee where the problem was unresolved.The tech suggested that I call a plumber.I've attempted to resolve this matter with BBB to settle the bill,retain me as a client and stop sending this inflated bill to me AND tacking on finance charges.My 91 y/o dad bought the boiler,paid deposit for it and SE went to his house to collect the balance. I'm 70, this constitutes harassmrnt,unfair business practices and attempts to rip off seniors.

We have been customers of Service Express since the 1980s when it was Unique Indoor Comfort and have been please with their competence and courtesy from installation of our AC and Boiler systems through annual maintenance and periodic service. Highly recommended!

Paul the service tech had done work by my parents house on their A/C units. He took time to explain what he was doing and answered all my questions at their house on 7/22/17 and at mine on 10/25/17. He was the same polite courteous knowledgeable guy both times. John P - Lombard,IL

Horribly. I requested a cleaning of my boiler. I called the company immediately when I found out my boiler needed to be replaced. They sent someone out and I was under the impression that I was going to get a quote on repair or replacement. That was not the case. They sent the Loman on the totem pole who can only clean equipment. As it turned out, I had a furnace that needed cleaning but after trying to fire it up it wouldn't turn on. The representative pulled out a book with a price list of levels of repairs. He said it needed a part, I agreed to the exorbitant price. Because I prepaid for a cleaning on Angie's List, I asked would that payment go toward the costs. He had to make several phone calls trying to get an answer. Once that was settled, he changed the part and the furnace was still not working. In the meantime I had gone upstairs and when I came back to check on him, he was on the phone with someone I thought he was consulting with about my job. He had been on the phone with someone talking about a drain and running water. That was not my problem. It was not until the young man said to the person on the phone that he had to go because the customer was standing here waiting. So not only did he misdiagnose the problem, changed a part that did not get the furnace working he charged me for the time that he spent on the phone talking about jobs other than mine. After trying several times to contact a lady in the office, she calls my phone to schedule someone to give me a quote for a boiler. Be wary of companies who have multiple levels of buracracy to solve a problem, every person involved has to get paid. So an older gentleman comes out to measure the boiler a day later to give me a quote, clearly he wasn't the one who was going to be installing it. It was a waste of my time and definitely my money. I will NEVER call them again. I took this as a lesson learned. The lady was so rude that I didn't even fight the exorbitant charges, compounded with the fact that I still had no source of heat when they left my property. It was a very bad experience, as I was very clear that I no longer needed a cleaning but a repair and the young man they sent was a repairman in training, another person before he arrived looked at the furnace, took it all apart and put it back together again knowing that I had someone coming, in less than half the time it took the Service Express rep to do the same thing but still not fix it.

They were great. I had installed the ERV unit in the same way as the prior unit in the house had been installed, which turned out to be incorrect. They took the time to figure out the system and setup everything the right way, which was a bit more work. I would definitely hire them again. They could have gouged me on the cost of a couple of minor fixes, but they did not.

The tech recharged the system, cleaned the unit and made sure everything was running properly. I was very satisfied with the service as usual. i have been a customer of Unique/Service Express for over 25 years and have never had a bad experience. From the people in the office to the tech that does the work,everyone has been polite and helpful. The techs are always willing to explain what their doing and take the time to answer any questions I have. I highly recommend Unique/ Service Express to anyone looking for a heating/air contractor.
