Tom appeared to be a legit contractor but soon proved to be less than credible. While setting up the forms for the pour, it looked like they were too high for the sliding doors to close. I pointed this out but his crew ignored any input. They did the pour and sure enough the concrete was poured too high and blocked the doors from sliding across the entrance to my pole barn. I immediately stopped payment on my check. Tom, the owner blamed everyone and everything except his own ignorance. He blamed the company that sold me the barn and then the builder. I had Tom and the builder out to see how it could've fixed. The builder said he could raise the siding and doors on the barn to clear the concrete but it wouldn't look right. Tom said he would tear out the concrete pad and re-pour however that would require all the stone for the driveway to be removed. Removing the stone would have required digging down to the dirt thus mixing stone and dirt. If the stone would be reapplied it would be a muddy mess. Tom agreed I could do either fix and would not charge extra, so I paid him everything except for $900 since I didn't know how much the builder would charge. After a couple of weeks I decided to have the builder raise the door and siding since I really didn't trust Tom to know what he was doing. In the meantime I received a mechanic's lien from the concrete company. I confronted Tom and he told me he had no intention of allowing me to deduct the repair cost from what I still owed. I had to pay the full amount of the job, $9000, plus pay the builder to repair what Affordable Concrete screwed up! As far as the pour itself, the concrete is uneven throughout with countless dips and high areas. I cannot believe that this contractor hasn't been flagged sooner.
Description of Work: Poured 60 x 40 concrete pad for pole barn.

They gave us a quote and they're very thorough. They were professional and they explained everything but they ended up $1500 less than the first group that came out. We got three bids and we went with the bid that was most reasonable which was them. They haven't done the job yet because we're waiting right now to get the siding of our house done first.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Affordable Concrete last early August for concrete work.
