Matthew did an excellent job. He helped us finalize and refine the floor plans, adapted to changes we made during the process, finished the project on time and on budget. Matthew was hands-on from Day 1, doing much of the work himself and working closely with vendors and subcontractors. Once he began the project, he worked steadily every day including weekends and evenings on occasion. We have undertaken many projects over the years at properties we have owned, and often been frustrated that contractors would start work, disappear for days on another project and then return to work on our project. That was not the case with Matthew. He planned the work schedule to ensure that he and and subcontractors would work steadily throughout. Once he began, it went forward like clockwork. Matthew communicated well and often, and responded in a very timely manner to our questions and suggestions. Matthew cleaned up every day when the work was done and maintained a neat, safe work area. He even had many of his workers enter the basement, with our permission, through an egress window so that they wouldn't disturb us. Also, after the work was done and we sent him the final check, he noticed rust marks on our driveway from a construction debris dumpster that had been parked there during the work. He came back with one of his employees and scrubbed the driveway clean. Matthew was detail-oriented, well-organized, an excellent communicator and very much focused on quality. We had just moved to Bloomington, Illinois, (Matthew lives in nearby Towanda) and asked our Realtor to recommend someone for the basement project. She provided three names, including Matthew, who also had done work for her. We chose Matthew and are glad we did. We would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Matthew converted approximately 1,000 square feet of unfinished basement into living space that included a large family room and bedroom (carpeting throughout), full bath with shower/tub (tiled floor) and kitchen/wet bar area. He also replaced the shower/tub enclosure on the main floor with a soaking tub/shower and tiled wall.
