Shawn Porter came out and evaluated my A/C unit and let me know that he could repair it, but there would be no guarantees. My A/C unit was about 12 years old, so we decided to replace it. Shawn gave us a quote for the new A/C unit and I told him I was an Angie's list member. He honored my 10% off, which was a promotion on his page. His crew came out the next day and replacd the A/C unit. They were here on time and did their work quickly and efficiently. They wore shoe covers in my house not to get any debris on my floors, which I appreciated. They cleaned up all around my furnace where the new coil was installed and also cleaned up any grass they brought in at the front door when they were done. Leroy helped me with the dampers to adjust a few rooms for coolness. Overall, wonderful service and respected my property. I could not be more satisfied and we will call them in the fall to clean our furnace!

The job was completed and the furnace worked well. The provider and his assistant worked diligently and quickly. They were very mindful of my light carpeting and wore protectors on their shoes without being asked. I would use the provider again and recommend them to people that I know.

When the furnace blower motor failed, I emailed and called Shawn, the owner late on Sunday night. I received a follow-up call from Shawn early the following Monday, and a visit later that day. They diagnosed the failed blower motor and provided us with a range of options and associated costs (repair, replace with different units) that were very competitive. We wanted to go with a replacement furnace and air conditioner that Porterhouse was not a dealer for, however they were interested enough in our business to become a dealer for the furnace and A/C manufacturer that we wanted (hint: see Consumer Reports for reliability ratings). Additionally, we wanted a 10 year labor warranty to match the manufacturer's equipment warranty, something that Porterhouse typically did not offer with the equipment that they sold. Shawn was very willing to match the manufacturer's warranty with a labor warranty of 10 years and handled filing the warranty paperwork with the manufacturer. Additionally,. their quote was very competitive for the system that we wanted. We were very impressed with their responsiveness, genuine interest in the feelings (and wallet) of the customer and significant flexibility in meeting our needs (scheduling around work, specific equipment desired, etc.). We needed to do a bit of chasing to get some duct work completely sealed and a furnace filter installed, however they put in a long day to complete the installation, cleaned-up the basement, garage staging area and were very protective our our carpeting, floors, and home in general). Additionally, they made sure to completely test everything, and did not leave until the house began to cool significantly (summer replacement of furnace and A/C). We are happy with their work, will use them to continue servicing our furnace and A/C, and would recommend Porterhouse.

When my AC stopped blowing cold air, I reached out to a company who I found on Yelp for an estimate for repairs. When this company stated that my unit, which is less than 10 years old, was beyond repair and needed to be replaced at the tune of $6000, I went to Angie's List and reached out to Shawn for a second opinion. Shawn was prompt and professional. He was able to come out in the evening to diagnose the issue and immediately recognized the problem, assuring me that replacing the unit was not needed. He was then able to return the very next day with his crew to make repairs. He was honest and forthright about what was needed and didn?t try to gouge me for unnecessary repairs or services. In fact, he was able to repair my unit and make it in ?like new? condition for around $500. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needed AC services and will be calling on him again for my AC needs.

It went really good, however, the main person brought along an apprentice which was a little nerve-racking to have someone new working on the furnace but everything seemed to be fine.

These guys are very responsive and punctual. They'll let you know down to the minute when they will arrive. They do the work they promise and the price is very fair.

I purchased one of the "Big Deals" - a 29 dollar furnace inspection from Porterhouse Heating and Cooling. Shawn and a colleague came out at the agreed upon time and inspected the furnace and showed me how to access the filter for replacement (I'm not uber mechanical, but this is a new house to us and I wasn't familiar with the guts of the furnace). They cleaned and inspected the mechanicals and went on their way - seemed good enough to me. After their departure - no filter in the furnace as the old one was beyond it's lifespan - the furnace began to make a considerable amount of noise/vibrations that it hadn't before. I called them back up to ask what gives? They came out a few days later (due to my availability) to assess what happened and found that before I had a chance to replace the filter, a piece of paper had made its way through the vent and to the motor - causing significant amount of vibration. After abstracting the debris the furnace was back to it's normal self. They didn't charge for the additional service call, which I thought was pretty sweet given that I received a discounted service to begin with.

It was okay. The guy was really nice. He showed me what needed to be done and why it needed to be done. He didn't just come in and say, "Oh, you need this." The work turned out good. There were additional charges beyond the big deal amount. The total was $200.

That worked out okay. I've had no problems with scheduling. They were competent. The "Big Deal" price was what they charged, although I think there was some confusion there that they also provided the same service for much less than that through some other arrangement.

Came early. Did not stay long. Nothing special. Got a great price through an Angie's list deal, but I would not use them at full price.

Last year, earlier this year and last week my furnace would short cycle and not put out any heat (furnace is only four years old and is a high efficiency unit.) The problem was the condensation in air intake pipe was freezing and causing a blockage. Previous technicians from Ralph's heating (installer of unit) had come out twice last heating season and defrosted the pipe. After evaluating the situation Shawn from Porterhouse heating established that the intake pipe was sucking in the moist air from the outtake pipe and was freezing up. We contacted Ralph's who stated that the freezing was due to the extreme weather and not the positioning of the pipes. The position of the installed pipes didn't follow any of the configurations that were in the installation manual. (which would have kept the air from being sucked into the intake pipe) Shawn's solution was to cut the pipe inside the basement so that it would take in air from the basement instead of outside. Furnace has been working like a champ. I am very grateful to Shawn, that he was able to solve the problem.. I called on Thursday 1/8 to make an appt. for routine cleaning. Got the appt for the next day, Friday 1/9. The furnace starting acting up right after I called him and by Friday night the heat wouldn't go over 65. He came out and cleaned the furnace, it was working fine but in the evening it started short cycling and wouldn't come all the way on until the temp was down to 59. I sent a text to Shawn at midnight to let him know what was going on. He called back Saturday morning and came out that morning. I explained to him about the previous problem with the frozen pipe and when he checked it he found it to be frozen. He gave me two options , cut the pipe inside (regular service charge) or redo the pipes (several hundred dollars). After completing the work he asked me to let him know during the day how things were working and if necessary he would come back on Sunday at no charge if I was still having a problem. Not many technicians would be willing to come out on a Sunday. .

It was good. He explained things and he was a very nice person. I had no problem.

I called around 10 am on New Years Eve fully expecting to make an appointment for the following week and to my surprise, he said he could come out at noon that day! When Shawn arrived he was very friendly and professional. Not only did he perform the services I requested, but gave me an estimate on other services. Very happy with this company and would absolutely hire them again!

Purchased the deal in late November and was contacted same day. I had alot going on at the time so I asked if we could postpone until after the holidays. Shawn said that would be fine and to just give him a call when I was ready. Recently I noticed that sometimes there was a loud pop noise when my furnace kicked on, so I became a little concerned. I left a message for Shawn in early afternoon to see if he had an evening appointment available within the next week or so. He called back right away and said they could come out that night. I mentioned that I had a humidifier as well, and asked if he could take a look at it too as I didn't use it last season. Shawn and Leroy arrived promptly (early in fact) and went right to work. They checked the filter etc and made sure humidifier was running properly, and then proceeded to clean and check the furnace. Shawn answered my questions and made some helpful suggestions as well. Both gentlemen were very professional and courteous. I found their honesty and integrity a refreshing change of pace, qualities that are rarely found anymore and something that I value above all else. I will definitely use their services again. I called around 2pm with no heat since the prior day, and they arrived the same day around 4:30pm. They listened to the description of the problem and started testing first the pilot, thermostat, the power to the furnace, the power to the aquastat, and all that was testing correctly. It was actually needing a new aquastat (I have a boiler for radiators throughout the house). Since Shawn does not work on many boilers (mostly furnaces), he called another person who knew boilers and used FaceTime and his phone to show the part to the expert, and took pictures of the aquastat to take to the supply house. They needed to get the part, and called me from the supplier to approve the purchase of the aquastat. They replaced it and also changed the thermostat (to a replacement I already had) and room position which also needed to be done. They cleaned up what they worked on, did everything to my satisfaction and charged a very fair labor price over the cost of the part. I would recommend them highly for furnace and boiler problems.

Within an hour of selecting them on Angie's List, we had a next-day appointment scheduled with them to clean and inspect our furnace. Shawn and Leroy arrive promptly on time and went directly to work on the furnace. We had a problem with our furnace periodically shutting down and not coming back on. They conducted a troubleshoot and found the culprit, a corroded flame sensor, which they replaced at a very reasonable price. They were very professional, courteous and provided excellent service and advice about our furnace. It was a Big Deal purchase. It went absolutely fantastic. They were on time. They came in and did what they had to do and they talked to me about what was going on. That went fantastic. There was no additional cost. It was a very, very good company. He came out fairly quickly. He came out within a couple of days after the purchase was made. There is nothing negative I have to say about them. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

I bought the special on Angie's list in the morning and The appointment was set up in the afternoon for the next morning. Shawn Porter called to say he was on his way and showed up on time. The cleaning and inspection were completed and all questions answered. The work area was left clean. I was vrey happy with then and would call them when it's time for the A/C season, or if needed again.

I was extremely pleased with Porterhouse. They arrived early, answered all my questions and gave me some things to watch for. Rather than tell me I needed to replace a part on my furnace, Shawn Porter gave me the option and said it may be fine for years. Very honest and efficient. I highly recommend them.
