ON GUARD INC

We were with another alarm company for 23 years before switching to On Guard about a month ago. Our previous system used a landline telephone system that we wanted to eliminate. On Guard was recommended by a close friend who has used them for years and was very happy with their service. Tom came to our home, assessed our system, and gave us an estimate that I thought was more than reasonable! He returned a few days later and upgraded our system adding the smoke alarms and glass break detectors we requested and we couldn't be happier. We love that we can use apps on our cell phones to control the system. I have already recommended On Guard to family and friends! Everyone that we dealt with including Maryann in the office was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Would not hesitate to use them again.

We recently purchased a new home in which On Guard had been the previous alarm service provider. However, we choose to go with a different service provider recommended by a friend....BIG MISTAKE. Nothing but miscommunication and issues. We went back to On Guard and explained the situation. They not only gave us a fair price on re-installing and upgrading what had already been in place, but Jim and Tom were the utmost professionals and did a great job with the re-install considering the mess that was left over from the other company. Don't make the same mistake we did....just go with On Guard from the beginning!

Excellent. Tom, the On Guard Tech, remarked about the age of the alarm and wasn't sure if parts would be available. He quickly determined the problem was a bad battery and checked the rest of the system and returned it to normal operation. He recommended the replacement of one sensor which had to be ordered. He could have easily recommended complete replacement of the system but instead returned a serviceable system to normal operation.Great job!

Jim and Tom arrived on time, consulted with us on how we wanted the cameras installed. Both men did an outstanding job, would highly recommend this company. No complaints at all --

After talking with several different companies about fixing our alarm system and installing new smoke detectors, my wife and I made the decision to go with On Guard Inc. I really can't say why we eventually chose them over their competitors but we are really happy that we did. Tom came out and was right on time. He walked us through what I had discussed with Joe (owner) and asked if we had any questions. He was polite and always answered any questions we had. He took the time to make sure we understood how to work the security panel even if it meant going over it several times. Tom wasn't pushy about additional work that could have been done, but when I did ask him thoughts, his ideas came out as "suggestions" vs. "you really should get this done" tone. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I can honestly say that my family and I are a lot more safe because of the work that Tom and On Guard Inc. did. Thank you!!!

From start to finish the process was smooth and communication was great. I scheduled an estimate appointment, but had to cancel a few days before - they were very accommodating and were happy to reschedule. When the tech arrived to survey the house he immediately got to work and took the time to walk me through all of the options. I liked that he provided info rather than a sales push - on several occasions he pointed out that it might not be necessary to do x and y due to cost/effectiveness which showed me he was being upfront and not overselling. I picked out a system that fit our needs and within a week it was installed and ready to do. The installation process took about 4 hours and the same tech who provided the estimate did the work. After the instal was complete he took the time to walk me through the set up and gave me his cell number should I have any questions. So far the system has worked as advertised and we're very satisfied.

Tom and his partner arrived on time, or even a little bit early. They were both polite and professional, and they had with them everything they needed to get started and take care of the job that day. They cheerfully worked around a crew I had in for an emergency flood clean-up in the basement, and were friendly with my "helpful" cat--all without delaying themselves at all. They installed everything and even found a way to put in the window sensors I wanted but thought they could not do, due to the window construction. After everything was in place, they tested the equipment: and tested and tested, until they were completely satisfied it was working properly. I got a demonstration of how to arm and disarm the system, along with a copy of the system manual and the number to call for questions or issues. Then they presented my final bill, which was less than the original estimate. We are new to security systems, so we've had a couple of false alarms already. The glass break sensors are very sensitive and went off when I dropped a heavy box near one sensor. That is no fault of the hardware, but just of me learning to work with what's in the house. The people who answer the service line are as courteous and pleasant as everyone else I have met. I expect we will soon get the hang of the system, and will have no future need to call the center, but it's great to know I am dealing with professionals at every turn. I was slightly hesitant to go with a service I hadn't heard of before, but the Angie's rating convinced me to call them. I'm so glad I did. They were better than the "name-brand" providers in every way, and I feel fully protected, and satisfied, as one of their customers. Well done, On Guard.

We had purchased a new home that had an existing alarm system that we wanted to integrate with a wireless system we had brought with us from our previous home. Several other companies we spoke with insisted on us purchasing a brand new system with them or quoted expensive installation charges because we already owned all of the necessary equipment. Joe walked us through what we needed over the phone. He was upfront about what our potential costs might be outside of the monitoring fees. He was able to schedule an appointment for a technician to come out within 24 hours. Tom was the technician that came to integrate the two systems. He was on time, courteous and able to save us some money!!!! Joe had advised us that we might have to have a communication card replaced and that there was also a possibility that we would not be able to use the same panel if our previous alarm company had locked the panel. Fortunately, Tom checked to see if the communication card was reusable, which it was. Based on our conversations with other providers, we know that he did not have to do this. He could have merely told us it was required in order to make the sale. We were also able to obtain the lock codes from the previous provider in order to use the panels that we owned. Tom spent three hours with us and integrated both systems seamlessly as well as added our additional contacts - all at no charge other than the monitoring fees which were due quarterly, semi-annually or yearly. Tom also gave us some other suggestions to increase security around our home in the future. He didn't try to sell us anything and merely said that we could always call if we wanted to add something additional in the future. We will definitely refer others to OnGuard.

I can?t say enough on how happy I am with the outdoor surveillance system ON GUARD installed on my property. I was initially overwhelmed with the prospect of finding a company, picking cameras and installing a system that would meet my needs. ON GUARD was there for me every step of the way. I felt very comfortable with them from the initial phone throughout the design, ordering, installation and follow-up phases. This is a full service organization more than willing to work with the customer to customize the needs in a surveillance system setup. I was most impressed with the quality of work on the installation. The job was done very professionally and I like the way it looks and operates. I would definitely use their services again if I ever decided to expand the system.

Friendly right from the initial contact. Called me back with pricing and answered all my questions. Set up the tech to come out to my house at my convenience. Tech was very thorough and patient while teaching me to use the system. Showed me all the features until I was comfortable with using all of them.

Prompt, professional, clear in explaining how the system works. System has functioned smoothly and without complication since then.

The experience was great from start to finish. Jim came out for the initial estimate, a few more guys came along for the rough-in, final install, and commissioning. They answered all our questions, were great with scheduling and follow-up, and the price was more than fair. Everyone was very professional and conscientious, work was of high quality, and we haven't had a single issue with any of it. Ongoing monitoring cost is fair and support has been top notch. Highly recommended.

OnGuard was timely and professional. We had quotes from three companies, and all the prices were similar. From a total cost perspective (installation and monthly fees), OnGuard was probably in the middle. Our motion sensor went bad after a couple of weeks - OnGuard came out promptly and replaced it. Then a few months ago one of our basement sensors went bad; they came out promptly and replaced it as well.

I contacted three alarm companies by phone after going over their reviews on Angie's List. Company 1 urged me to sign up right away (over the phone) for a pre-packaged program which they would then tweak when the installer came over. Not acceptable. The second company's rep was very professional and knowledgeable - I did not select that company because their equipment and monitoring costs over a 2 year period would have been considerably high. I finally selected On Guard Inc.. James Martin and Joe came over within a couple of days of my call. They were polite, knowledgeable, and listened to my concerns for security in my home; they suggested a system to suit MY needs and not just a ready-made "one size fits all" system. They answered my questions patiently. Proposals and revised quotes were received promptly from their office. Jim and Joe arrived promptly on installation date with all the equipment needed. While they were unloading their supplies, my dog slipped out of the garage - Jim and Joe took off after him, found him almost a mile away and brought him back. I truly appreciate their courtesy in "going above and beyond the call of duty" in this! The rest of the installation was, happily, uneventful. They work well as a team and the work was completed within the 5-hour estimate given. They patiently tutored me on how to operate the system as well set up the website "app" for me on my Smartphone and home computer so that I can receive status information on my cell-phone via instant messages and emails. Monitoring of the system is done through a company in Cleveland. In the week since the installation there have been some "false alarms". In all cases (except one) I received a call from the monitoring station within a couple of minutes of the alarm being triggered, so the system seems to be working as designed. Jim and Joe also returned, at my request, to re-check the sensitivity of the glass break detector and answer other questions or concerns I had. It has been a pleasure dealing with On Guard and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services. .

They were very knowledgeable. The person that came out was able to do everything. He got the job done and had it up and running before he left. The other company we had come out didn’t seem near as knowledgeable and it was more of a sales call. I was very happy with On Guard.

Tom our service man arrived on time, and the estimate of installtion was 5 hours, and considering we have a older house that is how long it took. He did a great job.

The installation went very well, the installer was on time and courteous. I have had no problems with the system. I continue to use their monitoring system. Those times when we?ve accidentally set off the system the call backs have been prompt and professional

Super fast service, I called late afternoon and they had a Tech to my house the following morning. Tom the service tech was at my house 10 minutes before the appointment, he was polite neat and professional. Also the staff at On Guard Inc. at (708) 429-2307 are very customer friendly!

I needed to update my alarm system and also get a new motion detector to replace an existing one. I use to have a friend that had an alarm company which went out of business. I don't know about anyone else, but I need to trust the people who work on something that protects my family. I came on Angie's List and found On Guard. They came out for the free estimate and couldn't have been nicer. Later, that day they called me with the entire estimate. We scheduled the appointment and the work was done quickly, cleanly, and swiftly. I was very happy with their service. I will use them again if I have any further alarm needs.Re

I first called On Guard b/c our door chime was going off when no motion to the door would occur. The system was not being monitored at the time, and I could not seem to get it to stop. I had fired ADT months prior so I had no one to call. They were very helpful with this. The chime recurred so I decided to have On Guard come out and give an estimate. I was much less than what I had expected, and included new elements that I did not have prior. The installation was wonderful. They sent 2 people and were here a good 4 or so hours. They corrected errors that previous service people could not. They did the little things that are often lacking for instance: they replaced a control panel in one room. They one we had was larger than the newer model so they actually looked to see if we had the paint for the wall still! They also gave us an upgraded panel to attempt to cover the unpainted wall. In addition I had a door replaced and the craftsmen left the alarm wire in the wall so it could be accessed and reinstalled to the door. There was about a 1 inch hole to the wire. The repaired the hole when I said I did not need that door alarmed! I am thrilled with On Guard.
