.Usually, I am far more articulate, but I cannot think of enough adjectives to describe this wonderful company! John came out and gave us a very competitive estimate. What sold me on his presentation was that he was exceptionally honest and candid, notwithstanding his overall personality. I hired the company almost immediately. The crew was exceptional. They were friendly, extraordinarily neat, very professional, and obviously highly talented. The job turned out to be one of the most pleasant I have ever had with a contractor, (and I have had many). They were very eager to please, (as was John who made an appearance to make sure all was going well). Several unit owners have commented on their work and want to use them for their individual units. We have a big job coming up in the spring we will be hiring them to do. They are expedient, their rates are reasonable and they are honest. I was amazed at the time it took them to complete the job -- and remember, they used two coats of paint on everything. Hire this company if you need any painting done - they are, in my opinion, extraordinary. I recommend them highly!
Description of Work: We hired Jondec Painting to paint the bottom portion of our hallways. We have four floors and are a 24 unit condominium association in Orland Park. Our hallways had not been painted in 6 years. They chose the paint (high quality) and painted two coats of each hallway plus the 16 plant shelves.

Everyone was VERY friendly and professional and everything went smooth from the quote to the end of the job. The guys showed up on time and did everything they said they were going to without any hesitations. The price was a little more than I had originally anticipated, but after everything was completed I learned that you get what you pay for! I will be using Jondec in the future! Great company!

This was my second time using Jondec - the first experience went so well, I knew that I would be using them for this job. The most striking thing about this company is their customer service - wow! From the owner (John), to my painters (Laura & different John), I received the best customer service. My husband was returning from Afghanistan, and they squeezed me into their schedule last minute so I could surprise my husband upon his return. Everyone was extremely professional, polite, and very personable, and I really felt like they cared about what I was looking for and what I wanted the finished result to look like. Painter John even insisted on helping me unload groceries from the trunk of my car. They were also very nice to my curious three year old. Beyond the great customer service, they also did a fabulous paint job. The previous owners of my house had painted a gigantic Superman logo which took up almost 1/3 of one wall, with the remaining walls painted in a very dark 'superman' blue. Even worse, they had used some sort of textured paint for the logo, so even if I did prime and paint over it, a 'shadow' of the logo would still remain. Jondec came in, sanded and primed the wall, and did such a great paint job that you would never know it was the same room. My only regret is not taking before and after pictures of the room, because now, the room looks like something out of a super trendy and luxury hotel. I must have thanked John and Laura a hundred times of how great everything looked. They also removed unwanted window treatment hardware (not apart of their jobs), they I had meant to remove prior to their arrival. I used their paint, which was top notch quality and matched the swatch I had perfectly. They also arrived early both days (but they stayed outside and did not ring the bell until the time they were supposed to show up so as not to intrude). Owner John himself, on the house, even finished hanging border that I was unable to complete in the bathroom they previously painted. I can say nothing but good things about Jondec, and highly recommend them for a painless, no-stress, 'above and beyond' experience. I also really, really appreciate their support of military personnel and their families. If I ever need more painting services, they will get the call.

I called John stating that there were repairs that needed to be made under the warranty and that I needed some other minor touch up because of gutter repairs. Although it is the contractor's obligation to list all items on a proposal, John did not list any of the repairs on the 1st proposal of Aug. 30, 2011 and therefore I faxed proposal back asking him to list all of the touch up spots and where. (Contractors who do not state all items often do that so that they have leeway in getting out of work and that is why Illinois law states all work is to be detailed so that the consumer has a clear understanding of the work to be done.) John did not respond and so I sent a fax with all repairs listed on Sept. 8, 2011. He then sent me a 2nd proposal that I received Sept. 9, 2011 stating "Nothing on rear of house" which eliminated painting the rear gutter and lowered the cost by $60. and also missed a couple of the repairs. I faxed the second proposal back to him stating he deleted rear gutter painting, with OK of light rinse on siding and bricks as I have a soft brick, and pointing out that a couple of the repairs were missed. Sept. 13, 2011, John sent me a letter with a check for $75. to cover the cost of the repairs instead of doing the work and withdrawing his proposal for the new work. I want that repair work done and expect him to make good his warranty. I don't know what to think of the new work. The agreed repairs consist of cracking paint on garage door diamond trim (missed the chipped paint on garage door); 3 support joists with cracking paint; front door sidelites - caulk and touch up bottom joints; touch up front downspout; touch up caulk - 1 spot; touch up windows boxes on second story (did not detail peeling on diamond trim and shrinking paint on underside of diamond trim on window boxes on second story). That check of $75. does not cover the cost of the warranty work that needs to be done. We both missed a spot on the front gutter that needs to be touched up. I do want the repair work to be done under the warranty. The new work to be done and on John's first proposal was to use a pressure washer to give a light rinse to all exterior surfaces for $275. For $390. he would apply 2 coats of primer/ paint to new gutter (30 feet on 2nd story) and downspout (20 feet) and downspout (6 feet) on rear of house. Also re-paint areas on south side where downspout was removed , labor only as I have the paint. The new work totaled $665.00 John's letter of Sept. 13, 2011 also stated that the original painting proposal for the new work of Sept. 2011 was withdrawn because of continuing changes to original painting proposal. It was definitely his fault that he did not itemize all work to be done on the original proposal which would have made the proposal forthright and transparent. Consequently, I did ask that all repairs be listed on a second proposal. The 2nd proposal missed the new gutter on 2nd floor, chipped paint on garage door, etc. and so needed to be clarified. Because the initial proposal of $4125. for painting the house was quite forthright and transparent , I would expect the same for additional proposals, but there is some disconnect. Continuing, I immediately called John when I got the letter of Sept. 13, 2011 and left a message stating that the $75. check was unacceptable and inappropriate as was the canceling of the new work and discount of the warranty work. He did not respond. I will add, the house does look good except for the repairs and the new painting that is needed. John of Jondec has the knowledge to do a professional job, ie using the right roller sleeve to paint aluminum siding so that there is not an orange peel effect, caulking the front sidelight so that the paint will adhere, etc. Another setback was that there was a problem getting the paint color that I wanted. I resolved that problem by buying the paint at my paint store as Jondec's paint store was not able to match the color I wanted for the trim which included gables, shutters, fascia, window boxes and garage door. I expect this to be resolved. The overall experience is not good and I would not recommend using him as he needs to do what he says he will do when he warrants his work and gives proposals.
Description of Work: I have a 2 year warranty that the owner of Jondec has decided that he does not want to honor. There were repairs we both agreed upon. I will keep you informed until this is resolved for keeping his word is important and honoring the warranty is important in keeping with his "superior experience from start to finish" as he claims in advertising. John Van Groningen came out Aug. 29, 2011 to look at needed items to be repaired and to also give me an estimate on new painting. I have a tri-level house with aluminum siding on the top half and brick on the bottom half. I paid $4205. (which in on the pricey side) to have the aluminum siding and trim painted and power washed Sept.25,2009. I don't mind the price as long as the paint holds up and the warranty is honored. Again, John and I did agree on the areas to be repaired when he was here Aug. 29, 2011.

It was nice to see the exterior of your home looking so good after two years. Unfortunately, we didn't seem to be a good fit for doing the new exterior projects you wanted completed. Since the new contractor you hire will be using the same products (most left over form the original paint job)it seemed best to let them handle the 30 to 60 minutes of touch ups we had discussed. So we sent you a check to cover the cost of those touch ups.

They submitted the most reasonable bid by far. Tthey agreed to our timetable for the work and performed all work as agreed or more. They showed up on time and worked steadily to complete the project. Despite the extreme heat they worked long days and cleaned up each day so you wouldn't know they were there except for the completed painting. Very satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Painted the trim and front facia on a tall two story house. They also power washed the siding working their schedule around a BBQ we hosted. They painted on one of the hottest days of the summer (102 degrees)and completed the job in two days. Very professional, cleaned up thoroughly and did an excellent job. I have recommended them to other neighbors and would use them again. Thanks Angie's list for your recommendation.

They were very professional, courteous, and quick given the amount of space they were covering. The finished basement looks much more like a regular part of our home now and we are generally very pleased with the work product and price. The quality was pretty good, although there are some drips and odd textures here and there. We paid a little extra ($65 - not bad) to have them apply a second coat of paint. They only did two coats on some parts of the wall, not everywhere - I wish I had spoken up at the time and asked that they go back and do two coats everywhere since we had already paid for it. I also paid a little extra to get them to patch and paint the ceiling. I imagine they did patch the ceiling, although it isn't perfect - they may have done the best they could, but I wish I had asked if there was anything else they could have done since it still had visible cracks and lumps. One really positive note was that Jondec came back at no charge when we told them that we were noticing some scrapes in the paint just from having some light items lean up against the wall. They came back to investigate and patched up the scrapes, but let us know that this might continue to happen because it was because the area of the wall included a metal corner (as opposed to drywall) and paint won't stick to it as well. They were very pleasant and not at all annoyed at coming back out. We would use them again.
Description of Work: Jondec Painting re-painted my finished basement and came back to touch up a few weeks later.

The work crew was very cordial and polite. They were very neat and clean. They covered everything. They even covered the grass when it was necessary. SOME COMPLAINTS 1.There is some paint on the white aluminum framing surrounding each wood window frame This could have been removed immediately with water available on the premises 2.The color did not match the existing paint in some places even though I was told that the color was computer matched. Update Date:October 13th 2011 On October 5th 2011, the aluminum framing surrounding each window frame was painted the same brown color as the windows. There was no charge for this. This would require an upgrade of the Overall Experience and Quality catagories from B to A
Description of Work: I have a white aluminum sided house with wood double hung windows and wood frames. I also have a single car garage with an attached open patio with 4x4 support poles. The job requirements were: 1.power wash the house and garage 2.paint all the outside window frames 3.paint some window sashes and window sills according to need 4.paint the wood garage door and the patio support poles 5.paint front and back concrete porch iron railings

John Van Groningen (Jondec Painting) came to our house by appointment on July 11 to talk with us about painting our house and to take measurements for an estimate. He came again on July 18 to present the estimate and review in detail the work Jondec would perform. We decided not to contact other painters for estimates and signed the contract that day. Mr. Van Groningen impressed us with his knowledge, experience, thoroughness, and attention to detail; reviews on Angie’s List were positive; and the estimated price was well within the range my wife and I had guesstimated. Mr. Van Groningen gave us the name of the color consultant, who subsequently visited with us and recommended colors that we are very pleased with. She seemed to have intuited what we would like. She submitted the specifications to Jondec with a copy to us. At our request, Mr. Van Groningen recommended someone to do minor repairs before painting. We contracted with him separately and were very satisfied with his work. Matt Van Groningen performed the tests for lead in the old paint on our house, required by the Environmental Protection Agency and included in our contract. He explained what he was doing and why and gave us a copy of the report he submitted. The crew who did the washing and painting were thorough and extremely careful with detail. All the people involved in this project were professional, punctual, respectful, polite, patient, and pleasant. Overall, we are completely satisfied. We chose well.
Description of Work: Jondec Painting painted our one-story ranch-style house and detached two-car garage and applied stain to the deck and wooden walk ways. The work included applying wash/deck cleaner, pressure washing, scraping, priming, caulking, 2 coats of paint on all siding, wood trim, and some fascia. The contract included a color consultation with an interior designer for selection of paint colors. The work took 4.5 days, including a day for pressure washing. Fortunately, the weather was perfect for the duration of the work.

I wanted to take a minute to let you know that we unfortunately don't have any record of a call or voicemail from you asking for an estimate. If it's something that we missed, we sincerely apologize. We would never turn down an opportunity to give an Angie's List Member a quote. We feel horrible if it's something that we missed and we've been pouring over our records and can't find a voicemail or a call in our records. We would invite you or anyone else to read our other reports and we would still love a chance to give you a quote if you're still looking for someone for your project. Matt Operations Manager

Member, Thanks so much for the review, it's always appreciated. I apologize again for getting a small amount of paint on your cabinet. We pride ourselves on being very neat and clean, but we had a little trouble with the wind blowing our plastic around at your place which led to a touch of paint getting on your cabinet. As we talked about previously, I'd be happy to come by and re-stain the whole side of the cabinet if you think that would help. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. - Matt, Operations Manager

All work was done efficiently, promptly and professionally. Jondec was very tolerant of our hesitancy in selecting the deck stain and was very helpful through their expertise in making an appropriate choice. The company was very responsive to emails and very diligent about appointment times and dates. We cannot say more nice things about everyone we met working for the company - ALL were friendly and professional at all times. We most certainly intend to use them in the future.

There was a special for painting one room for $100. It was deceiving because the special that they gave said they would do any room for $100 if you supply the paint. He got here and gave me the estimate and he only said that he would do that walls, not the ceiling. I didn’t read the lines to where it said the ceiling wouldn’t be included. So he said I would have to pay an extra $30 or so. I had them do another room while they were here as well. I just don’t know why it wasn’t in the print. He gave me a good deal on the other room. He was good but I just didn’t understand why he wasn’t going to include the ceiling. I have no complaints at all.

I really had a very positive interaction with him. He was efficient and didn't spend a lot f time, and didn't use up a lot of my time which was nice because he wasn't lingering. I really felt like he knew what he was doing and he also seemed very organized. He handed me a folder with a lot of information about his service and he talked about lead abatement issues, certain costs that the kind of thing that usually you find out after the fact and the need for it because it is a federal law and actually it was $110 to do the lead testing which really wasn't that bad but people can sticker shock but when you realize what it's for and its required. I got 3 estimates and he was not the highest. The other 2 were people who were not on Angie's List and I went with the lower one because it was lower and the higher one didn?t have the qualities like Jondec did like their confidence and stability. I would definitely hire Jondec in the future. I really did have a real good impression on him. He was very responsive. It was right around the holidays. I emailed through the list then he got back to me right away which was really amazing. He was on time and presentable and drove the cutest mini cooper. He is really into it and it's his life.

The response to my inquiry was prompt. John and his son Matt set a day and time within the week to take a walkthrough of my home and develop an estimate. I gave them three options I would consider - wall repair, ceilings, and painting of the walls, including a faux finish of the kitchen soffit. They arrived at the time we agreed upon, and I was immediately impressed with their professionalism and attention to quality and detail. They pointed out areas I had long since failed to notice, so I was confident they would be thorough and understood my main objective. I was given a folder that expalined their services and approach to their work. Included was documentation of both contractor's and workman's compensation insurance. I received their proposal within a few days, as promised. It looked good to me, and I had a sense that they knew what my expectations were. I asked them to do all the work we discussed. The project took the better part of three days. A different Matt and Nate arrived promptly at the time we agreed upon within a week of my accepting the proposal. They set right to work. I knew I was going to be happy because they did everything they said they would do for the first day. When I came home, I could have entertained but for their gear that was neatly stacked in a corner of a less used room. The wall repairs and seams were flawless, and I consider myself exceptionally picky. I've done minor repairs, so I know it's not easy to make problem areas disappear. I appreciate the skill involved. The painting job was excellent. At the end of the third day, the project was completed. It is rare that the end result exceeds your initial high expectations, but I have to say they managed to do it. Each of them was a true gentleman and could not have been more eager to do the work to my satisfaction. Again, I could have had a party in my house that evening without having to dust or vacuum. I don't know how they did it! I gave them a B for price, because they are not "bargain" priced. But, they absolutely gave me everything I asked for and beyond, so it was money well spent - especially since it includes a 3-year warranty. I would recommend Jondec if you value quality, a strong work ethic, and someone who listens to what you want. If you are looking for a cheap price to slap on some paint, these are not your guys.
Description of Work: My home had developed cracks in some of the walls over the years, and there were a couple areas where the taping job had pulled away from the corners. My biggest concern was getting a quality repair job and the ceilings painted in the master bedroom and in the main living areas of the house which included a tray ceiling in the bedroom and cathedral ceiling in the family dining area. I decided to go ahead and have them paint the walls in the main living areas as well to complete the project.

We received a visit within a few days of purchasing the big deal. They clearly outlined exactly what was included in the deal and what would be an additional charge. On the day of the project the painter arrived promptly, was very friendly and even petted our (barking) dog. He confirmed with me exactly what was to be done, and whenever he had any question he asked me for clarification. The end result looks fabulous, and the experience was smooth and stress-free. Everything was done exactly as promised with no surprises.
Description of Work: Preparing and painting the walls of our son's bedroom. Involved patching holes and a skim coat over some stripes we had previously painted on the walls. We were given estimates in advance of the cost of the patch work, as well as the charge for a second coat of paint. The actual amount charged matched the estimate exactly.
