Description of Work: When we first meet with sales person we were told windows would be installed before Christmas. I called 2 weeks before Christmas because I had not heard from them since we signed on the dotted line. I was then told the windows would be in Dec 28th and they would call to set up install. Dec 28th went by and no call. Called again a few days after and I was told that the new date was Jan 14th. They stated the hold up was from the window manufacturers, but never called to communicate any changes. When it came time to install one of the windows was broken. They did call to let me know and we decided to put them in and then fix the problem one the window manufactures could send out new glass. They windows look great and we have no issues with install. Still waiting to get Window fixed but do not anticipate a problem. Only issue was early on during the planning phase for installations. Their communication is suspect, but their work and price is fantastic.

Description of Work: We neede to replace on Front |Room Windows and have been thinking about it for the last 2 years. Excell did some window replacements down the street and they were walking the block to let us know where they were working and to please stop by and check out their work. We did and asked them for a quote on Pella Windows. We had gotten quotes before and they ran anywhere from $17 K to 12k, they came in at 9.5k and we jumped at it. Since the windows were custom we knew it would be some time before they were made. They were completed in the quoted time frame and they did a great Job? The crew cleaned everthing up and the job was complete. |I have since hired them to remodel our bathroom and replace a door. All jOBS turned out great.

Description of Work: I will initially say this. I may still use the company for my house. However, here are some concerns I had from my experience with the estimate. First, the company asked me he day before the appointment to move the time from 9am to 8am. I agreed and rescheduled another engagement to an hour earlier. The next day, the salesman showed up around 8:50am. He was never notified from the company of the appointment time change. That's a little red flag for me when communication within the company breaks down. Second, the salesman starts with criticizing the quality of the door and window I had him look at and even criticized the builder. It's my house and we didn't spend millions of dollars for a fully custom built house so of course I know we do don't get the best window out there. However I don't have to hear that from the salesman. At the end he did offer a price quite that is better than the offer I would have received with the promotional coupon I received. I was not really too impressed with the amount of time he spent bashing the competitors like Feldco and Windoworks. But I have had that experience when other people came for estimates so it's not unusual, just a little disappointing. The salesman still was polite and and didn't pressure me too much to do the sale. So far I do believe the company offers great product and probably does great service. I just didn't have the stellar estimate experience. We will see who I decide gets my business.

Excel windows did a great job. They were right on time with the dates that they had previously chosen. They were very professional and the only thing that held us up was the weather but we were able to work around it and they were able to get the job done before christmas. They cleaned up well and it was a great experience.

I received a call back, but the message got cut off so I called them back. The woman on the phone told me that they do not carry storm windows.
Description of Work: We were looking to have the storm windows/frames replaced on our condo building as they are ill fitting and very drafty. 18 windows in all on the front of a 3 story building.

There were some glitches; one of the windowpanes was broken, and had to be replaced. The pane was replaced, but when we got a strong rain, my Eastern garden window was leaking badly. After contacting Excel, they suggested I call the manufacturer. While the people at Excel are friendly, their supplier was most definitely not. The supplier was not helpful at all; in fact the woman who I talked to treated me like I was trying to rip them off. I contacted Excel again, and they came out to see what the problem was. It turns out there wasn't enough flashing to keep the rain out, so they installed more flashing, and now there is no problem at all. I must commend Julie for her help; Excel was extremely responsive to my needs. She was surprised that the manufacturer treated me like this. I don't want the treatment I got from the manufacturer to reflect on the Excel people.

Workers arrived early and were very efficient. Everyone at Excel was easy to work with and things went very smooth. The clean up was superior and the installers worked very hard and did not even take a lunch break. Very good follow up with any questions after the installation. Excel is always there for you.
Description of Work: I had a total window replacement. Excel replaced 5 double hung windows, 1 bow window and all new oak trim on the inside, aluminum capping on the outside. They did a beautiful job and I recommend the triple pane windows.

There was one problem, a window that didn't come in through the fault of the manufacturer. They followed up on it nicely even though it took a little longer than expected. Their service is very good. The only complaint I have is that they didn't tell me the shutters wouldn't cover like the old ones. Overall, it was a very good experience, however.

They came early on the scheduled date and were very professional. They also cleaned up after the windows were installed. I had called other companies like, before I joined Angie's list. What a difference in price. I am very happy and would recommend this company.

Tim and his crew were wonderful. Aside from being great contractors, they were perfect house guests. The work was performed on one of the coldest days of the year. Since they did one window at a time, my house did not get cold! I highly recommend Excel Windows. The windows are a bit pricey, but the quality is the highest. You get what you pay for!
Description of Work: I had 9 windows replaced. 8 of these were double-hung and the other was a slider in the bathroom with safety glass.
