I pre-paid them for the job with a down payment through a check. They deposited the check without completing the work promised for me. I have tried to contact the company multiple times and heard nothing back from them. They had to come out three times to do the duct cleaning because of poor work.
Description of Work: They did an air duct cleaning but were supposed to complete more services.

I had a neutral experience with them; I say that because they advertize in the paper with too-good-to-be-true offers and then they come out and hitch me up for part of that offer with extras; they had a very low come-on price with expensive add-ons. They were punctual, but they were not very professional.

The company that came to my house used high pressure and I believe, underhanded sales practices. I'm really sorry I didn't check them out better before they came into my house. I believe I was misled by a so called "Mold" problem, and was given extremely high quote to finish the job beyond the coupon offer. I was made to feel extremely uncomfortible, and was very happy when they finally left. I am warning all my aquaintences to check other vendors and not to fall for the "too good to be true" coupon offer. This was a very bad experience.

We should have known better than to follow up on this coupon in the newspaper! And, unfortunately, we didn't research this company on Angie's List before using them. If we had, we would have seen the other review about upselling services and would never have contacted them. Our appointment started off ok as the technician started to prepare the house for duct cleaning. He ended up telling us that we had some mold in our bathroom duct and there was some possible related problems with some of the furnace coils. That then led into a whole conversation with him about how they can flush our whole system with some sort of cleaning agent to lessen the chances of mold in the future. We said we'd be interested in hearing the quote on the service. The technician then went out to his car to write up the estimate...we had no idea what it would be. While he was out there, we were starting to get a little suspicious about this whole thing so we looked up the company on Angie's List and saw the other review. Sure enough - we had a very similar experience! He came in with a quote of almost $1700 to clean the whole system...if we took 10 business cards, they would automatically knock off $500-600 off the price. This pricing system seemed completely questionable to us and there was no way we were going to move forward. How can you trust a price when a company is that willing to automatically knock hundreds of dollars off the price? We nicely told the technician that we wouldn't move forward and asked him to finish up the original work. At this point, then, he wanted to charge us additional money to clean other vents in our house not covered by the coupon. We no longer trusted the work at all and just told him to pack up. He got very testy with us and said something to the extent of how we should at least be "smart" and get our money's worth and pay a little extra to get all of the ducts cleaned. We sternly asked him to just leave. At that point, we discovered that he had cut a couple inch hole in our duct work in the basement without first asking permission to do so. He said that it was the only way to access certain ducts. He simply had covered it up with black tape so now it's a definite eyesore which we now have to fix. We saw this as he was about to leave - he did offer to try to fix it but now we just wanted him out of our house. His overall attitude was rude and verbally forceful when we decided to stop his work even though we fully paid him for the $60 we owed him. At this point, money was not the issue - it was very tense in our house and we just wanted him out. We have since had another company (highly rated on Angie's List) come out to take a look at our ducts. No mold was found and the new company estimated that no cleaning was even done to begin with by the first company. They reported that lots of dust was still in our system and told us that a real cleaning should take closer to 4-6 hours. We made a very real mistake by following up on the coupon. Looking back, we also should have known better when the technician from the first company drove up in a totally unmarked car!
Description of Work: We followed up on a coupon in the paper to get air duct cleaning for $59.95.

The technician tried to 'upsell' me many services during his visit. I agreed to do a complete cleaning fo 240$. The cleaning was after my inspection very superficial. Further, the technician left several areas unclean and left behind some parts. He even damaged a joint on our furnace line. The company gave me 100$ back but I don't believe the service was worth more than 40$.
Description of Work: They came to do a 69.95$ air duct cleaning special. He cleaned all the air ducts, returns, registers, with a high pressure air hose.

Well I responded to this company as an ad for a $59.95 which included 16 vents, 1 return, 1 main, with additional mains and returns extra. Well I saw several in the pak and exclude one which had a bad rating on Angies List. I called the company to see what was covered, and what they actually did and basically how much typically a service call would be. The girl on the phone was very vague and didn't seem to know much about what was done or even answer my concerns. After making the appt for the next day, I then called back and rescheduled because I was just feeling uneasy, and was wondering if this was the same company that used the same name of which I saw on Angie's List and got a great rating. Well I called and rescheduled to come out on Friday May 28th. Two gentlemen came out in a pickup truck and not something with the name on it. They did however put footies on as they came through my house. The head person who seemed kind of strange would come back from time to time and show me pictures of what was supposed to be my furnce with some mold growth which I was not aware they were going to do that. The whole job took about 3 hours, but the thing that kind of made me feel funny is that when they were about done the head person came to me with an estimate for a full cleaning with UV lighting for about $1800. I was blown away. He then proceeded in front of me to call his boss and then while I was in hearing range asked me would I mind handing out cards for them and if I did then they would reduce some of the pricing. He then asked his boss to give him a confirmation number for the reduced pricing. I laughed and told him I use to use that same ploy when I was selling alarm systems and I would actually call my home phone. I really doubted he was talking to anyone. He really played on my emotions regarding mold of which I know is bad but then I said I wasn't sure since I just moved in how bad it really was. He then said don't say nothing to his partner because his son died of mold poisoning. I then told him I really could only pay about $250, so then he wrote up a bill for $250 which included all vents, mains and then some moldicide solution. It was just a weird experience and I felt that they hook you in to sell you a whole bunch of stuff extra. $1800 was way out the question, and then the fact that they juggled the price may me a little feeling uneasy. I say stick with a reputible company that does HVAC work to clean ducts and don't be lured by these coupon hooks, because you'll always end up spending more.

Response from Air Care of Chicago
The Member called our company for our advertised special. This special included the cleaning of 16 vents, 1 return, 1 main duct and a complete system inspection. After completing the advertised special, which included a complete system inspection, a price list on any and all services our company offers, was given for the Member's system. The Member informed the technician of the services he was interested in, but at that time the services were out of his price range, so the technician negotiated a more affordable price with his manager in order to completely remove the debris from the Member's system. To our knowledge the Member is satisfied with our services and agreed to hand out business cards to receive the discounted rate.
