Established in 1973, Countryside has been installing roofing, siding and window projects for home owners with an unparalleled level of quality service and products at competitive prices. With each project, we take a consultative approach to provide solutions for home owners. Our reputation for quality has become so well known that over 60% of our new customers are referrals. We take great pride in our extensive experience and look forward to earning your business.
We had 3 companies give us an estimate for new siding, gutters and downspouts, as well as an opinion on the condition of our roof. All three companies were recommended by Angie's List, BBB, and EBSCO Research. The first company said the roof was fine, but never went up on it to inspect it. The second company, a company that specializes in storm damage restoration, spent a lot of time going over the entire home looking for storm damage. This company also alleged that there were a number of issues on the roof that needed to be addressed. As a result, we eliminated the first company for lack of going up on the roof to inspect it. Countryside was the third company to provide an estimate. Ken inspected everything, including the roof, and provided us with a comprehensive estimate for the work to be done. He also indicated that the roof repairs that were proposed by the second company were not necessary at this time, saving us money. We compared prices between Countryside and the second company for the remaining work and decided to go with Countryside. Ken and Brian were both very professional and easy to work with. The project started and was completed on schedule. The crew worked long hours and in a variety of weather conditions to stay on schedule. The quality of the work was great. The crew spent a good amount of time to ensure that the finer details were done properly. They answered any questions that we had and addressed any concerns that we had. They kept the work site clean and organized. When we did a "walk around" at the end of the project, we noticed a couple of minor items that we wanted to have addressed including some "collateral damage" to a couple of window screens. Countryside promptly addressed the open items and replaced the window screens in a timely fashion. We are very pleased with how everything turned out.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced siding, soffits and facia, gutters and downspouts. Installed bathroom vents in roof and replaced sleeves around pipe roof vents.

I had an employee from Countryside come and do an estimate for the repairs needed for the roof. I never received any communication after the initial visit. It was a complete waste of my time to take time off from work so I could be home when the employee was at my house. I've not heard from the employee via email or phone call follow. I've since gone with a different company.
Description of Work: Countryside never followed up with an estimate for the work to be completed.

Response from Countryside Roofing, Siding & Windows Inc
Countryside's salesman met with the homeowner to evaluate the leak in the roof. The homeowner contacted Countryside after 2 days to complain that she had not received the estimate for the work and the salesman indicated that he would have it to her within the next 24 hours. The salesman contacted the homeowner the next day to send the estimate and the homeowner stated that she had already gone with another company.

Very smooth. They responded quickly after the initial call. The estimator thoroughly measured the roof and provided an estimate right away. The actual job was done on the date agreed, and the whole new roof was installed by early afternoon. Some new vents were added and old ones replaced. The cost of the job was right on the estimate. They provided a dumpster and hauled away all the old material, plus cleaned up any stray debris. They handled getting the building permit and having the inspector check out the new roof.
Description of Work: Tore off old roof and installed a new roof and installed new roof with some new vents.

Most went well. They answered phone calls and emails promptly. Gave us plenty of time to decide on shingles, and gave us additional addresses when looking at homes with shingles we were considering. They started work when promised, and worked quickly and efficiently. Cleaned up very well. A few days after, we were walking on the roof, taking a good look and saw one nail sticking up. I called to have it fixed. This is the only part I wasn't happy with. He arrived to fix the roof without calling. I just happened to be home outside cleaning up the garden. I saw him find the nail and walk back to his truck and pull out a caulk gun. I immediately stopped him, knowing the caulk would eventually lead to a leak. I told him to replace the shingle and nail, not to use caulk. He turned around red faced, but immediately fixed the shingle correctly. I was disappointed, because I KNOW he knew better. What if I hadn't been there? Up to that point, we were please with every thing else.

Prices were a little on the high side, but the work went well, the roof isn't leaking so they did accomplish what I had hoped they would. The technician was nice to work with and did a good job. They have come out to look at a smaller project, but a month has gone by since I have heard from them about an estimate. I've called a couple times and left messages, but still haven't heard from them. Graded them a little lower on responsiveness due to the second job I have tried contacting them about.

We met Jeff at one of those home shows. He was pleasant, informative and all without being pushy as many of the vendors are at shows like that. So when it came time to get actual quotes, he was one of 5 we called. Jeff was up front and told us right off he would not be the cheapest. Like that honesty. Reviewing those 5 quotes was a pain because all 5 suggested different roofing products. And I can tell you the more you read, the more confused you will get. As it turned out, Jeff was the second lowest with the lowest not having a clue! Signed the contract but with the rain, took a few weeks to get started. They showed up right on time (7 AM) and except for some minor cleanup the next morning, they were done with the roof in one day. Attention to details were excellent. The installers had be double check the alignment of the skylights from the inside to make sure I was happy. If there was a downside, I had to kick the guys out at 10:00 PM. They were tryiing to finish clean up in the dark of night. Gutters were installed 2 days later. Would gladly consider Countryside for other work!

Very courteous and punctual. Work was performed quickly and professionally. Everything was explained thoroughly from beginning to end and there were no surprises. They charged us a fair price and did quality work. The only thing that wasn't good was that we kept finding pieces of old material in our yard for months afterward, including many large, sharp nails. Clean up should have been a little more thorough. Good, honest business.

Excellent work and experience! This is the second time that we used Countryside but this time on a different home. The first time was different -- all new roof, gutters and siding -- and they did an outstanding job then. This time was for all new windows. The similarity between the two projects was great price, value and customer service. I highly recommend this company. I researched and had five window companies to our home, including Home Depot and two others that were highly rated on Angie's List. Countryside were the best priced and the least aggressive with their sales. Ken, a partner in the company, was very responsive and not pushy versus the other companies. Plus, their product was comparable to Home Depot - Simonton windows. For the same project, Home Depot was $22K vs. Countryside at $18k. Home Depot did have a stronger warranty - but why do I need to pay more for a double lifetime warranty; one lifetime is enough? Countryside's crew of installers was outstanding - so detailed and great craftsmanship! I highly recommend Countryside!!

I thought they did a fine job. They are very fairly priced. There was a couple of problems with how they installed it. Nothing major, but they came back and fixed it right away as soon as I called. They were very professional. I didn't have any complaints. The salesman that came out wasn't pushy at all. He just came out and gave me the facts and gave me some technical details, things that would increase the cost, things that the other vendors didn't tell me. Since they told me about it in advance, it wasn't a surprise. Couple of things like that, a couple of examples. They told us to put the siding on they would have to take off the existing sheeting on the house and replace it with plywood. A lot of the other contractors didn't mention what they would have to do once they pulled it open. Things like that, they were very upfront and even with all that they were still competitively priced.

Excellent sales and answered all my questions. The reason I did not choose Countryside was because nearly every product was from a different manufacturer. I was concerned about potential finger pointing in future if there were any problems. I don't think the products were chosen because they were best, but because they were the cheapest or had the best markup.

Ken McKendree came out a number of times to discuss roofing and siding options and even walked around the house with me several times to discuss the details of the replacement. He wrote two quotes, one for the roof and one for the siding, and work started the following week on the roof. The roofing team was quick and thorough, and they cleaned up after themselves when the work was complete. A couple of weeks later (after I had windows installed by a different company) the siding team came. Bogey was the lead on the project with one other man assisting him, and I can't say enough about what a caring and detailed siding artist Bogey is. He did such a phenomenal job paying attention to the details that concerned me the most such as wrapping the molding around the garage door as well as the exterior doors and mitering the J-channels around the windows. I had one problem with the shutters around the living room and kitchen windows: they were too small. However, Ken handled the problem easily and new, bigger shutters out here in a few days. The house has a brand new, warmer appearance to it. I couldn't be more pleased.

The roof itself was fine. They forgot to put in the extra vent I asked for, did not put on edging and broke and threw away many pieces of trim. They came back and put on edging (it is as sloppy as the flashing) They tried to match the 80 year old trim they threw out but could not. The guy they sent out did the best he could but missed the mark. As for price; They "underestimated" the amount of plywood needed by about 40%. They were fairly responsive in dealing with the problems, but some of the problems could not be fixed. They refunded $100 for the vent not installed. The guys that did the roof were fast and efficiant and (as it tured out) a little too clean.

Sales representative made site visit within a few days of RFQ on Angie's List. Performed a thorough inspection and advised us up-front of possible scenarios that might add to cost (e.g., he recommended venting through roof if existing bathroom fans vented into attic). Said they could schedule job within 2-3 weeks and work would be completed within a single day. Left shingle samples and insurance paperwork for us to look over. Committed to email detailed proposal to us that same evening but he did not send it. Had to make a follow-up call a week later to obtain a written estimate. With that exception, everything went smoothly. Countryside handled village permitting in a timely manner and all materials were delivered the day before the job. Crew showed up promptly at 7AM and began shrouding front and sides of house to protect from falling debris. They were careful with ladders around landscaping. Dumpster delivery was made about an hour later than expected but foreman made sure there was no standing around. Discovery of badly rotted rafter in one corner slowed progress but was handled efficiently. Job was done and all debris cleaned up by 6:30 PM. Would have finished earlier if not for having to deal with rotted area, which required extra 2 hours to fix and to re-hang gutters. Less than a week later we had a day of violent thunderstorms with high winds. New roof held tight with no shingles blown off and no leaks. We are very satisfied with the quality of Countryside's work and would recommend them to others.

Overall it went very well. Before we went with Countryside Roofers, we had gotten several quotes (all from Roofers all with very good references from Angie's List.) We decided on Countryside because their quote was very competitive using good materials. Other companies were more expensive, but had an amazing warranty plan and long term things that we didn't feel we needed since we are probably not going to be living in this house longer than 10 years anyway. We took some time deciding, but Countryside made sure they stayed in the loop. The Representative came well prepared with a lot of information, flyers and such, especially helpful for people who have not had to deal with replacing a roof yet. Getting on the schedule went fine, the crew showed up on time, they did it it one day exactly as promised. Lean up was satisfactory. We had an issue with some landscaping getting damaged and confusion with the height of the final bill. That was resolved immediately to our satisfaction. The same representative was there every step of the way ( quote, work day, follow up). All in all, getting a new roof is not a fun way to spend money, but Countryside Roofers make sure that it is done as painlessly as possible.

Unfortunately I was not pleased overall with my experience with Countryside Roofing (CR). In gathering numerous quotes from roofers CR was certainly one of the more expensive contractors, though at the time this was offset in my mind by the detail of the quote from CR, their Angie's List awards, as well as the level of employee training indicated by the company. Our sales rep, Keith C., did a very good job of explaining the issues with our roofing and ventilation and how CR would correct these problems. Most of what Keith said was verified with my own research on ventilation and roofing standards, so this certainly made me feel comfortable about going with CR. I narrowed my final choice down to two contractors, CR and another award-winning contractor from Angie's List. The other contractor did not provide the level of detail in his quote nor did he deal with the products that I wanted to use on my roof. Because of this and CR's detailed quote and professionalism I decided to pay a little more money to go with CR. Unfortunately the crews used by CR did not always match the professionalism and detail-oriented approach that Keith, our salesperson, stated as company standards. Three separate crews worked on the roofing, soffits/fascia, and gutters, and all three needed additional supervision/oversight from me that I was not expecting to have to do. Ultimately all problems were corrected, though these were the issues that we had: - the chimney saddle/cricket was not installed initially by the roofing crew, despite my conversations with the foreman that morning.- the plumbing stacks were not painted to match the roof, as was indicated in the quote.- the roofing crew did not present me photos of the replaced roofing plywood, as indicated in the quote.- the roofing crew was going to put a static roof vent in a location (i.e., in front of my garage) not discussed by Keith and myself. My wife happened to notice this while they were prepping to install it, so it was corrected.- the soffit and fascia crew completed approximately 1/3 of their job by the time I came home from work one afternoon. Upon arriving home I noticed they were not properly cutting out plywood in order to provide attic ventilation. I received several excuses from their foreman on why they weren't doing the work as Keith and I had discussed. I asked them to stop work for the day and to go home. I talked to Keith soon after discovering the problems. Keith was onsite the next morning to provide detailed instructions to the crew on what was to be done.- the gutters overall were done well, though they were not properly tied into lower gutters from our upper roof, as stated by Keith in my conversations at the start of the project.- the cleanup from the roofing and soffit/fascia crews was not great, as I found numerous nails in my driveway and in my lawn. Given these numerous issues, both big and small, I would not hire CR again to do work. While I would have liked to take time off from work to supervise CR's work, I just couldn't given how busy I was this past spring at work. By hiring CR I was willing to pay extra to ensure a quality job. In the end I did NOT feel this premium was worth it at all. Keith and CR were apologetic for their mistakes and corrected everything. In the end they gave me a discount and extended all labor warranties to 10 years. Our roof, soffits/fascia, and gutters look great and really help to make our whole house look nice. Unfortunately it wasn't a smooth process getting to this point.
Description of Work: Countryside replaced my entire roof, aluminum soffits & fascia, as well as my gutters. I had very little ventilation in my previous roof/soffit setup, so a significant goal of the project was to improve ventilation. The roof was about 15 years old, but needed replacing. The previous soffit/fascia were probably 25-30 years old, so they were looking worn. Given that the roof needed replacing and the aluminum was older, we decided to do everything at once. This made improving the ventilation much easier.
