Their team came in, we discussed the project in detail, their designer emailed follow-up questions and suggestions--then I never heard anything from them again. If they decided they didn't want to bid, it would have been polite and professional to let us know instead of keeping us waiting. We had heard good things about them from a neighbor who had extensive remodeling but we certainly didn't have a good experience.

Aaron from von Behren Builder met with us to determine what our needs were and promised to provide an estimate. He was professional and efficient. I explained that this was not our primary residence and we were looking for a reasonable priced deck with a couple of different price options (i.e. wood vs. composite). I received an estimate in a timely manner, however, the estimate was way higher than other estimates I had received and there were no options offered other than the composite material. I have been told by others in the community that von Behren Builder has an excellent reputation for the quality of their work, but due to the high cost of the estimate we received for a relatively simple deck replacement, I will not be using their services. We bought a 1920s house that needed a new kitchen. Mike gave us a very detailed estimate and recommended a kitchen designer to help me design the project. We decided to add a doorway through an exterior brick wall to create a doorway into the adjoining sunroom instead of removing the wall between the kitchen and formal dining room. This maintained the original character of the house while still giving some "flow" into the former sunroom. The walls and floors of both rooms were taken down to the studs and the new foam insulation was sprayed inside the walls of the sunroom. A new exterior door was installed out to the back porch, The entire kitchen and sunroom were sheet rocked and new tile floors installed to both rooms. The kitchen was wired, plumbed for gas and water and beautiful kitchen cabinets and granite installed. One thing Mike Von Behren is particularly good at is replacing/restoring the molding, baseboards and door frames to match the original millwork in the house. The finished kitchen/family room is a beautiful addition to this older home and we have enjoyed it very much. Working with Mike was a pleasure-communication was great and he is very detailed and has a great team. I would definitely recommend Von Behren for any home building/remodeling projects where quality, attention to detail and excellent communication are important concerns.

They were the general contractor on the job. They saw the job through. They got appropriate subcontractors lined up. I could always call on them and got answers. They made sure it was done on time. Their work was very good. I'm very happy with them.

Quick, professional work. The shelves are just what we needed; sturdy, spaced just right. They came, removed the old stuff, and put up the new shelves in about 2 1/2 days. This is the third time we have had projects with them, the other two being much larger, so we got what we expected based on our experience. Their staff are top flight.
