The service was timely, and completed in one day. The only negative thing I have to say is one of the employees got too personal and asked too many personal questions. I felt really uncomfortable, I called Ryan and complained on the employee and he assured me if I need to call them back for electrical work that person would not be sent out.
Description of Work: They did the electrical wiring from the house to the garage and put in a GFI, repaired a light fixture in one of the rooms, installed some electrical sockets, and installed a new vent hood that I already had above the stove.

Horribly wrong is how it went. Ameren came out at 8 am to turn off the power, the Ryan guy didn't show up until 9. Had to stop for gas. I pointed out that if the truck needed gas at 8 am, then it needed gas at 5 pm the night before & also, why did it take an hour to get gas? No answer. Then he asked me what he was supposed to do. Didn't have a clue. I explained it & he asked me what the "boot" was. I told him I wasn't exactly sure & he said he didn't know either; never heard of a "boot". I was at a loss; I certainly wasn't an electrician & it seemed he wasn't either, so now what? He said he'd look at it Every 15 minutes or so, he'd bang on the door and say, "I don't know what I'm supposed to do" and I'd have to explain it again. I told him to call his boss which he refused to do (didn't want his boss to know how stupid he was I guess). The Ameren guy was waiting through all this, furious. Finally the Ameren guy knocked on the door & said, "OK, your power is back on". The Dumb Ryan Guy was now walking out on the sidewalk waving at me. I called to him, "Did you fix it?" More smiling & waving but no answer, as he kept walking away from me. "Look, you've been pestering me for the last hour, you can come up here now & tell me what you did." More smiling & waving as he went to his truck &, without a word, drove off. I called Ryan, but the phone didn't work. I think I finally got my cell phone to work & got AT&T to come out & fix the phones. "Has anybody been up on your roof lately fooling around with the wiring?" I told them the Ryan story. The AT&T guy showed me a "workaround" which would get the phones to work without having another electrician to go up on the roof. "The wires up there are in a real mess," he said; "it will cost you about $300-$400 to get this fixed." Not only did Gomer NOT fix the problem at all, he had in fact, caused additional problems I hadn't had before he showed up. Later I realized that my Book Nook didn't work. I took it to Barnes & Noble & the girl asked, "has anybody been up on your roof lately working with the wires?" I swear. She re-programed it for me. I called Ryan & started to tell the guy what happened. I got the Boss, I think - anyway, as I got almost through the first sentence, he started to get really smart with me, didn't really give me a chance to finish the story. He told me that Gomer was a "Highly trained technician" which of course HAD to be the biggest lie he'd ever told in his life - the man himself admitted to me over & over that he had no idea what he was sent to do or how to do it, so surely his coworkers must have known how dumb he was. The Boss, who was really furious with me, ended the conversation, so I hung up. Now i was REALLY stunned. So the Highly Trained Technician was, 1) an hour late with a lame excuse 2) admitted he had no idea what he was supposed to do - admitted it several times; 3) admitted he had no idea HOW to do it, after I'd explained it to him; 4) fooled around for awhile & once he'd gotten the wires in such a snarl that even the phones wouldn't work (they worked before he came, by the way) - he left. Then I got to hear some rude guy lie to me and hang up. A professionally run service would have apologized, "I'm sorry this happened, I'll come out there right away and see what's happened" or something to that effect. I have told everyone my Ryan story and personally prevented several people from calling them. If others have gotten good service, God bless them, but they should just consider themselves extraordinarily lucky. Ryan's level of technical skill is zero, as is their concern for their customer's welfare. The Boss's only concern was that i pay them and shut up (that's pretty much what he said - "It's a hundred dollars, we're sending you the bill and you have to pay it.") and hung up. Obviously a hothead who can't deal well with criticism and not perceptive enough to hire skilled people. It was a year ago I think, (if I look up when I paid the bill on my online banking URL, this will time out & I'll have to type it up ll over again). This is coming so late because Angie's List has just recently come to Springfield & I've been promising myself that if I ever got a chance, I'd officially register my experience with these clowns so others can be warned.
Description of Work: Rain was leaking in the kitchen coming in through an overhead light. Roofers told me that the water was leaking through the "boot" on the roof which housed all the wiring coming into the house & to call an electrician. A new "boot" had to be installed.

They showed up on time and the installation went well. A plumbing subcontractor had to hook up a natural gas line to the generator and the local gas company had to install a larger capacity gas meter. Ryan handled the entire project , and followed up a couple of time after the installation to ensure we were satisfied. I wish all contractors were as easy to deal with. The HDMI cable installation was done quickly and they leave no mess behind.
Description of Work: Ryan Electrical Solutions sold and installed a Generac home backup generator at my home. I had them install HDMI cables in my living room walls for my HD TV a couple of weeks later.

While having some remodeling done, I was informed I would need to update/replace my electrical panel. I called Ryan Electric as I have always used them and feel comfortable with their business. I did not get any other estimates other then the one provided by the company that works with the remodeler. They came quickly. They sent out the estimate within the day. They were scheduled and the whole fiasco was finished within a week. They arrived on time. The work they do is wonderful and they are very polite. I won't use any other company.
Description of Work: I've used them for over a decade. They are always quick, punctual, neat and professional.

Description of Work: Gentech (Ryan Electric) provided me an appointment for the day after I called. I needed to have my six year old Generac generator serviced and also needed them to resolve a problem with the unit shutting off because of high temperature. Holly and Ron arrived on time and provided the service in a timely and professional manner. They answered all of my questions and provided good advice on future maintenance. At the end of the call, they provided me with an estimate and offered to send me an invoice. I couldn't be happier with their service and will definitely recommend them to anyone needing on-site generator maintenance.

Ryan Electric quickly scheduled an appointment. Another firm had substantially rewired much of the house approximately 2 years prior to this. Brian came out and determined that the previous firm had failed to sufficiently tighten one of the screws in the smaller panel. This restored all of the electricity with the exception of the bathroom. Brian found that one of the breakers on the main panel was loose, and the problem was fixed. While he was here, Brian looked at the motion lights on the side of the house which hadn't worked since the previous firm had been in. They had claimed that correcting this problem would be a big deal. Brian determined that although there would take some skill in negotiating the narrow work area, the job was very doable, and not all that time consuming or difficult. He also did some quick work on a plug in that had been causing some problems. He also gave me some advice on some old fixtures. I was very pleased with the service, the clear explanations and the practical advice. I look forward to rescheduling another visit to have Ryan Electric do the work I discussed with Ryan.
Description of Work: Had a problem with 2 breaker panels. Although nothing was tripped, everything on the smaller panel, represented on the main panel as the sub feed had no electricity. This meant that I had no electricity in half of the house.

They were fast and efficient. They really didn't take long at all. They were recommended by the pool guy. They were OK. I thought they were expensive, but they were good. They were on time and did what they needed to do.
Description of Work: RYAN ELECTRIC did our electrical work for a pool that we had put in. They had to move lines so I would have electricity going to the pool pump.
