Description of Work: They put in a new water line from the main to the house. They stayed late to finish the job. My yard was a mess after, but I think that is pretty normal. The guys doing the work were polite and explained everything.

Response from Mike Williams Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning
Hi, [Member Name Removed]! Thank you so much for posting your review! I will let your Comfort Advisor know about your concerns in regards to the condition of your yard and he will be contacting you soon to talk about it. We want to make sure that everything is to your satisfaction and explained thoroughly. Sometimes with dig jobs, the ground has to settle on it's own in order not to compromise the new lines installed. We'll double check it to make sure everything has been done that can be at this point in time. Thanks again!

Description of Work: Pressure, Pressure, Pressure!!!!!!! All he seemed concerned with was having a regularly scheduled maintenance package! He just kept repeating this over and over. "Next time you might not be so lucky" He wasn't very professional. The basement toilet backed up, he had to remove the fixture and then eel drain pipe. . . end of story (I'm estimating the cost, but think that's what it was) I know why they advertise so much---no one would give them word of mouth reccommedation!

Description of Work: In my previous house I hada leaky sink drain- the house had just been completely remodeled- everything was new- however the upstairs sink had a small leak- they came out and told me all my sink plumbing had to be replaced. They wanted nearly 500 dollar- I told them that was nuts and told them to take a hike. Called another local plumber- Collins plumbing and heating an they came out and fixed it for $30.00. THese people have a terrible reputation around Springfield for being overpriced.

After hours service call price was ok. They quoted me over $600 to replace a $15 part that he had on the truck, and would have taken 15 minutes to install. Just had them clean the ants out of the contactor to get the A/C back on that night.

They lure you in w/ their "special pricing" deal--you have to join & pay $16/month in order to get the better price. After a while, it seemed like even the "special pricing" was overpriced. When we got several estimates for a new furnace & a/c, theirs was one of the more expensive ones...and after a while, I didn't trust what the service guys were telling me...it seemed they were always trying to sell me something and/or convince me that I needed to repair something, when in fact, it didn't need repair.
Description of Work: maintenance on a/c and furnace... each visit, the price-tag went up.

For each of the issues, a very friendly, personable, and professional tech was sent to my home. Both of the guys were very willing to explain what the problem was in each instance, what the repair would cost, how long it would take, and any other questions I had regarding the problems. During the heating repair, the tech explained what went wrong and why. He allowed me to make an informed decision about the repairs he was suggesting needed made. During the air conditioner repair, the tech let me know that the unit is old and will likely need to be replaced in the next few years. He explained that the repair techs are in a seperate department from the service techs, and he has nothing to gain from telling me this. I appriciate that he was willing to educate me about how the new A/C units differ from the old ones and the benefits they provide, while not trying to sell me something that I don't need immediately. Mike Williams PHA/C is the ONLY company I will call for service in the fields they provide! I trust them completely to provide only the services needed, to be respectful, and to take the time to answer all of my questions.
Description of Work: In the winter of 2006, my heating was not working properly. In the summer of 2010, the air conditioner wouldn't work at all.

I called Mike Williams Plumbing and specifically asked for a service man to come out and perform a high pressure jetting of my sewer line. I knew this was what I wanted because I had the same service done by another (better) company a couple years earlier. The lady who answered my call on Saturday advised that they would be able to do what I asked and sent Bryan to my house. After looking at my situation Brian said that he would have to call a subcontractor to have them do the jetting because they didn't actually have the jetter. HMM. Not what I was told over the phone but I was willing to change things up a bit and we asked for him to auger the system since he was there. He told us that he has to have a second person there with him while he does the auger because he didn't want the cord to wrap around his arm. We asked for him to call another man out to help and he said that he wasn't able to do that because he was the only person working on Saturday. I was shocked. He then gave me an estimate of almost 400.00 for him to come back with a partner on Monday to do the auger job or, get this, for almost 800.00 he was willing to call Illini Plumbing and have them come and do the jetting service. Keep in mind that if I called Illini Plumbing directly it was only going to cost me 250.00. When I told Bryan that I was not interested in his options he advised he would just write up my 89.00 service call ticket and call it a day. HMM. 89.00? He came to my home completely unprepared and unwilling to provide any service at all and was still going to charge me for a service call? After discussing the shock and horror of what was happening to the plumber he charged me nothing and left. He gave me a receipt showing 0.00 that I will be hanging on to in case he tries to charge me later. All in all it was bad bad bad. A waste of time. Bryan, you were a nice enough guy buy the whole experience was a joke and I actually had Illini out today and watched as they worked the auger and it only took one person. Oh and there were no limbs lost. Thanks

Did not have them do the work. Estimate was TWICE as much as Easterday Plumbing. They are a big rip off. People need to shop around and not just assume that because you see a lot of trucks with their name on it, that they are good.

The project took about 2.5 hours from start to finish. Materials were a couple of feet of 4" PVC. Price was $2550. These guys charge about $900 per hour. They refuse to do the job on an hourly rate. Would highly recommend you shop around. The prices are unconscionable.

Didn't hire.
Description of Work: Received an estimate for the plumbing for a bathroom and laundry room remodel. Estimate came in at over $10,000.00. Didn't use them and was able to find 2 other plumbers whose estimates were $5000.00 or less for the same work. They were professional in giving their estimate, though not particularly friendly.

It went great, because we opted not to use Mike Williams.
Description of Work: Mike Williams is unique in the sense that they will always come when you need them, but do not trust them. They evaluated our sewer gas problem and told us that they would have to tear up our driveway to get to the trap, and quoted us over 3K. We got a second opinion from another plumber who located the trap - which was right in our basement where the Mike Williams guy had been standing. And found that it was an easy, painless fix. We cleared some leaves out of the other opening - which the other plumber located on the side of the house, and they put a screen over it- whoila! No more problems.

Estimator came in and gave estimate with possibilites of other charges based on required damage to city property and equipment needed. At the conclusion of job neither equipment nor damage was necessary therefore no additional cost. However, the additional charges were tacked on to the overall bill. I never received an itemized bill as requested. Finally after end of July 2009 mailed them a check for original estimate and they cash it. End of story. Make sure with this company that you get a written document itemizing everything including possible charges. Have it signed by both you and the estimator. By Illinois business Law they must supply you a document that must be signed by both you and the company, 815 ILCS 513. If they don't they violate the law. Their object is to be as personable as possible and quickly run different issue that they see wrong and say how this needs replaced. These guy's are wolves in sheeps clothing. BEWARE!

These guys are a terrible rip off and I don't understand how they stay in business. I needed a silcock (outside hose faucet) replaced so i called them. 3 years before that, I had the exact same thing done by a company that is now no longer in business and they charged me $125. Mike Williams sent a guy out and he looked the price of the job up in his notebook and quoted me a price of over $400. I complained that the same thing only cost me $125 a couple of years ago. He instantly offered to knock 10% off the quoted price, a sure sign of an enormous markup. When I declined the work, he stated that I would just need to write him a check for the $40 service call and he would leave. I called the office after the guy left to complain about it and they were very rude and said there was nothing they would do. I then called Ray's Plumbing and they came right out and did the job for $140.00.
