Fantastic! First off, we appreciated Lucky's advice, which saved us a lot of money. He could have just accepted the job and collected the payment, but instead he advised us about cost and value-add options. His guys were professional, did a beautiful job on both projects, always cleaned up at the end of the day, showed up when they said they would, and got through the process with minimal upset to us and our cats (important family members!). We're very happy with the results and the value that the projects add when we go on the market. BTW--the other 4 bidders never bothered to get back to us with bids or decisions not to bid.
Description of Work: We thought we should remodel our whole kitchen to sell our house but Lucky advised us against doing so since it wouldn't add the value we (naively) thought it would. Instead, we added a first floor 1/2 bath and pantry in an empty space off the kitchen. We also had a horrible mess in our basement stairwell with cracked and missing plaster, no handrail, and the feeling that plaster could fall on our heads at any minute.

Description of Work: They repaired a damaged textured ceiling. It took them five days--that is, they didn't rush it, which shouldn't be done with drywall or plaster. The repair blended in perfectly. Lucky did the actual trowel work himself, but he brought a crew of six to watch and learn. That impressed me.

Description of Work: The ceilings in 3 rooms of our home were sagging. Mr. Phillips came to see what we needed done. He also pointed out a part of the family room ceiling that was sagging that we hadn't noticed. He said they would lift up the existing ceiling and then put new drywall on top of that. We also asked him to put up crown moulding in the living room and hallway. They started on Monday morning. Mr. Phillips said they should have the drywall all hung by the end of the day Tuesday. They didn't finish hanging it until about 2 pm. Wednesday, but they took a rather long lunch on Tuesday, and started around 9 am Wednesday. Thursday Mr. Phillips informed us that he would have to charge us an extra $800/900 because of all the extra work they had to do in the family room. He claimed they didn't know they would have to lift the ceiling in the family room. Since we had only borrowed enough money to cover his original price we could not afford to pay this additional money. So we told him he didn't need to put up the crown moulding so he only charged us an extra $100. My husband asked one of the workers if he knew they were going to have to lift the ceiling in the family room and he said yes, they knew that. So what 'extra' work they had to do is a mystery to me. After they were finished I was looking at the ceiling in the living room - it looked wavy. So I took a metal level and held it up to the ceiling. I could stick my finger through the gap where the ceiling dipped. There were several places where this occured. So I went to check the dining room and family room. The family room had the same problem, although not quite to the extent that the living room did, but it was still clearly visible. Also, when I went to paint the ceilings I could clearly see the drywall tape through the mud. We were never given a contract stating what exactly they were going to do, Mr. Phillips kept forgetting it.

Response from Lucky Phillips Construction
This person is a scam artist. She used the system to have work done in her mother's house in preparation for her mother's return from a nursing home knowing that her mother will never return home. She wanted more done than the grant through the city allowed and was not happy when she was denied. She is not happy because she wanted to change the wheel chair accessible shower after the fact and the city would not allow it.

I had had the roof put on 7 years ago by a different company but they didn't attach roof correctly. He fixed the roof in the back. He gave me a free estimate. He does really good work at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: He replaced a roof on a back addition to my house.
