They dig down and put a barrier on the wall and put guttering, extensions and stuff like that. after they did the job I tried to get in touch with them but couldn't. They wouldn't return the calls. There were a few adjustments like on the guttering that needed to be done and since I couldn't get in touch with them, I ended up doing it myself. He's very professional.
Description of Work: I used Greentree Waterproofing. they water proofed the basement.
Great. The crew arrived on time and the foreman explained the job they were about to do. They begin by hanging plastic sheeting to ensure the dust would be minimal while they busted out 1 foot of the basement floor. They covered the basement stairs before the work began to ensure that it was proctected. As the construction progressed, others in the crew began the trenching of the run-off pipe to keep the water from re-entering the basement. They encountered difficulties due to a tree root that was blocking the piping. They overcame this problem by routing around the tree root by using a flexible tube that worked very well. They worked very well together and were very jovial although this work is very difficult and laborious. The foreman inspected the work at each step to ensure it was done correctly. The sump pump was installed and the filler rock and seep drain piping was installed. Concrete was smoothed over the top of the channel and the routing of the drain pipe completed, even attaching the outside downspout to the new run off. After complete, everything was cleaned up and the final process was discussed with my wife and I. We are very happy with the results and look forward to a dry basement.! Great job, Greentree Waterproofing.

I probably didn't describe all that they did properly, however it was a ton of work. They were very good. I had received their name from a friend that had a basement dewatering system placed. As basement dewatering systems are very expensive and I was surprised to find out that they did not recommend a system for my basement and told me that I didn't need one. They did recommend other changes, such as those I described above, to prevent further water from entering my basement. They were very friendly, helpful and professional. They are not always great at getting back to you by phone in a timely fashion, but I do not believe that is intentional. I am confident in the work that they did and do not feel that they recommended work to be done that was unnecessary.
Description of Work: Replaced sump pump route of drainage to a better location, sealed sump pump properly, placed extra drainage location for excess water, dug out old window wells and connected drains from window wells to base tile surrounding the house and resealed all.

Very prompt response to my call. Rich Lockwood took my initial call. An inspection took place a day or two later. He gave me all the information needed to understand what the problem was and how Greentree was going to fix it. We negotiated a price and because it was winter the price was a bit negotiable although it was not much-$500 bucks. He also said he took $1200 off because I got the info for Greentree through Angie's List, although I have no way of knowing if this is true, as the first price he quoted was $6500. I had, however, told him on the first call that I came through Angie's List, so he may have applied that discount to the original price before the quote of $6500. Rich was very thorough and professional, he told me it would only take 3 days to complete the job and that the workers would keep the dust out of the upstairs and cover everything in the basement. We set a date to start a week or so later. The work was done as planned. In three days it was over. I did inspect every night and did see a few things the workers had missed from the original contract, but they took care of those with no problem the following days. Very professional and well executed. Rich also tole me that had I called for a quote a month down the lline they would have been swamped and the waiting time would have been much greater. Winter is a good time to get this sort of thing done.
Description of Work: Waterproofing basement including installing a subfloor gravity flow drainage system of 120 feet length, new sump pump with feed to outside discharge, drilling weep holes through the subfloor cinder block, filling the area around the drainage system with drainage gravel, pouring cement to cover and providing a baseboard system that can be used to divert water to the drainage system if necessary in future for weeping walls above grade.

Backup pump float sensor was improperly installed from the beginning. Greentree lied and said they told us to replace the pump when we were actually on 4/19/13 there was nothing wrong with the backup pump and that on 4/18/13 was probably the first time it had ever had to operate. The pump COULD NOT turn on because float sensor hit lid of pit, preventing it from coming on. We had over $8,000 worth of water damage, which we believe Greentree should be held liable for a portion of because they installed the pump and set the float initially. Also, after two other waterproofing companies came in and gave estimates, ended up redoing the entire system because drainage tiles were NOT installed below the footings as it should have been (and was even stated in Greentree information/response to the Attorney General after I filed a complaint), cove plate was not installed in two areas, and an add-on area was barely below the floor to the point that the tile popped up out of the floor when the concrete was removed to check the tile/system. Also discovered the materials were not even new, but were scraps and bits and pieces put in the crawl space area of my home. When I filed complaints with the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau, Greentree responded and made up flagrant lies about what they had told us on 4/19/13, accused us of tampering with the pump, and wanting everything for free. We did not pay over $5,000 for Greentree to put in a system that ended up resulting in flooding of the lower level of our home twice in just short of six weeks!!!
Description of Work: Replaced main pump in sump pit and that was ok. Relocated, re-set, and tested backup pump float sensor (reason backup pump could not turn on when needed on 4/18); however this was NOT done properly and we were flooded again on 5/27/13. On 5/28, owner secured float sensor with bread wrapper twist ties and never attempted to corrected problem.

Waterproofed problem area in 2002. What this home owner failed to mention is that her 11 YEAR OLD sump pump and battery back up unit wasn't maintained or replaced as advised nor was it covered under any active WARRANTY. Flash Flooding triggered this complaint. Maintenance of electrical or battery operated equipment is a must and if ignored for 11 years this problem is no ones fault but the home owner. Batteries for battery back up units should be replaced every 3rd year and sump pumps are covered under a 3 year manufacturer warranty should a problem occur with the sump pump during that time frame Greentree replaces that pump with a new one at no cost to the home or property owner.

Considering the fact that our company has never provided this client anything other than an inspection report including the cost of repairs, this was a completely unfair rating! This home owner lives in Maryland, and has a rental property locally. We do our best, to provide visual elements such as photographs and detailed descriptions to explain the cause and what we purpose to do to resolve the problems including cost analysis to help an "out of state" home owners understand our process. Receiving this "C & D" rating is clearly not justified for and from someone who we've never met, just talking with over the phone and internet who clearly does not understand this process.

I called Greentree for help to stop the water from coming into the lower level of our home, Bill Merrifield came out, inspected our property, advised my husband and I of the problem along with some exterior maintenance that we needed to do routinely. He explained in detail how the water was getting in and what his crew could do to stop the problem. Everything made perfect sense and we expected it to cost 3-4 times the cost so we were very happy with the price, signed the agreement and within two weeks the job started. The workers were right on time, polite and very professional, laid down floor protection and dust wrapped furnishings. Once the crew finished their, the foreman John Brown went over everything with us. We were very happy & couldn't wait for the first rain to test the system, BONE DRY and even to this day not a drop of water!
Description of Work: Greentree installed a subfloor drainage system on the east wall of our lower level tri-level home. This included a sump pump, pit and discharge line.

We're happy to read that your Crawl Space and Basement remain dry where Greentree installed our waterproofing system June 16, 2003, Yes 10 years ago! With 2 separate crawl spaces at opposite ends of the home separated by a basement the 2nd sump pump/pit was indeed necessary and placed in the best location out of your way beneath and behind your stairway giving you more living and storage space. According to the agreement it was your existing discharge out to the air conditioner. Also in reference to the discharge line after the 2012 drought we experienced in Central IL landscaping and dead grass issues are not uncommon

The work performed was done over a period of time because of the weather conditions. The workers completed the digging by hand because of the soil conditions and the inability to use heavy equipment at the location. Since the work was completed there has been several rains that in the past would have flooded the basement. As of this date the basement has remained dry.
Description of Work: The service requested was to seal the south wall of the basement. The basement wall was leaking water during steady rains. Greentree sealed the basement by digging to the foundation and placing a seal on the outside of the basement wall. Greentree also installed new window wells, a french drain, and new downspout extentions.
