I go in there to have the water test and buy the chemicals and things. My husband thought it was really reasonable. I didn't have any idea, to me it was expensive, but I have to have something like that. I am very happy with the work. They are really helpful if I have a problem with the pool or if something is not working right and I call them. It's a small family owned business which we like to patronize and they are really nice. The daughter can answer just about any question you have, something about the water and equipment. She will help me on the phone. They know what they are doing. The whole family is in there, the mom, dad, and all the kids. He still goes out and does repairs and the mom is the receptionist there in the shop. My husband likes to do business with hometown people rather than big change.
Description of Work: We have used Bollman's Pool & Spa Co. quite a bit lately because we had to have a new filter put on the pool and he did that. They opened the pool and then I asked them if they would vacuum it to get it clean and open it open it up so that all I have to do is maintain it.

I have a leak in my LA Spa. I waited 2 weeks for my appointment. The guy came out, checked over my spa and told me that I needed to drain and seal my floor jets w/silicone. I did that and filled it back up. The spa still leaked. I called as I had a $95 bill for a service and still had a leaky hot tub. I happily would have paid for services if the problem was fixed. While they agreed to credit my $95, they would not come back out to find and fix the real the problem.
Description of Work: Gentleman came out, took my hot tub walls off and determined my lead was coming from the jets in the bottom of my hot tub. He advised me to drain the hot tub, apply the silicone and I should be fixed. He put the walls back on my hot tub and said I would be invoiced for services.

Set up service appointment to replace a burnt out light bulb in my pool. Bollman's had previously replaced a bulb in the same fixture for $93.89, which is an outrageous price for a $5.00 bulb, but service and travel expenses are high in this field. The owner showed up totally unprepared without a bulb that would fit the fixture, even though they should have had on record the type of bulb needed, or at minimum asked us for the model when the appointment was set up. He said that he had other jobs to go to and said that my husband could go into town to purchase a bulb and install it himself. He did show my husband how to replace the bulb, which was pretty simple. However, I felt that the service we contracted them for was to replace a bulb, which they did not do - they did not supply a bulb or install it. On the bill, they charged $35 for 1/2 hour labor and $20.50 travel for a total of $55.50. When I talked to the person in charge of billing, she said that "we couldn't expect them to have every little part that a pool might need in stock". When I said that they should have checked their records before coming out she said "we would have had to go through all our paperwork to do that". She also said that we were "lucky that they only charged us for 1/2 hour instead of a full hour." (Which they didn't even spend 1/2 hour, but I guess they must normally round up to the nearest hour.) Bottom line: they didn't provide the product or the service they were hired to do, but still wanted to collect the bill. Since I live up to my commitments, I paid, but feel like I got ripped off.
