I walked into Cumming's expecting to buy one type of vinyl product that I had researched. When I went into the store, the salesman really pushed Invincible vinyl by Carpet One. I informed him that I wanted him to be honest with me regarding the product as I had been "dooped" before. He assured me that he would. After much talking he promised that the Invincible tile would be guaranteed scratch proof and water proof. I informed him that this was very important to me as I have young children and dogs. Once the product was laid, it was scratched within one week. When I went to the store with pictures in hand, Bruce Cumming's proceeded to lecture me on how to take care of hardwood/vinyl floors. When the installer came out to look at the scratch he reported back to the company, as I am told, that the room was messy and he was unable to make recommendations, which was untrue. Bruce finally came out to a**** and stated that he would file a claim with the company. This happened only after our lawyer was contacted. We are still waiting to have the boards replaced. Cumming's has been less than honest and customer service is greatly lacking. The flooring looks nice and will be better once replaced. I would be very careful when dealing with Bruce Cumming's and Larry the salesman. Word to the wise, get everything they promise in writting before you make a purchase.

I am sorry the customer were having a bad flooring experience, but this review has me truly confused. At the time of this review, the scratched floor had been scheduled to be replaced, at no charge to the customers. After reading the review, I called the customer, to confirm that they do know this issue is all being taken care of and an installation repair date had been scheduled with him. The customer did agree he knows we are replacing the scratched flooring and that we will be out to their home on the date scheduled. I'm not sure why she feels we have questionable honesty, when the scratch proof warranty does caution against moving appliances or heavy furniture without protecting the floor, as in this case, moving a bed frame with unprotected metal legs. We do understand the customer did have one product in mind when they came into the store. We do indeed have this product, but our salesperson also showed the customers a newer and exciting luxury vinyl tile that many, many customers are very pleased with - both in looks and performance. Our salesmen are knowledgeable about all products, and try to guide customer to the product that may serve their best interest based on different factors, such as the customer indicated - kids and pets. Interestingly, if the customer had purchased the original product they came in to look at, they would not be getting it replaced at no charge, as the warranty for that product would not have covered this scratch. In the review, the customer said the installer who went out to do the initial repair was "unable to make recommendations." I'm not sure what she means by that. We were told there was a scratch in one or two tiles. So we sent the installer out to do the repair. Unfortunately, the scratch involved more than the one or two tiles, and would take more material than what was at hand. We sent our estimator out to take pictures, and filed a claim with the manufacturer. The manufacturer approved the claim, new material has been received, and the date had been scheduled for the repair. So we are confused as to the "been less than honest and customer service is greatly lacking". We're not sure what else we can do to please the customer, other than apologize again for their scratch, and reassure them we will install the new tile as scheduled.

The installation went pretty well other than the fact that they didn't arrive on time and had to postpone a couple of days. The salesman was professional in the beginning but ended up being quite rude before it was all over. The biggest issue was that he lied to me. Here's the story...After finishing my installation, there were a couple of floor boards that had flaws in the surface. When scheduling them to come back to fix the bad boards, I wasn't available the very next day which is when the salesman wanted it done. I explained that I would be available 2 days later but the salesman became pushy and rude and insisted it had to be done the next day. I told him I couldn't do it the next day and it would have to be 2 days later. The salesman continued to call me to insist it had to be done the next day with the latest reason given being that the installer was a contract installer and would be on another job and unavailable when it was convenient for me 2 days later. I finally gave in and took an extra day off of work to accommodate him. When the installer came the next day, we had an interesting conversation... turns out he wasn't busy 2 days later and had actually wanted to do the fix then as I did. But the salesman told him I was insisting that it be done immediately the next day. When I told the installer about my conversation with the salesman he wasn't surprised. He said that the salesman's commission is paid the month following the completion (and final payment) of the job and that he probably wanted his commission to be paid the following month (it was the last day of the month ). Then almost on cue, the salesman called and wanted me to come pay the remainder of the balance (I had already given a deposit of $5500) while the installer was fixing the bad boards. I told him No, I wanted time to inspect the repair first. So then he told me to give the balance of the payment to the installer, and i said No, the installer was on contract and i would pay the company directly. He became very rude and insisted he had to be paid that day. I told him they would be closed when the installer finished and i would pay the next day. To make a long story short, the salesman ended up calling me 4 times that afternoon, each time insisting that I come pay. The last time, he threaten to charge me a month's worth of interest if I didn't pay that day. He said it was company policy to charge that if I didn't pay the same day. Ridiculous! I had given a $5500 deposit and had no intention of paying 1 month's interest for paying 1 day after the installation was complete. I ended up not paying that day but going in the next day to speak to the owner of the company. He said they had no such company policy and didn't know why Larry (salesman) had told me such a thing. He apologized but passed it off as the salesman being under stress for personal issues and didn't indicate that he intended to even followup on the issue. I told him that I'd never been treated so rudely and after spending $11000 on flooring expected to be treated better than that and that being lied to and threatened by the salesman was unacceptable behavior as far as I was concerned. I ended up paying in full that day but let the owner know I'd never do business with them again. He said he was sorry but didn't seem too concerned, probably because after replacing flooring in the entire house, he knew I wouldn't be in the market for flooring again anytime soon.
Description of Work: I hired this company to replace all flooring in the house, which consisted of 3 bedrooms, family room, living room, dining room and kitchen.

We are sorry the customer had an issue with her final payment. It is not our policy to ever expect the final COD payment made to us until the work is complete and the customer is satisfied. Bruce Cumming, the owner apologizes for coming across as not caring about the customer experience. Cumming's does not and never has approved or promoted any negative or rude attitudes with salespeople, installers, or management. As it has been years between the times the work was actually done and this report was posted, the exact conversations probably aren't as clear, but obviously the customer feeling of disappointment was still being felt. And for that, we are sorry. As the customer did not mention the actual new carpet and laminate flooring, or the quality of the installation, we hope she was (and still is), totally pleased and satisfied with the product and installation. But as customer service and satisfaction involves more than just the product purchased, again, we are sorry for the customers negative experience and we will make sure it does not happen again.
