 + -1 moreI think they put my fence in 4 years ago. They did okay. The repair work was fine I didn't have any problems. I'm not sure I'd use them again, their quality isn't the best. They came when they were supposed and did what they were supposed to, I'm just not happy with the quality of the work.

 + -1 moreWe have a long fence along our driveway that was missing 2 sections and had a few other damaged pieces and rotted posts. Discount fence gave us the lowest estimate, and matched the existing fence extremely well, so that we now don't have to replace the entire thing. They did the work promptly, and cleaned up afterwards. We were very happy with the job they did.

Description of Work: Had privacy fence installed last fall by Discount Fence in Downers Grove. This was the 3rd time we've had a fence installed by Discount Fence over the years. This experience was appalling. 3 sides of the fence that were prefab look great; however, both gates look like a first grader put them together. There are gaps between the boards so you can see in the yard. I was told there have to be gaps to allow for humidity because the boards need room to swell. We have a pool and don't want little kids trying to get in the yeard. The 1 gate's door handle was installed on the wrong side of the gate and totally uneven. I was told by person who came out that that is how gates open. 2 different crews came out LAST Fall and we were told once winter is over, they will be out to fix our gates to our satisfaction. We are still waiting to hear from them. Also, while installing the posts, they dug through our drainage lines. We now have to pay $1,000 to a lanscaper to have it re-installed. I was insulted by the 1st crew that came out. They kept telling me that's how the gates are supposed to look. I tried to explain that the previous privacy fence they installed was not that way at all. Once I figure out how to upload a picture of the gates, I will post that and hope to get others' opinions. We always try to use contractors from our own town. I guess we are going to have to start using contractors in other towns who will value our business. We continue to be disappointed.

 + -1 moreFence was put in the wrong location (not on agreed location relative to propertyline), lost over a foot of property width of my lot. Paid to have 70' of chain link fully removed, they just cut off the posts. Did not remove posts from ground and left sharp edged cut off metal. Installed posts had cracks and was told that is the way they come. Sales guy was prompt to get business and ducked calls on issues with the installation. He had the office person call back. Would not reccomend them as they said it would a stick built and it was really prebuilt panels nailed up to posts. Posts were suppose to be three feet down, again not the case.el
Description of Work: Were suppose to remove 70' of chain link and put in 80' cedar fence on that side in same location. 80' of cedar fence to be installed on other side of property.

 + 0 moreThey did a wonderful job. They did a quality job. They got it done and got out. They had to pour concrete for the posts and do all that kind of stuff. He brought enough people to get the work done pretty quickly. We split the cost with the guy next door and our portion was $700 so the price wasn't too bad. They were not overly noisy. We would use them again.
Description of Work: We used Discount Fence to hand build a board fence out of western red cedar on one side of the yard. He also made a gate for us.

 + -1 moreWe were reasonably satisfied with the work. There were a few split pickets and a split in one of the posts that they said was just the way the wood was, but I would have preferred that they replace them. I could live with that, but when a tree fell on one section of the fence and threw the gate out of whack and we asked them to fix the gate and replace the one section (5-6 foot section) they said it would cost $800. Now (in May 2008) my husband called to ask if we could just get a section of fence and not have the gate fixed they said they have to come out and quote it, which seems ridiculous. It's just a section of fence for goodness sake. I have not been very happy with their customer service. Except for the sales man who came out to quote the job, the people we have dealt with have been rude at best, from the person that answers the phone to the guys who put in the fence. They do as little as possible and seem to be professional only at avoiding providing decent service.
Description of Work: Installed picket fence around our entire yard with two gates in 2004.

 + -1 moreThey used mounts that were already there they extended the fence. In the fence there were two gates. This has been installed less then a year and a half and the back gate has come apart from the hinges and is now leaning. They say that this is not something that they are willing to look at or repair, because they believe that I am experiencing someone stealing my gate. They said that they will not fix it unless I pay for material and labor charges. I have called them 4 times for them to finally call me back this morning about the issue. I told them that I have a neighborhood watch and no one else in my neighborhood has complained about a stolen gate for a 4 block radius. I told him that I was disappointed how he was going to take care of the situation and I was that no one comes out for free because of gas labor etc.
Description of Work: They replaced a fence from my side back door to the alley.
