Both Cary, the owner and Larry, the salesman were extremely professional. When there was some confusion on the original carpet chosen and its price, Cary took care of my concerns. The installers - Jason & Rick were outstanding, they took great care in the moving of our very heavy furniture and did a beautiful job, installing the carpeting. GREAT JOB -- WOULD DEFINITELY USE UNIVERSAL CARPETING AGAIN & WILL REFER THEM TO ALL OF MY FRIENDS!

Professionalism was average as they did not use the plugged in vacuum in room to clean up debris when done.

The work turned out great! They worked really well with my time schedule. They were prompt and arrived when they said they were going to be here.

The work turned out very well! I got exactly what I asked for. The installation was good. Cary, one of the owners, was very nice to deal with. When I went to them, I already had this carpet in mind and basically shopped for the best price by square footage. Their padding they offered was better than other companies and they were the best price for installation. They offer a special type of animal friendly padding that doesn’t allow absorption. I had no troubles with them. Everyone I came into contact with was very professional and courteous. I have referred them to others and I will use them again when I need carpeting.

I was impressed with them! I thought they were very good and professional. We ended up not going forward with the project with them.

The quality and work was excellent! They did a great job on the cleanup. We did have one tile that came loose and they came back and repaired it immediately. We have used them two times now and will be calling them back again in the fall.

We went to the showroom to check everything out. They came out and did measurements and gave us a quote. They came and installed carpeting in our entire upstairs and the staircase. The installers even fixed some squeaky areas in our floor. They were on time and were very professional and even covered their shoes when entering our home as well. We had paid extra to get all the old flooring hauled away, and they made sure that everything was gone when they left. They even vacuumed before they leaving as well.

He has always been responsive and done a great job. He is a great guy to work with.

The company is local which is why we chose them. We like to support business in our area. Big box stores are a No for us. The owner was patient and worked with us and the installers were professional, clean and thorough. I wouldnt say the prices were the best, but we knew we would pay a little more for local people. Job was done on time and it's been many months since the install and we have no complaints

Overall the experience was fine in the beginning. . I called this company and spoke with Larry. Larry was very nice and accommodating. We arranged for him to come on out with samples and measure the basement. He was very nice and answered all the questions I had. He left and said he would send me a quote once he prices everything out. Which he did that same day which was great. I did not choose this company for this reason. I had three other estimates from different companies, all measured the basement between 81 and 83 square yards. The quote i got back from Universal Carpet(Larry) had it measured out as 92 square yards. big difference. when it comes down to price thats like $200-$250 more! I'm not sure if he measured wrong or what, I did send him an email stating this He never responded back to me. So That's why i rated this company the way I did. My advice no matter what company you use take the time and get at least 3-4 quotes!! So I went with Carpet Direct.

The experience was excellent. They were very helpful, they installer was very good. The installation went very smoothly and it came out nicely. I would definitely recommend them for any flooring (they can do tile, carpeting, and hardwood) because of their helpful staff, great selection, and low prices. We thought the pricing was very good because we were expecting such a big job to be $10,000.

as stated earlier carey came to the house to get measurements and give me an estimate for the carpet i selected on 10/31/2012. he ordered the carpet which was due to be manufactured on 11/13 and was installed the next day

1. Installation of the hardwood flooring and finishing was excellent, a very professional and pleasant crew. They were on time and kept us informed during the entire installation. Cleaned up work area daily. Kept sanding dust isolated to work area. 2. Porcelain tile installation was excellent. Fast and efficient. 3. Carpet installation was excellent. Fast and efficient. We had one call back due to loose carpet where the new hardwood threshold met the hallway carpet. The owner of Universal Carpets, Cary Saar, came out personally and did the necessary repair. All in all I was very pleased with Cary and his crews. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again. Very professional.

Called and set up an appointment to discuss carpet installation in two houses, one with just one room and the other a large area in the basement. Larry arrived promptly and we talked through the options. Received a quote within a day and scheduled installation a few days later. Price was considerably better than another local shop for the exact same carpet. Installers arrived a little later than expected (about an hour) but were courteous, friendly and professional. Both jobs were completed on schedule (same day) and look great. I will definitely use them again for rental properties and will call them for my home as well.

We are very happy with Universal Carpet in Elgin. We first used their service about 2 years ago for carpet and hardwood in our main level. Cary came to our home with samples and I also took a visit to their store to look at more. They have a great selection. The carpet installers were excellent! It has been two years and everything is still looking like new! At that time we also wanted to add hardwood to our den and match it up with the hardwood in the hallway. They matched our hardwood to a TEE and the installer did a phenomenal job piecing it together. No one believes it was done at different times. This year we decided to finish our basement and I went straight to Universal. I picked out carpet and shared my reservation about putting carpet in the exercise room. Cary immediately had an idea of a new Luxury Plank Vinyl product and showed me samples on the spot. I loved it! Installation was yesterday and I was SO happy to see the SAME installers and they did another excellent job! Universal is so easy to work with and their prices are excellent. Don’t waste your time looking at the big box stores… Universal beats them all the way around! Very happy in Algonquin!

Overall it went very well. Originally, the work was scheduled to begin on Monday May 16th and was to take two days. I got a call the Friday before asking if it could be pushed back a day (hence the B for punctuality - once the work started the installers were on time). Once the tile job started, it was more time consuming than Cary had estimated. In all fairness, the installer ran into some sub-floor issues that Cary could not have anticipated which helped push the job from 2 days to 3 1/2 days and made the job come in about $100 over the estimate. The carpeting part of the job (in the den) was routine and the installers were in and out in a few hours. As far as the tile job is concerned, we requested a brick installation pattern. The installer was very good and warned us ahead of time that the floor prep was going to create a LOT of dust. We appreciated the warning. Overall, the installer did a fabulous job. As I write this review, it has been 10 months since the install and the floor still looks fantastic. We were very happy with the product and the result. We have subsequently done business with Cary for more carpeting and I recently recommended his company to a co-worker looking for carpet. We were MUCH happier than if we had gone with Empire or Luna.

Cary came to my house and gave me an estimate. He did not try to upsell me into a more pricey carpet and listened to what I needed and provided me samples of what he had. He came in at least 30% lower than the others and had carpet in stock which made a big difference in meeting my timeline. Jake and Rick (the installers) called me when they were on their way and when they got there they were friendly and professional. They even asked where I wanted the seam and told me what their opinion was and where to place it to not see it. Also, the seem is not even really visible. Universal did a great job and I will DEFINITELY call them again when I can save up to do the rest of the rooms in my house.
