BLC REMODELING SPECIALISTS

BLC did a poor job on every aspect of our kitchen remodeling project, from craftmanship to professionalism. Prior to demolition, they missed the presence of a heating duct in the pantry wall. Instead of explaining the situation to us (we went on vacation during demolition so couldn't see it) in full, they just asked us if they should reroute or eliminate the duct. We told them to reroute, and they used flexible dryer venting, a fire hazard. When asked about it afterward, they told us it was up to code. They also took two weeks to talk to our chosen HVAC serviceman, whom we had called for a second opinion, causing unnecessary delay to the project. They then proceeded to work other jobs rather than get back onto our job, telling us they've "never had to wait two weeks" to resume work! When they did get back to work on our kitchen, they scratched our newly installed wood flooring despite being told repeatedly not to slide our heavy refrigerator (they did so anyway), did not communicate with us, the kitchen designer, or our wood flooring contractor about the placement of electrical snakes for the island electrical outlets, which required the flooring contractor to return to our house to repair pre-exisitng holes in the floor that would not be covered by the new island, They also damaged our dishwasher upon its removal, inadequately prepared the kitchen walls and ceiling for our painter, causing him to make a second trip to our house, again adding unnecessary delay and expense to the project, broke the copper water line to our refrigerator, replacing it with PVC tubing (without conferring with us) which was routed through two rooms and over beams, rather than directly using the path used by the original copper tubing, did not install kitchen can lights prior to the painter coming. Several of our $18,000 kitchen cabinets are scratched and chipped due to sloppy and careless installation, and many were not flush against the wall, with gaps of up to 1/2 inch between the walls and the cabinets. In addition, insead of neatly cutting holes in the cabinet for the sink's plumbing, they sawed off a whole chunk of the cabinet's back panel as well as the floor, leaving plenty of room for things to fall under and/or behind the sink cabinet. They did not sweep prior to placing the cabinets, leaving lots of dust and debris. They installed our wine cabinet so that it was not flush to the granite countertop. The owner of BLC never answers his cell phone, and returns calls only sporadically. Many times, our calls were completley ignored. We fired him due to the complete disregard for attention to detail and their inability to communicate with us. The two additional quotes we have solicited to complete the project include not only the work remaining onthe project, but much work that needs to be redone, including their use of flexible ducting for our exhaust, some electric rewiring, and replacing the kitchen island so that we can stand in front of our fridge!.
