This was a small but complex job. The section of flat roof was installed about ten years ago and has probably been leaking since that time, but had become a severe problem over the last two or three years. I contacted three roofing providers and an architect all from Angie's List to assess the problem and come up with a workable solution. Dave from Apex took photos and was the only one that actually raised the shingles a bit to reveal some damaged wood underneath. Apex was the highest bidder, but the only company that bid on the full scope of the job, i.e. addressed expected repairs under the sheathing. They were also the only ones to offer a 5 year warranty. The team showed up on the assigned date, only to be washed out by torrential rains (> 3 inches). They rescheduled for Thursday, but called to ask if they could come a day earlier. They started early on Wednesday with a two man team. The team leader has been a roofer for almost 20 years, but they were overseen by Larry. Isidro and Alex were polite and efficient. The first day was a scorcher, but they worked all day. On Thursday, Isidro completed the job by himself. Larry kept in touch with them in the field and called me daily as well. At one point, I authorized additional charges to replace the soffit panels affected by leaking water. Isidro pointed out that the wood was not actually damaged, just stained, and suggested that he simply stain them and avoid extra costs. It worked out fine. Their clean up was excellent. While I have found a few stray bits, this was by far the best clean up job done by any roofers I have used in the past. When Larry made his follow up visit, he invited me to climb up to see the job. He was obviously pleased with the work. I would definitely call this company again for roofing work. I had some concerns: it was expensive, quite a bit more than their competitors. While I had detailed discussions on site with each company, all three bids were very brief. I had to do a bit of sleuthing on my own to know what questions to ask. Actually, Apex exceeded some of the standards I was given. I requested copies of their bonding and insurance several times and was assured that I would receive them, but never did. After several repair and remodeling experiences, this ranks among the best. Thank you, Apex.

Apex's crew of Ben and Tom arrived on time, got right to the job at hand laying tarps over my carpets, floors and furniture to protect them from any work debris or outside soil that might be tracked in, which was very much appreciated. They worked carefully and as a team to remove the old windows and prep for the installation of the new windows. They worked diligently and efficiently despite the heat, made sure to inform me when they took a break, and were even careful not to harm my plantings outside! Ben and Tom were respectful, friendly, courteous, and funny, definitely putting me at ease. They came in with a plan to complete three windows each day, and executed their plan with ease. They also cleaned up everything so well, after completing each day's work, that you would never know they had been there, except for the great new windows so expertly installed! Upon leaving, both Tom and Ben thanked me, and told me that if I had any problems with the windows to be sure to call, and they would come out and fix anything that might need adjusting. I have no doubt that that will not be necessary. I am very impressed with both Tom and Ben's dedication and expertise, as well as the quality of their work. It's no wonder Apex is an Angie's List Super Service Award winning company if all their employees are as great as Ben and Tom! They responded right away, and they were here within a week to do the job. I thought they did a great job. They were courteous, professional, and they gave me some great news.

They ended up replacing a shingle that wasn't part of the deal. They were really great to work with! We are in the process of selling our home and the inspector found a few issues with our roof that Apex is taking care of. I am very happy with their service. They will be coming back to fix some flashing later this week.

Good, had to come back twice for gutters.

They were just excellent! The plan was beautiful, but we ended up not using them for the remodel because we didn't like the materials they had available.

Apex scheduled a 9am Saturday time to come over to estimate. Not only did they not show, I left a message at the office and 5 days later they still have not called me back.

Justin and Larry from Apex have been so comforting to deal with during this horrible nightmare of leaks this winter. Both have been in constant communciation, punctual and fair with their estimates. Their workers have all be so nice, professional and have treated our house repairs the same as they would have done for their own home. The foreman, Adrian does wonderful craftmanship. This team worked hard to basically zero in on a bunch of problem areas in our new home. I've never felt more appreciative of a service provider because they actually care and want to do a good job to fix this. I would highly recommend them.

I did go ahead and continue to use Apex though for repairs to my roof. The salesmen were very professional and nice people to work with. Six months after the work was completed I did come across a mistake that was made with the repairs and Apex was very responsive in correcting the problem they made. I was very happy and pleased with their customer service.

Man came out an inspected the roof and took pictures of areas that needed repair. Approx $2000 estimate of repairs. My roof is 6 years old. Otherwise I recd nothing for my money. He said he would follow up with me and I never heard from him again. I understand that he is no longer working for this company. Bad experience.

Quite honestly, I don't recall what my Angie's List price was for them cleaning our gutters, so I made up the 100.90. Overall, Iwas reasonably priced, easy to set up an appointment, and they were punctual and got the job done. No stress project!

They are honest guys, they came out and did the job. They were no magicians though. I would recommend them, and would maybe use them in the future.

We first contacted Apex in response to a Big Deal offer on Angie's List to do a Roof Maintenance package, which included an inspection, caulking and sealing around pipe collars, fans, vents and skylights. We had been told by another company roaming the neighborhood that our roof had been damaged by hail and that they could arrange insurance coverage. We wanted another opinion and the Big Deal seemed appropriate. Mike from Apex came to do the inspection. He was very professional and we felt that he was doing a thorough job. He did not agree that the sloped portion of our roof was damaged but pointed out a great deal of damage on the low slope portion that ran between our garage and our family room roofs. I was able to see that the roofing material was pulling away from the side wall of the home and a gaping hole obviously in need of repair. I asked him to prepare a proposal, which he did. The charges seemed reasonable and, given Mike's professional approach, we felt confident that Apex would do a fine job. We weren't disappointed at all. The two men who did the installation were knowledgeable of the product and the process. All debris was taken away immediately. They did a neat job, including raking the lawn and running a magnet over the area to make certain that no nails would remain after they left. All in all, we were quite pleased with the entire experience.

Made appointment on the phone. Inspection was completed when I was at work. I received a report highlighting recommended repairs. I discussed the repairs with Apex and have not yet completed the repairs.

A complete tear off and all that goes along with it. No leakes and no problems. Everything was cleaned up and the dumpster did not leave any marks on the drive way. A pleasure doing business with Apex.

It did not go well at all - see above. After my complain, several months later I saw that, they put in a bigger print in their coupon what is NOT covered. But honestly I still think the coupon and their tactic is very misleading and not honest. Afterwards I got another estimate from another company and told them the story - he found their explanation amusing. And I went with that company and got the roof replaced.

After about a month, I finally get a rendering, but it was a very basic rendering with only the front of the house. I complained to APEX and they never responded.

I knew I need a roof, but didn't know which company to have do the work. After seeing the Angie's List deal from Apex I decided to call. I spoke with Dave Coppes from Apex, who is very knowledgeable, and worked with me every step of the way. Dave came to my house and explained the process, showing me photo examples of the shingles on homes and providing a link for further reading. Initially, I was going to have the roof and gutters done separately, but after learning of the better size and quality of gutters offered, and the fact that they were custom made at the house, it was an easy decision to go with Apex. The project manager, John, even brought an old piece of gutter elbow to their office so I could make a color decision with actual swatches. And the color coordinates perfectly with the home's exterior color! No matter what questions I had, they were answered fully, honestly, and patiently. I bought an Angie's List Big Deal to have Apex Exteriors put on a new roof on a house. As you'd expect, the Deal contained a lot of fine print explaining various things that, if present, would make the deal cost more. Shortly after I bought the deal, Apex Exteriors contacted me and asked if the house had a driveway. I said no, and they said that it would cost an extra $350 because they would not be able to throw old material into a dumpster from the roof, and would have to spend more time walking material to a less conveniently placed dumpster. I pointed out that the property has a backyard, and they could put a dumpster there and throw material into it from the roof. They agreed that was true, and said OK, they wouldn't charge me the $350. Then, having inspected the existing roof, Apex told me that the building had two roofs on it already and they would have to charge more money as a result, a total of $6,550, i.e. $751 more than I had paid for the Big Deal. Neither of these charges - the $350 for "no driveway" that Apex Exteriors originally said it would charge, nor the $751 for tearing down the old roofs, was in the Big Deal's "fine print." I think that if Apex Exteriors is going to have conditions that cause the job to cost more it should spell them out. I do not think that either of these things (no driveway, two old roofs present) was unusual or could not have been anticipated by Apex Exteriors. Unhappy with Apex, I solicited a bid from JZ Roofing of Chicago, Inc. It was less than Apex's. I had JZ Roofing do the job instead. They did an exemplary job. The total cost, including items that they had specified in the contract would cost extra, was $6,412.

Awful--- no showed first appt. Was not able to provide the service that I purchased-- the final product looked like what one of my kids could have photo shopped. Rep told us they did not have the program to do the service we purchased.

We eventually hired Apex for the remodel of the porch but had to wait for installation for other work to be done before they could get started. We paid a deposit, but when we have emailed and called to solidify a date we have not heard back from anyone. This is very annoying because we need to hear back from Apex in order to complete other work on the house. We have still not received a follow up on the start date at this point. Update: We were finally able to get in touch with someone by getting an alternative number. The communication drastically improved after the previous incident and we did not have any issues since. There were major delays in completing the project due to the weather and the workers/foreman gave us updates and when to expect them back. The workers were good, and arrived around 7 - 7:30 am most mornings. Although the project took much longer than anticipated (2 1/2 vs. 3 days) we are happy with the outcome of the porch.

Service and quality was top notch from start to finish.
