1 star for the horrible salesperson who lied and misled the entire time. 5 stars for the employees that made it right. Work seems to be quality and was done fast, but if I could do it over again -- I'd run when I saw Garrett Schmoldt coming our way...it was quite stressful

Horrible. Subcontracted a crew that could care less about quality, only how much money they were making. Apex foreman was understandable but his hands were tied by a horrible manager. In the end code enforcement red flagged job.

October 20, 2014 Apex came to my house at 7 a.m. The crew of about 8 began removing the old shingles and felt. They did not remove all the felt, leaving much of it on the house and half the garage. By the time it was dark outside, the roofers were still putting shingles on my house over the old and new felt. I told them to quit as they were holding a tiny flashlight to see what they were doing. The lead boss was mad and asked me where my salesman, Steve, was. He was quite upset about the old felt being attached too securely and it was taking too much time. He said his crew would not be back. I told him he could not leave me with my roof exposed. Then he said he would be back at 6:15 in the morning. I called Steve who did not call me back but instead called a friend of mine. Then Steve called after friend told him what was happening. The next day the crew came at 6:45, working till 2:00. As they were finishing on side garage I notice they did not put ridge vent. They argued about that but did finally do that part over. They left without saying a word at 2:30. Steve came at 4:00. The crew had not put my downspouts back on, they were laying in the yard. Some of the shingles were so poorly placed they needed to be ripped up and done over. Some of the gutters were pulled from the back of the house. The flat roof had a patch placed on east side. I was very frustrated. I had to move to bales of shingles that they left on my driveway also. Apex did come back and put new gutters on back portion of house where they had been pulled away from house. But then the security light was pulled half off house from weight of loose gutter. I complained over and over again and called several times to the company and to the salesman. The flat roof started leaking and I had told the salesman that it would as it was a poor job from the beginning. The roof had a big patch and some of the seams were buckled. My ceiling tiles were drenched and I had to place tubs to catch water. Insurance company said to call building inspector who came and red tagged the flat roof and was not happy with the way shingles laid on parts of main house. The salesman came to my home and picked up the red tag from the building inspector. December 27, I now have more leaks in ceiling from flat roof. I call Apex, answering service does not want to forward my call but finally do. Mike a "manager" calls back. I tell him they have to do something about the situation or I am. He immediately tells me he is putting a lien on my property and tells me I have not allowed people on my property and a bunch of lies. I have witnesses and phone log as to how many times I have called Apex to remedy this situation. Some of the remedies were to come with a blow dryer to put tar on roof, or to put a milk can and flower pot under a tarp until finally another manager got involved. December 29, Brandon, another manager finally comes and inspects the roof and says it was a poor job. They put tar on all the seams and decide they will put on new roof in spring when weather cooperates. February 14, 2015, I get a certified letter from Apex saying they have started the lien process for nonpayment of the roof that they have yet to fix. I must say, the salesman has not once asked me for payment as he was full aware of the need to complete the job. It was I, who paid $6000 on October 31, 2014, without being asked! Until the weather warms nothing more can be done, but why must a customer be treated this way? This is a prime example of how NOT to do business. Take notice!
Description of Work: Because of hail damage I hired provider to put new roof on my house. I also hired provider for additional flat roof and side garage.

In mid April 2014 my siding on the north side of my house and my roof were damaged in a hail storm. My neighborhood got flooded by contractors and storm chasers, most of them were pushy and unprofessional. I contacted Apexteriors because they sent a simple flier in the mail. Apex was quick to send out a field supervisor to assess the damage to give me a quote. The field supervisor made sure that he was present to assist my insurance adjuster and made sure that the adjuster did not overlook any damage. Once my insurance company cleared the paperwork, Apex had their roofing crew there within a week. The roofing crew made sure to put tarps over my shrubbery and flower gardens. they were quick tearing off the damaged shingles and they managed to get all of the old material into a dump trailer without making a huge mess in the yard. Once the roof was re-shingled, they used leaf blowers to clear the roof and gutters, they rolled up their tarps, picked up any debris left behind and then ran a magnetic sweeper through the entire yard to ensure that there were no nails left behind. The siding crew arrived on schedule in June and completed their work quickly. There were a couple of mistakes made by the siding crew that was resolved quickly by the field supervisor. I got to watch my entire subdivision get repaired and I was able to compare the work done by Apexteriors to many other contractors. I feel the quality of work performed was as good or better than the other contractors in the neighborhood, but it was clear that Apex was going out of their way to ensure that my house and I were taken care of.

Everything was fine initially. They ran out of J molding. The next day the worker who was supposed to bring it was 45 minutes late. The workers who were already at my home left and they came back around 6:30 pm. Since they were working at night, the work was done poorly. The foreman came by the next day and we agreed for him to come and fix the work the following Monday. He never showed up and I have not been able to get in contact with him.
Description of Work: They put siding on my home. I have not paid any money yet.
