+ 0 moreOne year later, I still don't notice a difference in my bill. I've not turned my heat down and I'm still spending the same amount of money as I was before the insulation. The workers did come on time to put in the insulation. When I called to ask about the process initially, he seemed knowledgeable & personable. He cleaned up well, too, but I expected a marked difference in my bill. He didn't call back to follow up. I don't feel like it worked for me.
Description of Work: I bought a big deal for $375 for 500 Sq. Ft of "Green" Blown-In Cellulose Insulation PLUS Free Energy Assessment Thermal Imaging Camera Testing! I did pay more to get more sq. ft covered.

+ -1 moreFirst, Mike was late when coming for the estimate. Then we had date schedule and Mike called me the morning of the appointment to say his truck broke down and coild not make the appointment. We had to reschedule. He was late for the rescheduled appointment . Then Mike installed insulation on top of a light fixture and caused a fire in my attic . This is what the Fire Department has told me. I have water damage on 3 floors of my townhouse due to the Fire Department trying to put out the fire. I will not be able to move back into my townhouse for a min of 2 months. Possible longer . My insurance company has hired a lawyer and served noticed to this company. Do not use this company. My insurance company is going to attemptd to recoup some of the money for the repairs to my home. Not only did he put insulation on top of the light fixtures but they found that some of the insulation was blown into the chimney of my fireplace. If this winter I went to start a fire in my fireplace I would of had a fire because of the insulation that eas I there. I do not recommend this company. Do not use this company!!!!!!!!!!!!

+ 0 moreOverall the company is very good. They did a thorough job. They showed me where the house needed some additional insulation so we actually purchase additional insulation. I felt that they did a good job of doing the job overall and I didn't have any problems at all. There were a couple of scheduling snap through that due to some of their issues and it as a little aggravating because I had to set up time that would be available for them and everything and they weren't quite on time because of that. They could have been communicated a little bit better.

+ -1 moreThe owner seemed to know what he was doing. They came and completed my neighbor's home before they came over. They did not vacuum my room but they vacuumed hers. I feel I paid for a service that didn't live up to it's expectation.
Description of Work: He came out and gave me an estimate and I had to pay more than my coupon about twice. They came back to perform the service in my attic. They added baffles and blew in the insulation. My temperature in my bedroom is still the same ,chilly. I was expecting to feel a difference ,but I don't. I would not recommend this service.

+ -1 moreI had been looking into getting my attic up to date with insulation, when I saw this firm on the Angie's List "Big Deal". They had a good rep. and had a very good price. They came out on the day I needed and did an excellent job. They had a 2 man crew at my house for about 6 hours. When they were finished they left the place cleaner than I had left it.
Description of Work: Had attic insulation blown in to get up to the 15 inch level(R-49). Also baffles had to be installed and Ceiling fixtures had to be prepped.

+ -1 moreOriginally I purchased the "deal" for $375.00 to fix an area in my attic that was damaged by raccoons. Knowing that my insulation wasn't up to code, as the house was built in 1978, Mike was able to show me just how much heat I was losiing due to the lack of insulation. He gave me a price I couldn't refuse. Prior to the Angie's Deal, I obtained quotes from several contractors. One contractor quoted me a price to insulate the whole house for 10 times the price that I received from Stop Wasting Engery at Home, Inc.
Description of Work: Mike Maris is THE nicest man. He seems to truly care about his customer's and wants to make sure they understand his process and are happy with the results. He goes the extra mile!

+ 1 moreThe work performed on the crack in the foundation of my house was done in a timely manner and the area around the house was left in good condition. I have had no further water problems. As for the insulation. I noticed immediately that the temperature of the coldest bedroom improved after the addition of the insulation. The set-up work area for the insulation was thoroughly clean-up when they were finished. This project took less time than I thought it would. I recommend using "Stop Wasting Energy At Home" for any work needed.
Description of Work: This year I have used "Stop Wasting Energy At Home" to repair a leak in the foundation of my house. Mike Maris and his partner came when they said they would, they worked the entire time and cleaned up after themselves. Mike explained where the crack was and what he would do to repair it. Besides repairing the crack he had to extend the drain line from the sump pump since it needed to be longer. He also check and clean my sump pump as preventative maintenance and also explained what and why he was doing during the process. Mike also offered to perform an energy check of my house. It showed the areas which would benefit with more insulation which agreed with areas which were "cold" areas of the house. I had him blow-in additonal insulation and felt the difference immediately. Also during this they changed out the washers in the bathrooms and the utility room faucet. Also with this "job" they came when they said they would and when they finished, they cleaned up after themselves. In 2010, I used Mike Maris to renovate the house that I just purchased. The entire place was renovated (three bedroom, three bathrooms and including a new front door). The door is beautiful as well as will insulated and no cold air leaks! He also installed new hardwood floors throughout the entire house except the bedrooms, stripped old wallpaper off and painted all the walls, renovated and repaired a bathroom (having to repair water damage to the wall next to a shower and then re-tile it and install new tiles and shower door as well as a new bathroom floor and new counter top. This included the renovation of the kitchen which inculded new cabinets, granite countertops and floor. I was lucky that I had not moved into the house. Everything turned out perfectly and I am completely happy with the work that was done. As I said before, the workers came when they said they would and in the end everything was cleaned up. I recommend "Stop Wasting Energy at Home" for any home renovation project or repair as well as anything associated with saving energy in your home.

Description of Work: Fast, Great Service. Saved me a bunch of money on my energy bills. Mike was great, he came to our home gave us an accurate estimate. He performed a thermal inspection to our home and found our energy leaks. We then agreed that we need attic insulation and he came within a few days and installed it.
