Not so well. Movers on the Chicago end milked their time to 4 hours despite a 4 person crew for a 2 bedroom SMALL apartment and upcharged us for extra items which they chose to box randomly. Fragile boxes were handled with extra NO care and came pancaked with family treasures (I lost my Dad less that 2 years ago and his items were unreplaceable) broken and battered while they created boxes and over taped unbreakables. It was so odd because a two man crew from Two Men and a Truck moved me into the same apartment (up 2 1/2 HARD flights of Chicago stairs) with far more ease in a blizzard and took half the time. They immediately and VERY scripted (I used to be an actor and these guys should stick to moving) told us we had more than was quoted. These guys were milking and we had to postpone my house closing in Florida by a day mid move despite the fact that they knew we were on a strict schedule to leave Chicago and arrive in Georgia that day. (I should note that the company did call and say we were overcharged, so we did receive a credit, but with their pile of 1988 carbon copies, you'd wonder if you paid for your move AND their health insurance). So we postponed and we were promised by the wonderfully misogynistic NICK that the timeframe to receive our things in Florida would be between 2-10 days guaranteed. I mention Nick because he refused to speak to me and only spoke to my brother who only fronted the Chicago part of the move as a housewarming gift. Despite this, the Chicago "dream team" filled with COVID sneezers and coughers who did not offer the courtesy of mask wearing though we were wearing them tagged every item of my twin sister and my HARD EARNED MONEY as his property. Nice touch. Misogyny or not, they also treated my brother like a chump, so at least we got somewhat fair treatment. So NICK the snake tells my brother the 2-10 days is closer to two and my brother sweetly drives all the way down to Florida to help with the load in. But after 10 days, he has to return to Illinois for work. No worries, our stuff (and some other people's showed up on day 14). Jose and Analdo were swift and kind which made this review tough. I tipped them well and plied them with waters and turned my air down due to the Florida heat. All seemed well until we started going through our things and realized that more items were broken than should have been. To add insult to injury, after the boxes were removed, we realized that our couch was put together incorrectly and therefore was sitting on a 45 degree angle pitching forward. GREAT. We spent a week and multiple drill bits fixing the stripped screws that our seemingly awesome Florida crew used to screw up our couch so they could get to their final stop who nearly lost a vacuum and a box full of beautiful items including a crystal wine carafe had I not had eagle eyes. And NO follow up call from the company. No thank you, no email, nothing. These are not the worst out their from what I know, but they must be close. DO NOT USE THEM. And tell Nick that women like me understand how to use power tools while being extremely successful. What a caveman.

Went great. Martin was easy to work with to setup the job, with good frequent communication and their rates were reasonable. We moved in a small first stage, to get our home ready for staging/photos, and that portion was placed in storage for a month. Then a big moving day, amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. Very concerning for us, but they worked with us to find a solution. Their guys wore masks and gloves and placed our items in the garage to decontaminate for a few days. Would definitely use them again.

I got the name of these guys from a friend who used them to move to the West Coast, and had a good experience. I got a couple other quotes from other companies, and was a little worried because STI came in about 25% less than everyone else. Really though, the whole experience was seamless. I am not sure if there is a term for it, but basically they are a shared van service. Your stuff is loaded into an area on a van, and then they pick up and deliver stuff for other people... in short: it is a lot less expensive but still great service. You have to be a little more flexible with the delivery schedule, but that worked for me. They were super professional though from start to finish. I probably bothered Martin with all my questions, but he always got right back to me. They called me the day before my move to see if I had any questions and reconfirm the pick up time. Guys showed up on time: worked hard, even when we had more stuff than we thought: they helped us pack things we hadn't quite gotten to yet: in short we couldn't have done it without them. They called me a few days before delivery to reconfirm, and then Ron and his crew showed up when they promised and unloaded everything in a couple hours. He even helped me move a couple things around and asked if everything was where I wanted it or if it needed to be moved. Super service, really impressed. Best of all: moving all our stuff 1500mi away - only a really cheap lamp got broken- everything else was perfectly intact. I would definitely use these guys again.

My move with STI was absolutely incredible! My movers (John, Mauricio and Chuy) were as good as they come. They arrived earlier than I anticipated and when they came, they worked non-stop. John was the best mover I've ever seen in my life. They were all friendly, ethical and efficient. Then, the icing on the cake...my bill was lower than I expected! Who does that?!!! I work in real estate and I will definitely refer STI to my clients/family and friends.

If I could give this business negative stars I would. I had a horrible moving experience. The movers in Chicago was great. They were efficient and pleasant. I was actually patting myself on the back for booking STI. Unfortunately everything after Chicago went downhill. The movers came on 5/23/2014. I did not receive all my belongings in Austin until 6/26/2014. Also, regarding how they compensate if they are late is total bs. I called multiple times and apparently no one was in office to help. timeline: 1. Gave my stuff on 5/23 - a Friday 2. Half my stuff shows up on 6/12 - the mover started bringing in my stuff. I started noticing that there were items that were not mine. If I didn't say anything some poor people in San Antonio would probably be missing about 20 items. I call up STI and they say it will come next Friday on 6/20 3. I call on 6/16, 6/17, 6/18, 6/19, 6/20 to see if my items have been shipped. No status update. 4. On 6/23 I get a call that the items were shipped. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't kept calling the stuff wouldn't have gotten out. 5. The items finally arrive on 6/26. If you like your things in a timely manner I would absolutely skip this moving company. I had to spend a lot of money getting stuff to live on waiting for my stuff. I have a 2.5 year old and 10 month old so it wasn't conducive living arrangement. I needed to cook for them and ensure they have a place to sleep.

On pickup day, they were late for about 3 hours so it we didn't finish until late that night. There 2 workers, professional and know what they're doing. It went well. It took a while before we got our furniture back since they were sitting in Chicago. On day of delivery, also 2 workers came in. They had an issue about taking extra charge because they need to use the elevators and go to 3rd floor. We explained that this was not what they communicated to us initially plus on pickup day, we were on the 18th floor and no extra charge for elevators was made. Also talked to manager who was rude and not understanding and stated that if we don't pay it will go out from our agent paycheck which was obviously very rude and we would never do so we ended up paying that extra charge. Other than that, everything was fine and the furniture were overall in good condition.

Let me just preface this with I used STI in January 2014 for a contents of a house move from IN to NY, and was extremely pleased with the movers on both ends as well as Marty with STI who coordinated this. I am still extremely satisfying with the service I received from Marty on the second move. I chose STI again because of the previous satisfactory service and price. My daughter moved from Chicago to Glendale this summer. The movers in Chicago were professional and punctual. I understand the contract with STI that delivery will or should occur within 14 business days of the 1st available delivery date provided by me, and thereafter $25.00 a day compensation applies. On the 11 or 12 day I contacted Marty who stated the truck was in Colorado and we should be receiving a call within the next day-day and half to confirm delivery. Day 14 came and went. I contact Marty again, who was apologetic and advised the delivery will be in 2 days between 3:30pm and 5:00pm. Later that evening my daughter get a call from the driver who was rude and intimidating, bulling and tells her she has to pay him an additional $400.00 for the delivery the next day. I now have a daughter in CA telling me she is afraid of this driver. I call the driver "Guy" who "doesn't care what I was told from STI" regarding the delivery time or date. A not-so-pleasant conversation continues, when someone says "f*** you" I lose all respect for this person or company he represents. I call STI, which is now closed and leave several voice mail messages and asking for a return call the following morning (never returned) then call the dispatch person who answers the phone, tells me he will call the driver and call me back, he doesn't and his voice mail box is full now. I live in NY, I am now calling the Glendale police dept asking them if an officer can be at my daughter's apt. the next morning. I call Marty the next morning, again apologetic, he calls the driver, the movers arrive on time, "Guy" remains in the truck, and "David" is pleasant and does not ask my daughter for the $400.00 Bottom line: hire more employees to answer and return phone calls, screen and hire movers/drivers who you would feel confident with enough to move your family. If summer is your busy season, plan and accommodate accordingly to provide accurate and professional service. My daughter needs to file a claim for damaged furniture. Solana, the STI supervisor authorized $200 compensation instead of $75.00, it's not about the money though, and that doe not replace of the humiliating and offensive experience we went through. Kudos to Marty, who did his best.

Our contact stated things he knew they could not deliver, and at pick-up the movers were nice, but arrived much later than promised with no follow-up call from anyone. Then, when we started signing the actual forms, the lead could not even explain ALL the items in it, so he had us X out items. Took an additional 45 minutes to determine the amount/extent of optional insurance. And this was the good part... We needed storage for a few months, & we understood the process, but we did not expect the amount of time it would take to get out of storage, apparently. Our contact told us even though the contract stated 1-14 business days for delivery from the first available date, it would never take that long. So, we secured an apt 10 days before arriving so we could have everything there when we arrived possibly (because have family there that could assist delivery), or be there & get items soon. First date faintly promised was two days before our arrival & apt deal had not panned out, so we then secured a storage unit to continue our process in stride still. No follow-up phone calls, unless I initiated, continued (my last count was 33 phone calls self-initiated compared to 5 calls back from STI staff & multiple emails which until the last few days were not returned). Once at destination ourselves, we called again & reminded our initial contact that the 10 days would be up that week, while he investigated & did not return call. Follow-up call from me promised delivery the following week probably by Wednesday. In that time, another moving company was able to deliver our vehicle on the exact day promised, & they had no such outdialing phone issues. We secured another apt by that next Tuesday, called STI to inform them & was told we would probably have that week (Now at the 14 days promised). No call, No show, No follow-up. We called them on that Thursday, & were told the delivery was in transit & would be delivered the following Monday, or at the latest Tuesday AM. This being beyond the window, the penalty is $25/day taken off the price. No call. No show. No follow-up. Called Tuesday Noon inquiring why no contact, since policy is for driver to call 24 hours in advance, & was told by Solana, Director of Client Services, that we would receive later that day. No call. No show. No follow-up. Except wait, when I called back that evening to tell them we still had not heard anything, STI wasn't sure where the driver was & why had not called (but since this is the company pattern, why confused?). We were told delivery would be made the next day Wednesday 10am-noon window. And we sat ALL day waiting, until 9:05pm Wednesday, we got a call from driver that he was scheduled to deliver Thursday morning 10am-noon window. Of course, we had to cancel first employment day because not delivered by Wednesday night too. (Their policy is if make our driver wait an hour = $85, up to $350 for the day, while we wait days for $25/day. Just saying). Additionally, the driver was operating under the contract without the reductions from late delivery, and even had the uncorrected address to deliver to, as of 10pm Wednesday Night, only 12 hours before final scheduled delivery, even though STI office insisted everything was good-to-go, no worries about address change from a full 6 days before. Subsequently, we emailed Solana to follow-up with driver & us with new contract total at midnight that night. After 4 repeated emails, I got my "corrected" contract, yet still with the wrong address at 11:31am. Driver arrived at 10am at correct location, only because we directly followed-up with him from previous night. It's all here now, minus some damages & a feeling like we really dodged something that could have been much worse. Not exactly the glowing endorsement they would like. Follow-up Response: "the customer did not understand that there was a delivery spread to california", & I would state we were mislead with: a specific date on June 26 ("by July 1"per Martin so we needed storage unit); on July 3 ("by July 8"per Martin as I reminded him of his statement that it never takes that long); on July 9 ("by July 10"per STI rep trying to help since Martin was not available); on July 11 ("by July 14 or July 15 morning at latest per STI rep when we reminded late then & we had prior committment for that next thursday where he told me "we have to work together"); on July 15 ("by later that day" & then "10am-noon next day"); on July 16 (after no initiation from STI, we called again & Solana was surprised had not heard anything yet & did not know where driver was, then Solana DID call back at 6:30PM to say "driver was delayed & he would call us soon" which he did at 9pm to say "he was scheduled to deliver tomorrow 10am-noon" at the wrong address & for the wrong completion total. Through all of these, there was essentially no STI-initiation of customer service or call backs except for Solana's after-hours stint Wednesday July 16. I would only ask, who didn't understand the delivery spread? As for the emailing that night after talking to their driver with the wrong information, I wanted to get everyone on the same page & sent request for updated contract for driver & me. I sent at midnight, again at 8am, called at 9am & Martin/Solana were not available, so left message with other STI agent that we needed updated contract, emailed again at 10am, again at 11am because driver was there. I received at 11:30am, after the driver had already arrived still with the wrong info, & my form still had wrong delivery address. This is harassment, apparently. No additional comments needed!

We always appreciate feedback, be it good or bad. We were slightly delayed in our delivery to this customer, but compensated per our agreed amount of $25 per business day. The customer did not understand that there was a delivery spread to California, even though he signed multiple documents regarding this both before and during the pick up. I (Solana) spoke with the customer at 6:30 PM on Wednesday which is beyond our normal office hours of 9AM - 6PM. At that time I confirmed with teh customer that our movers were currently unloading a shipment for a senior citizen and they were slightly delayed. Per his feedback "Subsequently, we emailed Solana to follow-up with driver & us with new contract total at midnight that night. After 4 repeated emails, I got my "corrected" contract, yet still with the wrong address at 11:31am." Our office is not open at midnight, nor do we check emails that late. The customer received a response the next business day within the first few hours of opening. Due to the harassing and condescending nature of emails sent to our company by this customer both before his shipment was unloaded and after, we respectfully decline to have further contact and no additional feedback will be given.

The pickup and packing was very well done, but the estimator who came underestimated by about 10%. They were punctual and thorough. They delivered my shipment on the day that we moved into the apartment. The delivery, on the other hand, took much longer than expected due to the disorganization of the delivery men. First, even though I told them which driveway was mine, they put everything in the neighbors driveway, blocking them in. Second, they did not record the inventory number of each box removed from the truck and placed the boxes 3 to 4 high in piles right next to one another. Therefore, I spent almost 1 1/2 hours figuring out it we actually received all the merchandise we shipped. I'm still not 100% sure that we received everything and the movers made no commitment to verifying the shipment. Next, while the packers were able to disassemble my dining room table quickly, it took the delivery men over 2 hours to figure out how to reassemble it, even with written instructions. Lastly, even though we marked the packages we packed with "FRAGILE" or "PUT ON TOP", we found quite a few of our pieces broken due to the handling of those packages. We don't know when the damage occurred, but the packages showed that they had been dropped or fell. I was under the impression that STI would be personally packing and delivering our shipment, but they actually had another company store and delivery our shipment to the destination. The packers knew nothing beyond packing an delivering the shipment to STI's warehouse and the delivery men knew nothing about where the shipment had been before they picked it up from the other warehouse for delivery. No one could guarantee me that all the packages had been shipped and received. I was left to try and determine that myself. The workers, however, did work very hard and I commend their efforts. The office staff was congenial and the shipment was picked up and delivered exactly when I wanted it.

We apologize for the confusion and delays at delivery. This shipment was stored at our company, but picked up from our warehouse and delivered by another company we work very closely with, simply because they were able to deliver to the East Coast area the exact day that you were moving in, rather than waiting our normal delivery spread of 1-10 business days. We have up to 9 months from the date of delivery to file a claim, so if you realize that items are missing or broken, please contact our office. As always, we appreciate your feedback.

Be certain to read and understand the fine print. 3 men and a truck costs $90/hr. There is also a $90hr travel fee. If the men arrive at 10a and finish at 2p with a one hour travel time, you will pay 4x$90 not for 3hrs. Also be prepared to pay an extra 3% for using a credit card. That piece of info is on another screen you reach by tapping "read more". They only take cash, money orders, and cashiers checks otherwise. They also have a coupon on Angie's List but that only pertains to out of state moves - something you will only know if you read all the small print on the second page after you click "buy coupon". The movers were very hard working and did a good job as quickly as possible and were very accommodating. I picked this company because I misunderstood their true pricing. I would have probably searched longer as I had many companies asking for the business. I went to billy.com, put in the size and distance of the move, and had several emails and calls within 24 hours. My call to express my disappointment with the final cost was met with an explanation that it was basically my fault for not reading all the material closely enough. Let that be a lesson to anyone else considering STI. They did offer to refund the credit card surcharge.

Response from STI Moving & Storage Inc
We're very sorry that the information in your estimate wasn't clear. Our sales team tries to be as thorough as possible in explaining all potential charges for moves. In the case of this particular move, the truck/travel fee was exactly the same as the hourly rate for the movers. Although the total estimated cost with movers and travel was explained over the phone prior to reserving and via email in a confirmation that was signed by the customer, it is possible that there could have still been some confusion, We'll revisit our confirmation process to see if there is something that can be done to make things more clear going forward. As always, we appreciate the feedback.

The move was excellent. I have had several corporate moves in the last 10 years and this was the best one by far. The movers were professional and courteous. The move was completed under budget and on time. What else could a consumer ask for? I would use them again in a heartbeat. Use STI if you want a hassle free move.
Description of Work: STI moved my household goods from Chicago to Cincinnati, Ohio. The movers were professional and helpful.

STI was very communicative and timely. I called before the move to add instructions to the order and was relieved when the drivers had every detail I conveyed "in hand". They called when they were on their way and got there exactly when they said they would. They made sure everything was moved and that nothing got left behind.
Description of Work: Great Service, great communication, great personnel - they moved us as quickly as possible and wrapped everything very carefully. Would hire again! Great Experience!

They did just fine. The process could've been quicker, but I asked them to take their time with scheduling me. I wasn't ready to move just yet but when I was, they were flexible in fitting me in. The movers were wonderful. They packed everything well, and they were polite. My brother met them at the house, and he said they were nice to him as well. I was very pleased with them overall.
Description of Work: I have a place in South Carolina, and they moved a small pod of furniture for me from my house here in WI.
