Great job!

From my initial phone calls with the office staff to the completion of the work by the crew, everyone we dealt with at Steinhardt Builders was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. We moved into our house about a year ago and knew from our home inspection that the insulation in the attic was inadequate. Living through one winter, we found the house was drafty and one bedroom in particular was especially cold. Steinhardt Builders is one of Com Ed's approved energy efficiency providers for the Com Ed / Nicor Gas rebates. We received two quotes from two approved providers but chose to hire Steinhardt based on their exceptional customer service and knowledgeable staff. In summary, in our upper attic, they installed soffit baffles, an air barrier around the skylight and blew in insulation. In the crawlspace, they sprayed foam insulation on the rim joists and installed insulation panels on the crawlspace walls. They performed the door blower test before and after the work was done to quantify their work. We couldn't be more pleased. It's only been a few days, but the house already feels left drafty and we've made adjustments to our thermostat that we know over the years will save us money. He gave me a list of options that would save me from wasting energy. For example he noticed that my recessed lighting had no covers to keep the air from going in and out. Also that I needed an inlet for the roof and suggested I put in roof vents. Also caulking windows as the caulking was cracked.

Very happy with the work as completed, especially when subsidized by the state program. The work was scheduled and then pushed back a few days because of some delays on other jobs they were working on and weather during those scheduled days. The majority of the work was completed in one day, and another crew came back out a week later to finish up part of it, and then the roofers were able to complete the work after that. The scheduling wasn't perfect but I understand there were a lot of moving parts, and thankfully it wasn't a huge inconvenience for us involving multiple days taken off of work or any no-shows or miscommunications.

They are definitely professionals in their field. The office helped us get into the NICOR/COMED program and facilitated the processing of the paperwork. On the day of the insulation, they were in early morning and immediately covered all areas they would be working in, as well as all hallways. They worked as cleanly as possible and cleaned up after themselves. They were very responsive to any questions I raised during the day and were very careful to make sure to check that they were as out of our way as possible.
