Very professional and the work was done very efficiently and he cleaned up afterwards and left the area spotless. The service was great but I think Carrier needs to work on the quality of its top of the line furnaces as a heat exchanger should not go bad after 6 years

Shavitz installed a new fan coil and central AC unit in December 2017. The first annual fan coil maintenance call was provided at no charge. Ramiro, the service man, arrived exactly at the scheduled time. He performed the maintenance work and explained each step of the process to me. Ramiro also recommended some changes to the thermostat settings which he programmed with my approval. Overall, i was very pleased and i will have Shavitz do the annual maintenance of the fan coil and AC unit.

It went quite well. The technicians (yes, two) showed up close to the scheduled time (there was a window allowed for arrival) and got right to work. They checked the furnace and determined there were no problems and moved on the boiler (we have both forced-air and baseboard heating). There was a problem with the thermocouple and I authorized replacement. All done and gone in roughly an hour. Well done.

Writing this review is not what I want to be doing on a Sunday, but what's one more hour out of my life after so many I've spent on this issue? I was in Europe when I received a call from my petsitter that water was leaking into my family room. I spent hours from my hotel room locating a plumber and scheduling him to arrive when my upstairs neighbor could let him in to my condo. He diagnosed the problem as coming from my upstairs neighbor's AC unit. My neighbor uses Shavitz to perform regular maintenance on this unit. They looked at it, and claimed responsibility for the leak because, during a recent inspection, they had not noticed the issue that had caused it. I cut my vacation one week short and flew home to deal with the mitigation (removal of the wet carpet and ceiling). I spent all of July 3 (until 8:00 p.m.) finding companies to do the work, comparing prices, and getting it done before the holiday (mitigation work needs to be done quickly). That day, Rich Davis from Shavitz called me, very apologetic, and assured that Shavitz would "make me whole", which I appreciated. He told the same to my neighbor. It should be noted here that my neighbor was very close to purchasing a second AC system from Shavitz for about $10K, but it was not yet a done deal. Rich turned me over to Eric Seal, also at Shavitz, to "make me whole" from there. I forwarded him estimates for carpet, electrical, and drywall/painting work (I tried to keep the price low for them) and he told me to go ahead with the work. My neighbor bought the AC system from Shavitz. Shavitz, instead of paying directly for the carpet, electric, and drywall/painting, as we had discussed, then turned me over to their insurance company, which was now another headache on top of all the other headaches. The insurance claim from their insurance company came to $900 less than what I would actually pay, as they depreciate the carpet and drywall (like you can replace used carpet and a ceiling with equally old carpet and ceiling like you can a used car). Eric Seal, by this time, no longer responded to my calls or emails. Had I not forwarded my estimates to Eric Seal, who then forwarded them to the insurance company without my permission, who knows -- maybe they would have estimated a higher amount? My neighbor spoke on my behalf with Bronson Shavitz, the man who inherited the business, and Bronson Shavitz declined to pay me the $900 difference. He offered a $300 credit towards Shavitz services. So much for "making me whole." I should have gone through my own insurance company from the beginning.

José was great very through and good job. Glad he used a vacuum.

Ken was professional and responsive to our needs. Even changing the height of our thermostat out of our toddler’s reach. So far we are very happy

I suggest try to avoid this company's service. The major reason is the they overcharge you and there are hidden fees they don't tell upfront. I end paying 3 times more than what I am promised over the phone. I am quite dissatisfied, and here is my experience: My air-conditioner stopped working and my real state agent give me a list of contractors who can do the inspection service. Shavitz was the last on the least. Now I know why. I was going tricked by their high ratings so I am doing some correction here. At first, I was told over the phone the flat rate of inspection is $120. I thought this is reasonable given the good reviews, more expensive than some contractor but also cheaper than others. The technician Brad came 6 minutes late than scheduled, after some checking he seems not quite certain about where went wrong and made several phone calls the entire time. After about 40 minutes, he said the unit was mounted in the wall and one needs to pull the thing out to check. He claimed it is too heavy and he cannot do it by himself and told me I would pay more. I wasn't expecting this, as I already explained everything clearly over the phone and was told the flat rate is $120. But he said he cannot give me an answer as which part went wrong if I don't pay more. I don't want to waste time here and agreed. The rate is $120 per hour and he promised at most one additional hour is good. Funny thing happened after that, he deliberately slowed down knowing I would pay him more. He continued to make phone calls in a low voice. I couldn't hear it clearly. One thing for sure is, he seems cannot handle the situation alone. I think the guy through the phone helped him identified the parts that may went wrong. After about 2 hours he finished checking and put back the dismantled parts. I thanked him and asked him to send me the quote later through email for both changing the broken part and the whole unit. He wouldn't leave and just sat down by table and starting to make phone calls. I asked what he is doing, he said he is trying to get the quote. I said this is not possible because one has to contact the manufacturer to get the details, and you certainly cannot sit down with a phone call. I knew that because I had some other contractors to come over to do this. And it take 1-2 weeks for the manufacturer to get back. Obviously Brad cannot make any further progress, this wasted about 20 minutes. And then he started to ask when we want to schedule next inspection because another group will have to come and check if we want to change the entire unit. He started to make phone calls again. We were nice and shy to ask him to leave, but thought he is just being nice since he charged more. It took another 20 minutes for him to do so. I don't know why this is taking so long, for a while I was just sitting there watching him to browsing the phone. Then it took him another long while to pack and finally print out the bill. The bill comes to about $360, for 2 hours and 45 minutes, where he claimed the $120 was for only first 45 minutes. I am paying them to check what is wrong with the air-conditioner, not to make phone calls. This is a very high hourly rate, and the technicians are not supposed to do that. This is very unprofessional. 2 weeks after the inspection, I am still not getting the quote from Brad. I didn't bother to ask as I already choose to use other contractors. I complained about my experience and no one cared to reply. I think this is the kind thing you will likely to experience if you use their service. Be cautious of their high rating. I now highly question the authenticity of the ratings.

After 4 hot days with no cooling from my A/C system, it was a welcome relief to know within 20 minutes that the issue was likely a malfunctioning part (which Kevin showed me). He kept me well informed during the entire visit and was quite professional in his conversations and handling of the problem. And he remained on site until he was sure everything was working correctly. I would love to have him back for all my repair needs!

I've been using Shavitz for maintenance on both my HVAC systems for three years, and they've been great in every aspect. Because of my trust in their work, I'm now on a service contract. A while back, Shavitz also replaced my A/C coil in one of the furnaces that failed due to the installing company's poor installation. That repair was also perfect.

Shavitz is great. They're not the least expensive place you can find, but you get what you pay for. They are always punctual, and the technicians are always helpful, professional, and polite. I have used them to repair a leaky duct and they were prompt about completing the work, which is great because I needed to schedule drywall work once they were finished. I recently had my AC go out on a really hot 95º day, and they were admittedly busy, but a tech came to my house and stayed until 9-9:30pm to making sure our air conditioner was working. He also recognized a leak and they quickly processed our warranty claim that was set to expire in the next two weeks. Problem totally fixed in less than a week. Good contractors are hard to come by - I couldn't ask for anything more.

My experience with Jose L who did the work was great. He was prompt, professional, friendly and helpful. He was patient with my questions and showed clear dedication to delivering a quality experience. I would rate him straight As across the different categories. Scheduling the service was a different story. I'd grade that a C at best, maybe D. After multiple emails and phone calls that were not returned we finally got someone on the phone and scheduled the service, but they still couldn't provide us full information on the estimated cost of a simple repair. On top of that, it was a 6 week wait for someone to come out. We've been happy with Shavitz in the past but this was a bad experience. We're on their maintenance plan so we hope that will mean better service in the future.

Excellent service from my first call to Hope and then Linda who explained in complete detail what would be required to service my air conditioner and the cost. The servicemen, Branden and Jose, were very professional and went over my HVAC unit completely. The only access to the unit’s condenser coil is from the outside which needed to be cleaned/hosed down. I’m in a 3rd floor condo which requires an extension ladder to reach. Most HVAC service will not go any higher than 25 feet but the Shavitz servicemen had no problem reaching my unit which is approximately 35 feet up. Price for the service was a little higher than I expected but I fully understand after observing the work done. I will highly recommend Shavitz to others in my condo building including our building manager and also anyone who is in need of HVAC service. Great service from my initial call thru service completion.

The service is good. Their technician know what they're doing. They're knowledgeable, helpful and comprehensive to do everything they needed to do.

The tech was excellent! Explained everything he was doing and showed me what the problem was and how it was being solved. And as I am in a high rise, he had to crawl out a window to get to the unit - which he did without complaint!.

Installers were prompt, professional and knowledgeable- they did a great job. I would highly recommend Shavitz for A/C repair and service. Ernie and Johnny talked me through the process, gave me an accurate time estimate and worked diligently to get our A/C back up and running on a very, very hot day.

On the first visit the technician, Craig, injected a die that would reveal the location of the leak. Three weeks later he returned, and sure enough, the die could be seen leaking under a black light (in the attic-based equipment). Craig provided me with the photos and option for repair and timing. Very satisfied customer.

Shavitz is always a pleasure to work with. I subscribe to their biannual maintenance plan for AC/Furnace. Shawn was very informative and professional. He explained what he was doing at each step. He made sure my AC units (2 of them) were in good working order and nice and clean (he removed ivy from around one unit, to prevent problems in the future). He also installed Hard Starts on my units so they’ll function better.

The unit is very old and it's not worth fixing as it needs to be replaced. The technician was very knowledgeable and informed me of my options. I have been using Shavitz for years and they replaced my main HVAC unit a few years back. They always come through and make it happen. When other companies say no, they try and come up with solutions to help.

Craig did a fantastic job of walking us through the work he was performing as well as making sure things were done correctly and to our satisfaction.

I been having trouble with my AC split level units not responding (they also include heat pumps). The original company that installed these are no longer around. I wanted to find someone that had lasting power and were pros. I saw that Shavitz has been in business for 4 generations! I read the reviews and was impressed. I schedule a service call and the first person who came out here was Brandon. He really went through and check out all the units and the outside controller. He discovered the problem was with a controller board. Brandon checked with the manufacturer if the board was under warranty (it wasn't). The part wasn't ready available and had to be ordered and installed at a later date. Brandon did a very thorough job of making sure the rest of the system was fine. The job was completed by Kevin early the next week. Kevin was also very friendly and pleasant to talk to. I learn a lot about the system. He was able to get the units up and running very quickly and throughly check everything was in good working order. I'm very happy with the service and responsiveness with the company. They answered all of my questions and I felt very comfortable with them. I do plan to hire them again for all future maintenance of my AC and boiler.

Had a 10/10 experience with Will, Mike, and Mirek. From Will coming out to provide a quote, to his follow-up communications, and to Mike and Mirek installing the system today... couldn't ask for anything more. Friendly, knowledgeable, worked fast, etc. One of the best customer experiences I've ever had. I got quotes from 4 other HVAC companies, too, so had lots to compare these guys to. Happy I went with Shavitz. Hopefully the system works well over time--I certainly was left with a feeling of high confidence from this team.

My husband and I were impressed with Shavitz from the very beginning. There customer service is excellent. They not only provided us with the name of the person, Will, coming out to provide recommendations and a quote for a new air conditioner, but they also provide us with a small bio on his history with the business as well as the industry, which we thought nice touch. When Will came out to give us an estimate he walked both my husband and I through the various options and provided a good, better, best ranking. Will had a family emergency the day of the install, but he had Rich come in his place and made sure that he was up to speed on our needs so it was seamless transition the day of the install. Rich, Cosmin, and Linas were nothing but professional and easy going. I was put right at ease as they walked me through the different elements they were going to change for us. Cosmin and Linas jumped right into the project. When it came to the install of the unit it was slightly bigger than our old one, so they had me come out to make sure it was placed where I wanted it. They gave me additional insight as to why it would be better to place it a few more inches away from the house to be able to access it for maintenance, which I appreciated as I wouldn't have known to do that. When the job was finished Cosmin and Linus made sure to walk me through everything that was changed, explained how often to have it cleaned and left all to documents need for the unit in a packet for easy reference. My husband and I would highly recommend Shavitz Heating & Air Conditioning (especially Will, Rich, Cosmin, and Linas) and they would be the first ones we call should we have additional heating and air conditioning needs.
