Shavitz Heating and Air Conditioning

Work was done very professionally. James answered all questions. I knew the furnaces needed repairs because of leak when AC was on - he did this work and some upgrades to systems as well as scheduled maintenance. He was punctual, worked continuously, cleaned up, very nice. I have used Shavitz for installations, maintenance and repairs since 2005 and always satisfied with their work and there reminders to change the filters. Very nice company. I wouldn't use any other company for HVAC work.

They are great. We have been using them for 32 years. We really like what they do. I know that if I need anything, I can just pick up the phone and I can even send them a text now. They get back to me. They call me in the morning and tell me when they are going to be there. They tend to show up either on time or a little early. I will absolutely use them again. They are coming next month to do the annual cleaning of the furnace.

It's great and they had the work done. I called them again. They did a good job. I would use them again in the future.

I didn’t need to have them come back. It was fine. They surely provided the service could they have. They offered to come back at no charge. Before we could reschedule it, the guy who installed it called me and said that the part was recalled and they replaced it. We didn’t have any more trouble with it. We didn’t really need the service and I never called Shavitz to come back. They didn’t really do anything but they were prompt and they came out when they said they were going to be here. Unfortunately, he couldn't work on it.

Had a new AC installed. From beginning to end, everyone was professional and attentive. The experience was great.

The technician, Chris R. was professional, knowledgeable and explained what was needed to repair my central air conditioner. I really appreciated the quick response from Shavitz regarding my air conditioner. Our air conditioner stopped working the evening of 7/06/14 and Chris R. repaired it on the morning of 7/07/14! It was especially important, since the heat and humidity could have become a health problem.

Flash forward one week and I have still not received a quote from Ryan, he didn't pick up his cell phone or return my calls, and when I called the office they were un-helpful. Regardless I felt a need to still obtain the quote just to check it against the other professionals that I had visit the site. It is now 2.5 weeks later and I have still not received a quote. I called the office this morning and they were appalled by Ryan Smith's behavior and had him call me. He left me a message saying that Shavitz was declining to give a quote due to the nature of the project. I called the office and they told me that Ryan said that we were doing things too cheaply and that it was not in Shavitz's best interest to do the job. I told the representative that if Ryan felt as though this was the case that he should have presented an alternative that he thought would work better, and I would have reviewed that with equal interest. As an architect I have never met such a level of stupidity and unprofessional behavior in a company. I don't understand how replacing one furnace with two and re-doing duck-work as well as adding an AC is"doing things cheaply." As a professional I can say that if I wanted to "do things cheaply" I would have simply replaced the existing furnace and not bothered with the additional work. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a new HVAC system for their house not bother with Shavitz.

Our HVAC system located on the upper floor of our townhome was quite old and starting to fail. We decided it was time to upgrade before the summer hot weather arrived. A few years ago I switched to Shavitz for maintenance of our 2 systems, and have been very pleased with their work. I contacted Shavitz for a proposal in May and accepted their quote for a new system which was installed in June. Installation Specialists Cosmin and Jarek showed up promptly as expected at 8am. Service Manager Joe was also on hand to review the work that was to be done, and stayed until he was satisfied that the work was proceeding as planned. The new equipment arrived on a separate truck. It was checked out, and the installers started right away to dismantle the old system. The system is on our 4th floor and the compressor is on the 5th floor roof, so the work involved going up and down lots of stairs. They were careful not to do any damage removing the old system. The new system was installed, with some duct work changed to better fit the system and space, and the filter is now much easier to change than before. The system was checked out to make sure it was working as expected. The new compressor is much quieter than the old one. A new anti-vibration mat was installed under the new compressor and the compressor for the other existing system, which has considerably reduced the noise in our home. This was a big install and it took Cosmin and Jarek all day to do the work. As usual Shavitz technicians are very professional, efficient, and courteous. The system works very well cooling the upper floors much more efficiently and keeping the house at the right temperature. We are very happy with the work and the new system and recommend Shavitz wholeheartedly, and when it is time to replace our other system, we will have Shavitz do the work.

I always ask for Cornelius because he gives great service plus very good and fair advice. He knows the details of the system and can explain the pros and cons of repairs and options. He does a thorough inspection and tune-up and answers all questions with full information geared to a non-specialist. I will probably continue my maintenance agreement with Shavitz as long as I can get Cornelius as my technician. He is very professional and pleasant.

The service tech was prompt and professional. He inspected my furnace and told me that my humidifier was not working. He couldn't tell me why my programmable thermostat periodically shuts itself off, but gave me a workaround, but that still didn't solve the problem. He gave me quotes to replace both the thermostat and the humidifier, neither of which I accepted. However, I wasn't dissatified with the service call and would probably call on this company in the future.

I asked them if they want to adjust their pricing (at least for me) to match All Temps. They declined. They couldn't offer any explanation for the discrepancy. I'm sure they provide great service, but not at that premium.

The first step was a meeting with a Shavitz consultant (David Bidne) to assess my HVAC needs. This was the most important step in the entire process. Our meeting lasted something close to 2 hours. David examined my current system and took careful measurements to estimate both the square footage involved and what units would fit in the available spaces. He asked many questions and also patiently answered my questions. We agreed on the units to be installed, including a more powerful AC condenser. We also agreed on the price. Technicians installed the new units about 2 weeks later. The process was lengthy, but thorough. The units have run smoothly providing appropriate heating and cooling with no issues of any kind over the past year. My electricity usage, even given the horrendous winter of 2013-2014, has been lower than in past years.

Shavitz and their rep, Joe B. were very professional. The installation was provided in the time proposed and the techs doing the work were very polite and helpful. I am using them again for a water heater replacement.

They were awesome, I would recommend them to anyone. My impression is that it's high quality so are they the lease expensive? No. Do they give really good work? I feel that way, I think so I would recommend them if you can afford them. They always come early on time, they're all very nice, very knowledgeable, followed up very well, efficient with the supplies, and very professional. They're top notch because they've been around for 19 years. They're very flexible. They reply quickly, well read, it's not like you're getting hacked up with emails or anything like that. I feel like they're high quality and things were explained to me. Most of other companies, they're not going to have technicians that were going to do that. I feel like if they go a step beyond that needed to be done I like it's required, it's not like "Hey, check in 95" it's like I live and breath this and this is what I do. They did excellent work unfortunately, we weren't able to go enough in air conditioning and heating put in but my feeling is they did everything top notch, we did have any problems, and everything was done right.

We had a new furnace and AC installed and have had the annual service contract since then. They always do a great job and are punctual and friendly and explain things well.

Very thorough, considerate and neat. Actually saved me money be reusing a circulating pump which I thought needed to be replaced.

Usual twice yearly maintenance contract is about $350 (for all units). They also installed new furnace and AC about 7 years ago. They are excellent - responsive, careful, clean up, reasonably priced. One year when AC broke during hot weather and family member was ill, they came out immediately - very understanding of situation. Highly recommend them.

Always neat and professional

I think that the charge of $189 for the thermocouple replacement was excessive.

It took them six months to get my systems working properly. They were always good about scheduling my service as quickly as possible, but it took them 8-10 service calls to get everything running properly. We even had to have a Sunday service call for water in a pan with an electrical hookup in the water! So, while I like the Shavitz people, they do not deserve an A rating since they couldn't seem to "get it right." I am now tied to them because of the warranties for my new equipment and I am hoping all goes well in the future.

They are always courteous and punctual, and don't seem to oversell on either services or products.

Very meticulous and professional checkup by Cornelius. He reviewed and cleaned up everything in the furnace, replaced the airfilter for the furnace and for the humidifier, and restored the flow of the humidifier. Cornelius is very nice, efficient, knowledgeable and very courteous--the best serviice man I have encountered in a long time! He re-installed correctly a piece that had been incorrectly put back by the last company I had used (and will never use again) and indicated what might have to be changed next and at what cost. Will certainly recommend Shavitz highly.

installed a new furnace 2 years ago and routine heating and A/C on contract since

We have been using SHAVITZ HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING since we bought our home. They have done all annual maintenance, repairs and replacements. This visit was annual maintenance and as always they were great!

Shavitz is really a cut above when it comes to providing excellent service. Everyone (including office staff, sales staff and repair technicians) is extremely conscientious. My sales rep, Ryan always responded to my emails. I got confirmation calls from both the office and my technician (Cornelius) on the day of service. There were some delays due to weather, so I really appreciated the calls. Even so, Cosamine (the installer) was early, which was great. They use clean tarps as a matter of course, so I didn't have to remind them to take off shoes to protect my new wood floors. Also, when they unpack the new equipment, they save all of the manuals, warranties etc. and provide to you. Again, I saw this as another indication of their strong commitment to service. I was impressed that Ryan also came out and assisted with the installation. Everything went very, very smoothly. They do a very thorough furnace check (more thorough it seems to me than other comparable companies) and Cornelius gave me a helpful report of everything he did, including recommendations for my water heater, which was crackling badly and needed to be replaced. I did not hesitate to use Shavitz (Cosamine) again to install my new water heater about a month later. Even though I paid a little more, I am very glad that I had a high quality company install and service my furnaces. Such competent service makes things a lot less stressful for the home owner. Also, the severe cold we have had this winter shows just how important it is to have reliable heat. Everything is working great! I am very pleased with Shavitz' service and would not hestitate to recommend.
