S & S GLASS COMPANY INC

Over four months after starting my project, I am still waiting for owner of the company, Scott Weingart, to follow through on correcting details. Scott was quick to ask for my credit card to charge the first 50% of the job, two weeks before initial installation. He was even quicker to charge my credit card (they had the number saved from taking the deposit) for the balance on the day of installation. His crew forgot to remove a 12" wood shim used to prop up a sheet of glass and subsequently hadn't caulked that sheet of glass, one door bottom sweep was installed damaged, one door top sweep wasn t installed at all, and one towel bar did not match the style of the door handle. After I notified S & S (Scott was surprised about the shim) they promptly removed the shim and said they needed to order the other parts. S & S is pleasant enough to sometimes have a person answer the office phone and take messages, but company follow up, attention to detail, and commitment to customer satisfaction is horrible. I ve come to realize that there is a lack of communication coordination between their voice mail, the receptionist, the owner who is in and out of the office, and the field crews about where, when, and what needs to be done and what is left undone. It seems they are always scrambling on the current job so they can get paid. Two weeks ago, in desperation, I told the receptionist that I was an Angie's List member. She quickly called me back and set an appointment. Unfortunately, but par for the course, the day of Scott canceled because they were too busy. At my request, they have re-scheduled twice, but they have never shown up nor have they initiated any re-scheduling. In fact, they sound surprised to learn their workmen haven t been at the job. I certainly did not get what I paid for. Watch your wallet with these guys or you'll be watching water leak as I am.

FIRSTLY, WHEN I RANG THE WEATHERSHIELD WINDOWS DEALER AND GOT A REPLY ASKING WHAT A GLASS COMPANY HAD TO DO WITH WINDOWS, ALARM BELLS RANG, APART FROM THE POOR REPORT ON ANGIE'S LIST. WE LIVE IN A CONDOMINIUM TOWNHOUSE COMPLEX AND THE HOME ASSOCIATION SPECIFIES THAT THE WINDOWS MUST BE WEATHERSHIELD WINDOWS. S&S DID THE JOB FOR THE COMPLEX IN THE PAST AND SCOTT FEELS THAT THEY HAVE A MONOPOLY THERE. SCOTT WAS RATHER ABRUPT AND NOT RESPONSIVE TO PRICE NEGOTIATION. WE WERE STUPID AND DID NOT SHOP AROUND A BIT MORE BEFORE PLACING A DEPOSIT. AFTER CHANGING OUR MIND, NOTIFYING THEM OF THE CANCELLATION AND PLACING A HOLD ON THE CHECK, SCOTT IMPOSED A $70 CANCELLATION FEE ON US. WE WILL PURSUE THAT ISSUE WITH THE SMALL BUSINESS BUREAU. OVERALL, ONE MUST RETHINK TWICE BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY.
