RITE LOCK & SAFE

Don at the shop was rude from the start. He said there would be a 15% surcharge for using credit cards. Then the keys didn't work. I brought them back to the shop. They would not recut them. They insisted on buffing them only. I brought them back home again and the still did not work. I just had to throw them away. I would have had better luck getting them cut at Home Depot.

After all was said and done and I paid by check, the guy that did the work said, "you know, it would have been cheaper if you had asked for X instead." That would have been a better form of service to deliver prior to starting the work. The quality of the job was fine - just disappointed at a lack of transparency upfront.

They basically matched whatever the best offer was on Angie's List. They were good. The tech that I worked with was really straightforward honest guy so that stood out. We had conversations so it was good. I'd give them A all the way. If I had to, I'd use them again.

I'm frankly very surprised by what happened with Rite Lock, because the process began well, and then deteriorated. I am an out of town landlord and was in town for one day for an inspection and various repair work. I set the appointment up with Rite Lock many weeks in advance, and per their request sent pictures of the doors and locks that needed replacement. Unfortunately when they arrived they told me one of the doors was too thick and would require special lock hardware. Didn't sit all that well with me, since I had spent the time having my tenants take and send me pictures for Rite Lock, but that's the way it goes sometimes. However what really disappointed my was the total lack of followup. The technician said he would call later that day with information and a price quote for the door. He never did. I called that afternoon to check on that quote, and they said they'd call back. Never did. I then sent an email to them for an update a few days later, no response. The lack of any response back is what earned the "F".

Kevin came on time and was professional. He did a good job changing the locks.

Steve Zumann with Rite Lock & Safe was wonderful. He was able to fix my old Welch mortise lock which was no longer operable. He was able to accommodate me and come a little earlier in the day as I had requested which helped me out a lot. As he fixed me lock we talked about the work that was being done and he explained the inner workings of my lock. He was a pleasure to deal with and even checked another lock on the way out. My lock is working great now and I would not hesitate to call Steve again.

They were fabulous. I called them the day of the service and they came that same day, terrific!

Basic service. I had some trouble with the lock a few days later because it kept getting stuck.

I provided information about the problem and drove over to get the suggested key just before they closed on a Saturday. Much to my disappointment, the key did not work. I called back on Monday and returned with the key. One of the other locksmiths had an idea for a different blank and made another key at no charge that worked perfectly. Problem solved without an expensive house call.

I contacted Matt Grubisic of Rite Lock & Safe via the Angie's List message center, outlined what I needed and received a response the following day. He stated that he would be happy to change my locks and re-key other locks for me. Instead of sending another message I decided to visit his shop and describe in detail what I needed. I stopped by the shop and met Matt. I outlined all the work I needed done and we set up an appointment that fit his schedule. He confirmed the appointment, said he would be happy to do the work and that he would be at my house on the agreed day and time. The day and time of the appointment arrived and he did not. He did not show up and he never called or contacted me to explain why he blew off our appointment. I believe it turned out the best for me since I found another locksmith on Angie's List and he turned out to be prompt, efficient and extremely knowledgeable.

The locksmith was on time, extremely courteous and pleasant. He fixed my back door lock quickly and did a minor adjustment to the front door lock while he was at it.

Working with Rite Lock & Safe has been a very good experience. On 7/6/12 the locksmith tech came on time. I had wanted to get the same old regular locks installed. When the tech came he accessed my locks and in detail informed me of different options available regarding lock systems. He really informed me regarding the different locks, that I upgraded from the old system I had. The tech was very clean in his installation. I will use and refer Rite Lock & Safe again.

After contacting the largest lock repair company in my area that I have used for years, they told me they couldn't get parts for my door knob (it was from a rarely used but expensive manufacturer). The people at Rite went the extra mile and contacted the manufacturer in Canada, got the parts and did the repair work. They were friendly and their great service helped me so that I would not have to install two new matching door knobs instead of just fixing the broken one. I will use Rite in the future!

He was on time, which is very important to me. He did a great job. I was very satisfied. They are neat, clean, and charge a fair price.

I needed a doorknob & lock and deadbolt put on a new side garage door. I also needed it keyed to my other doors. I called on Wed. The person I spoke to was polite and intelligent. He gave me a choice of products and prices. We agreed on locking doorknobs and a dead bolt. I asked if they worked on Saturdays. They do at no extra charge. Seth was there on time. He called first to tell me he was on his way. He was a good worker and explained what he was doing. He was done in an hour and on his way. An excellent experience.

We were locked out of our house and called Angie's List to get a list of some locals. They told us about this locksmith. He called me back in about 10 minutes and was at our house within 20 minutes. He tried the locks; got in after some efforts on the others. He then set up a time for us to have him put a new cylinder on our front lock. He was very professional, thorough and extremely friendly. We will definitely do business with him again.

The locksmith arrived promptly and performed the service very quickly. It was a weekend, so we understand their price, but would have appreciated a sliding scale for such an easy job.

The locksmith arrived on time, was very, very courteous, and discrete. He worked efficiently. He did a really great job. We especially appreciated it because it was a very stressful situation for us. To our surprise, all the keys were originals. We thought there would be one original and six copies.

I love my door! It works perfectly and I feel safe and it was nice dealing with a competent locksmith.

Very pleased with the work they did. Only complaint is that they were scheduled to come out between 1 and 4:30 pm and when I called at 4:45 pm to find out if I had the right day and time, I was told that a job had run over and they would need to reschedule. Hard for me to know how long it would have taken for someone to have called me instead. Rescheduling was easy, though, and the locksmith was right on time and did a great job.

My interaction with them was great. I would recommend them. They were responsive, quick, and knowledgeable.

They made an appointment after 5pm so I could let them in after my work day was over. He was quick, knowledgeable, very pleasant and thorough. They came highly recommended by a facilities director for a large company who hires a variety of professionals all the time. They were a great find.

Les came out on Monday and gave me an estimate - he was always punctual or called to say he would be a few minutes late. I had thought he was going to do the work that day, but had to scheduled the work for Wednesday. He came out on Wed and did the work (so I thought). As it turned out, he forgot to re-align 1 of the locks so it didn't lock and looked at another lock, but that one wouldn't lock either. I called the office and he was suposed to come out the next Mon, but never showed or called. I called the office again and they sent out Kevin the next morning. Kevin fixed everything, was very professional and had some security hints. I would definitely use Kevin at Rite Lock again.

From start to finish I found Rite Lock and Safe to be very professional. The gentleman who took the appointment told me exactly what I needed to provide to them and gave me an estimate over the phone. I was told that the locksmith would be at the house between 2pm and 3pm; he arrived exactly at 2. I had asked for four locks to be changed, and the locksmith said that on one of the doors it might not be worthwhile; the entire door needs to be replaced. He was honest even though it meant a smaller job, which I appreciated very much. He said a new door would be much safer than just a new lock. He also recommended we install motion lights around certain areas of the home. When the job was finished the locksmith gave us the keys and the bill (which was less than the estimate). He was very professional and I was pleased with the service.
