Raul, was courteous and even met me at my house at 7am. He quoted me $60 for the lawn mow work and $20 for fertilizer. $80 is pricey for lawn mowing but worth every penny considering the condition of the lawn. The work was performed the next day and it was professional and excellent work. Raul edged the lawn and removed all the grass that was growing inbetween the cracks on the sidewalk and parkway. Removed all the spikey weeds that lined the grass closest to the house (there was a lot). I called Raul the next day to thank him for the excellent work and to ask for the bill. He said he would drop it off later today. Great guy and a true professional, he always answers his phone and calls you back.

It took 2 times to get a call-back. When came out for estimate, quoted each individual item that we wanted separately. On the spot we said we were interested, but wanted to see a written estimate first. Workers showed up without a call to do the work (which wasn't an issue for us). Foreman showed up and said he would return with the official estimate, but didn't. Didn't receive the bill for almost a month. Price was as was quoted. Work done was great and quick. Hired them to do bi-weekly work. Have done it twice and done a very good job, but still haven't sent us a bill for the work.

Fine. It is difficult to sometimes get a call back, but I think it's a language barrier. I had to ask several times to get some small bushes trimmed - this type of bush can be left to expand or can be trimmed into a neat ball. I wanted them trimmed. Overall, my lawn has never looked better, except they killed all the weeds in the front, leaving nothing green. But, it needed to get re-seeded anyway.

In fall 2007, my husband and I had decided to try to build our own patio in our back yard. After digging out the 10x20 area about 8 inches deep, laying the gravel and buying the sand and the pavers, we decided that there was a reason people hire professionals to do this work. We covered up the project with a big tarp and left it for the winter. In June of 2008, I called Raul to see if he could finish the job. He called me back immediately and gave me a good price to finish the job and also to haul away the huge mound of dirt that we had created last fall. The crew arrived exactly when he said they would and did a terrific job. I would highly recommend them!

Raoul and his crew do decent work and the prices are reasonable. However, his communication and responsiveness are so bad it borders on comic. At first, we called a couple times to see when he was coming. Finally they showed up without warning - and without Raoul. I called him to see if he could come by the next morning with the crew so we could talk through a couple things - it had been a while since we had signed off on the estimate. He did not show, and we got no call. The crew worked two days and the things looked pretty good, but... After a couple weeks it became evident that in spite of us watering and doing everything that was necessary, some of the sod wasn't taking properly. I called Raoul a few times before I got a call back. He thought it might be dogs peeing on the lawn. Um, no. It was in the backyard as well, and we don't own a dog. He then said he's working in the area and he'll come by so we can discuss. He never came by and he never called. Over a week later, I called again seeing if I could get some sort of response. I left a message. Over another week later, after we had practically given up, we came home and new sod had been put it. I guess better late than never, but there was no notice and the timing couldn't have been worse. We were leaving the next morning for a 10-day vacation - and couldn't exactly get neighbors to come by and water every day for an hour. So you can imagine what we came home to - dead grass. Unfortunately, all the good work that they did - and they did do some - was completely overwhelmed by poor communication and a complete lack of responsiveness. We've looked elsewhere to get things rectified.

Mr. Almanza came to my home at the time promised. We briefly went over what I wanted done including my neighbor's interjection. He was very polite and make very good recommendations. Since I also needed him to trim the tree, he promised to come back and complete the work early the next week. He did in fact come back and performed everything we had discussed. Even though I think the price for trimming the bush was a bit too expensive, I am very pleased with the work and the service I received.

They were GREAT!! Our yard has never looked so good; they were fast, prompt, professional, and did all work as agreed upon in the estimate. I will DEFINITELY hire them again and have already passed the referral on to others.

Three workers showed up on the scheduled date and cut down the bushes and removed them from my yard to their shredder. Then one worker used a grinder to destroy the roots. Afterward they made sure everything was cleaned up. After they had left I noticed one thick root sticking up. I just pulled it up and cut it off, no biggie. I have seen hired them to cut and edge my corner lot for $35 a week. Adding new plants will be next on my list in the near future. So far so good.

They have been very accessible on the phone. The service they provide is good, better than expected. They are pretty responsive and generally show up on time and show up when they say they are going to.

They showed up very prompt and courteous. When they came to do the job, they could not finish because of the rain, so they returned on a Sunday to finish the work. Overall the experience was great. I highly recommend this company.

We pay them monthly for the lawn service and the spring cleanup is about $150-200. We started using them this spring. They do a good job. They come when they say they will and occasionally will fertilize. I am satisfied.

He was very professional about the job. He had returned my calls right away. I had called them and said some of the grass was dry and he came out the next day to fix the problem.

Raul was initially good about returning calls promptly. English was a little limited which made asking for and receiving recommendations a little more difficult, but not impossible. They did the work in two different trips. The spring clean-up went very well. They were on time and did a very good job. I thought the price was fair. When I called back for some additional work, I had to call twice before getting a call-back. In addition, they did not show up on the scheduled second appointment day, nor did Raul call. When I called him, he did return my call and apologized for missing the appointment (I know these things happen, but not calling was the bigger problem). The work done on the second trip was fine as well, and I think the price was reasonable. I called them back to ask about some additional work I had wanted done and had asked about (but had not yet authorized), but I never received a call back on that work. I signed a contract for ongoing fertilization, but have not been contacted about when they will come out. In summary, their work is good, but their communication is not top notch.

We live on a sloped street so drainage in the yard has been a problem. He recommended leveling out the yard somewhat and erecting a short flagstone retaining wall around one garden bed and creating a couple of new beds around the addition. He also suggested creating a nice bricked retaining wall for a side bed next to the cracked concrete and offered to grind out an old and very large tree stump. I asked him to replace the cracked concrete with permeable pavers, which he was not familiar with, but after I gave him a picture of what I wanted he was able to get exactly the pavers I wanted and installed them perfectly. NO more drainage problems! He reseeded the yard, added the mixture of top soil and compost in the portions I requested and did a great job. The whole project took two days. The only problem is that it can take a few days for Raul to return calls.

First the positives: Raul is very friendly and for special jobs and clean up they do a good job. They do good mowing and edging. Their prices are very competitive. Now the negatives: Communication is poor. When you call it always goes to the answering machine and sometimes there is a call back but often no response. Part of the communication problem is between Raul and the crew. For example, they had reworked the back yard to increase drainage but the regular crew was never told about that and slowly reversed the changes during normal upkeep. They regularly run over the gutter drain pipes with the mower and will mow when the ground is soaked leaving tracks. The weekly garden clean up is spotty and in the spring clean up they often remove perennials. I've finally decided to find another service.

Raul returned my call, came to see the job, and then came back that afternoon to do it. It took only about 15 minutes because he had a large crew with him. There wasn't much to it but they were very affordable and didn't try to "up sell" me into anything more. This was a no frills yard work job, not a fancy landscaping project, and I would use this company for that type of job again.

He was courteous and kind. He is very responsive. He is professional. I will use him in the future. The quality of his work is good. He is very personable.

The work was an "A", but there was a miscommunication with the service agreement.

Raul was responsive in providing a quote and was able to do the work on a weekend within a week of when I accepted the quote. He and 2 other workers had the job finished within 3 hours. They cut out and removed the old grass, power tilled the soil, graded it, put down fertilizer, laid the sod and rolled it. The sod seems to be of high quality. The edges where the sod meets the sidewalk is not perfect, but I can take of that. I was concerned that the sod might be too high, but Raul assured me that it will sink down over time. We will see. Overall very professional and other neighbors have either hired him or asked about his services.

I didn't receive a fax, I didn't receive an estimate in the mail and Raul did not return 3 messages I left on his phone asking what was going on. I am surprised and disappointed by Raul's unprofessional behavior after such good write-ups on Angie's list.

I called Mr. Almanza to set up an appointment to level my yard, install drains, build a small retaining wall and resod. Mr. Almanza came out at the appointed time, during which time I described what was needed. He told me that he could not give me a price estimate until he knew which stones I wanted for the retaining wall and that he would drop off a book with prices. He never showed and I never heard back from him again.

He was patient enough to let me look around for a few days and then purchased and installed the ones I wanted. Raul's crew did the work very quickly (roughly 2 days) and left the work area clean. I'm very happy with the quality of the work and have gotten many compliments on the new walkway. I will definitely use him again for other landscaping needs.

Fantastic. Raul came right on time for an estimate and was able to schedule the work three days later, on a Saturday. On the day scheduled to do the work, Raul and his team showed up right on time and checked with us throughout the process to make sure we were happy. Everyone was very polite and very neat. I would definitely use them again.
