Perrin Gas

I have a vented gas log fireplace which was newly installed by another provider. On the second day we noticed a gas smell when the fireplace was off and were concerned about a leak. I turned the gas off at the valve and called the original service provider who was unable to identify the source of the leak. I then called Perrin Gas based on the good reviews. Eric came out the next business day right on time, confirming our appointment via text messaging. I thought he was extremely knowledgeable about my fireplace and gas log systems in general. He was able to pinpoint the site of leaking gas where the other provider was not. He also spotted damage to a component (the thermocoupler) which he replaced with a part he had on his truck. Eric repaired and reinstalled the whole setup and checked everything for leaks when he was done (I wish my original installer had done that!) At the end of the process, I was relieved and very satisfied. I also appreciated his explanation of the problems and how the system works overall. His price was very reasonable in my opinion. Highly recommended.

Peoples Gas had done work on the underground pipe on my street and turned off all the gas. It was necessary to have People Gas' representatives inspect all the gas connections in my home before they would turn the meter back on. The hose connection to my stove did not pass inspection because there was no shut-off (it was behind the fireplace), and because of the type of used. I would have been without gas in my home due to supplies used by the developer when he rehabbed the building. Mr. Perrin indicated that this particular kind of workmanship, kept him quite busy as he was quickly able to remove the offending pipe and replace it with materials that would pass Peoples Gas' inspection.

Called Perrin Gas late Friday afternoon after I discovered that I needed a gas professional to move/cap gas line for a gas stove in that I had replaced in the kitchen of my new home. Eric returned my call immediately to schedule my service call (WHILE HE WAS ON VACATION IN MICHIGAN) for a weekend repair (said he would come Sat or Sun, no additional charge). Very personable, professional, and efficient. He mentioned that he works for the gas company (Nicor Gas) during the day, and has his own business on the side for after-hours (weekday nights & weekends). Seems like his specialty is gas line repair, and gas fireplace install (has good deals/inside pricing on gas log fireplace inserts). Did a great job at a resonable price. Definitely reccommend and will use again.

My Gas Light was repaired in one visit. He even returned to check it out and make adjustments so that it would light more efficiently.

The existing pipe was too small to feed a new gas log set. I figured Eric would follow the path of the existing pipe, which was adequately anchored overhead. Instead, he took a shortcut which left a good chuck of pipe "floating" right near my water heater. It's a completely amateur job and an utter disappointment.

I needed to convert my wood burning fireplace to gas. I found Perrin on Angie's List and gave Eric a call. He offered to come out whenver was convenient for me. I had to have a new chimney cap put on so I scheduled for a couple of weeks later. Eric quoted me a price on the phone site unseen after I described the situation to him. He showed up and ran the gas line to the fireplace, installed a pilot and the logs. All for the price that he quoted me on the phone. He showed up on time, was very polite, answered all of our questions and completed the work in about two hours. They showed us how to operate the new fireplace and told us to call him if we had any questions/problems. They were very neat and did not make any mess. I would highly recommend them as they were several hundred dollars cheaper than a highly reviewed fireplace company.

They never showed up or called back.

I called Eric on Saturday morning and left a message explaining that I smelled gas in the kitchen. He called me back and stated that he would be able to meet me later the same day. Eric showed up at the time he said he would, and identified the leak within minutes. He ended up replacing the shut off valve behind the stove. The price was fair and I was more than impressed by how prompt he replied to me and was able to fix the leak (same day!). Eric will be the first person I call if I ever need such help again, and I would definitely recommend him to others.

We smelled a funny smell in our laundry room and suspected a gas leak. I called Perrin Gas in the afternoon and Mr. Perrin showed up that evening at 6:30 pm. Mr. Perrin went through our basement with his detector and scoured every inch of pipe. When the source of the leak was found Mr. Perrin showed it to us with a soapy solution bubbling on the leaky joint. Mr. Perrin proposed to repair it by cutting the old pipe and installing new pipe because the leaking joint was in a hard to reach location. The work took less than 2 hours from start of visit to finish. Mr. Perrin was confident, competent, and friendly. We no longer have a bad smell (or gas leak) in our laundry room. I would highly recommend Perrin Gas.

I purchased a new washer/dryer from Sears. When they came out to install the dryer they refused to install it because the gas line was free standing. I called Eric and explained the problem he was able to come out the same day and reroute the gas line. He bolted the line to the wall and rerouted it so it would comply with Sear's requirements. He was quick, friendly, fair-priced and efficient. I wish all service calls were as helpful as he was.

Service the same day I called, can't ask for more!

My wife had originally contacted Eric about fixing a gas leak our home inspector found in the house we had put an offer in for. Three months later we called Eric up and he was able to schedule us in the next couple days. While he ran a little late, he called beforehand so I knew he was coming and he was super quick and professional once he arrived. Will definitely call Eric for future gas service needs!

I had just purchased a new natural gas grill that I wanted to connect to a pre-existing gas line that ran to my deck. I called Eric in the afternoon and he told me that he would be able to come out that evening to connect my grill! When he arrived, he pointed out that my gas line didn't have a shut off valve and suggested that I might want to install one (which I thought was a great plan). He had one with him and was able to perform the repair on the spot. He also checked the grill to make sure it had been assembled properly, and did a safety check on the connection after connecting the grill. The grill works great and all in all, I was really pleased with the service and would definitely use him again.

Everything went smoothly. We are going to call back for gas logs for fireplace at a later date.

Perrin did a great job. They were quick to respond and were out within a day to do the work. They corrected the gas grill issues, and cleaned the grill making it look sparkling new. I'll have them come out annually to get our grill serviced for the summer!

I had purchased a new stove for a townhome I purchased from a big name retailer. That company delivered the new stove but immediately walked out after telling me I had no gas shut off valve behind my stove. I called Eric becuase of his rating and reviews on Angie's List. He was able to come relatively quickly even though I had to reschedule a couple times. He found that my existing gas shut off valve behind the stove was there, but it was closed up by some drywall. He opened the wall, replaced that very outdated gas shut off valve with one that I could actually turn off myself (the other one required a wrench). He also installed the new stove that the previous company just left in the middle of my dining room. I have hard wood floors and he was very careful not to damage them, and he also cleaned up after his work. I also asked him since he was there if he could look at my clothes dryer since I thought I smelled gas near it. He inspected it and did find a very small leak, which he repaired in the hose. i would definitely recommend him and use him again in the future.

We had an issue with the gas line to our hot water heater. They came out and took a look at it. They found the problem and fixed it promptly.

He was very knowlegeable about this- used to work for Nicor.

We called Perrin Gas, scheduled the appointment, he arrived on time, fixed the gas leak and then also checked our hot water heater and dryer to make sure those were not leaking either (we were new home owners and since the stove was a problem we asked if he could check the others). The price was great. He completed the work quickly, was very professional and I would use him again.

It went well. They were in and out before I had a chance to meet anyone as my husband was home at the time.

He arrived as scheduled on a weeknight and cleaned the bbq. It looked brand new when he was finished. He also converted the bbq from natural gas to propane. I would use him again and would absolutely recommend him to others. I only wish that I had known about him when I had to have my gas fireplace fixed- I'm sure it would have been a much better experience if Eric had been there.
