Budget Movers brokered us out to Moving Central. When the truck came to pick up our stuff there were no markings to tell us who they were. Budget Movers said they would pick up stuff and I would get it in 2-3 days. When Moving Central showed up, they loaded our stuff in the truck and said the weight was a lot more than what it was supposed to be. They said it was doubled in weight which was double the price. I waited 14 days in my new location for my items. I called Budget Moving (who set us up Moving Central) to find out where my things were and they were very rude and would not help me. Moving Central stole a leather love seat and broke a lot of my glass items that were clearly labeled FRAGILE. They would not open the door to the truck until I paid them in cash. Come to find out they lied about the weight of my items, when this was brought to their attention the man said to me, “you win” as he gave me part of my money back.

Not well. While the non English speaking or very challenged crew showed up on time but what was supposed to take one day, took almost 3 including the crew being at our home from 8:00 am until almost 2:00am the next morning then all the next day. Now the company will tell you, if you call and say that you read a bad review, that you shouldn't believe those because some people put bad reviews on and then pirate the company into paying for them to be taken off. Believe me, this is not the case here as we read a bad review, called and were told that so went ahead with our move. BIG MISTAKE. The crew on the outbound was polite, to a degree, and worked very hard amidst the company miscalculating the size of our load and having to wait to bring in another truck, empty it, and load the rest of our stuff on, BIG MISTAKE, to go and sit in their warehouse in Chicago to get misplaced. Many items have not nor never well arrive. The crew that delivered our load, two days early causing me to take a flight at of Tulsa, OK, on our way to Phoenix, was very rude, once again had very limited skills in the English language and couldn't take the time to set up furniture only stack it in a pile in the living room for us to set up. They said they were late getting to another load and needed to go... This was still ahead of the scheduled arrival time. Upon calling the company to ask for the forms to report damage, it's been three calls and we still have not received them in order to report damages, breakage and missing boxes. So.... Is it worth the hassle to go after them, no. But it is worth the effort to warn others not to use this company, yes. Only use with great caution. Be forewarned. The work was performed in Ohio as the loading point and Chandler, AZ as the unloading point.

When I arrived at my final destination, I called and gave them my move-in date as October 1st (I called when at final destination as instructed). I made this call on Sept 27th and the answer I got was, "It's not going to happen - you should have called every day." I originally signed a contract that said they would keep my items up to "15 'business days” free of charge. The date I gave them meant that they would have stored the items for 6 days. The contract I signed that the driver gave me on moving day stated "15 days", not “business days’”!! That is the legal contract - the last one I signed. Most reputable companies put some kind of “buffer” in their contracts allowing for “unforeseen” circumstances, it is a standard customer service principle acknowledging that unfortunately house purchases get held up in escrow from time to time which pushes “firm dates” back. However, THIS COMPANY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. The clause in their contract is for their convenience, not the customer’s. They held my items in IL until the last possible moment. To call the office to try to speak with someone that knows anything is just one more nightmare. The receptionist, MONIQUE, screens the calls. When I did call every day – she let my calls go into her voicemail. When I asked to speak to Sam, my sales rep, she said that he was just a salesman; I took that to mean he had washed his hands of me and now my issues would have to be dealt with by the very people who were ignoring me! Another time I asked about still another delay and the answer I got was, “it was raining in IL and they couldn't travel in the rain” ( their enclosed truck couldn’t travel in the rain)… Really? . . . Are the drivers that inexperienced to not be able to drive in the rain? Finally, when I caught on to the call screening I waited until after hours and left a voice mail on everybody's voicemail that is in their directory AND three days later I had my items. Some items were broken and most items were disorganized and scattered. I finally got my things on October 26th, 26 days after my October 1st original move in date!! The driver hired three guys from another moving company to move my items into my apartment while he sat in the truck the whole time. The guys here at my final destination were great. The Illinois guys lost two wheels from my bed frame when they moved my items out of my condo, the driver told the guys here to leave my bed lopsided! I didn’t see it until they left the house. I had very carefully packed my own computer so all the parts were together and I would be able to just hook it up. They had unpacked it and the parts were scattered all over in unmarked boxes. I finally got it together three weeks later. They repacked my printers – I have two of them that I had packed in separate boxes. They put both printers in one box lying on their backs. One of f the printers is cracked and ink leaked all over the box. I didn’t see it until I had put it right side up on a table, that is now ruined and has to be sanded and refinished because ink leaked all over the top of it; the printer is broke and useless. There's more but I think that I have given an accurate enough review to warn other future customers of the nightmare from dealing with Moving Central. In short … DON'T USE MOVING CENTRAL!! They know nothing about customer service; they are totally unprofessional and just plain rude!! I seriously question their residential home moving knowledge to begin with. They really are completely inexperienced in all areas of their business. RATING IS” F” – ZERO stars!!
Description of Work: This review is being placed on Angie's List on behalf of my mother, this is her experience with Moving Central when she moved to Nevada... Don't believe anything that Ben G and Sam D have to say. They come on real strong and professional and then disappear and pass off their dirty work to even less competent workers. I didn't get the triple quote until the day they put my items on the truck and that was just the beginning of the nightmare. I had to be out of my condo that day and couldn’t dispute anything at that point. The dispute is that my quoted fee went from $2,200 to $6,400. The sales rep said that they would wrap my cloths so I didn’t need any wardrobe boxes. Well, the driver said no – they had to use boxes, besides arriving 3 hours earlier than stated, he said that they don’t wrap cloths - they had to go into wardrobe boxes. He unpacked things that I had already packed and repacked them. Throwing stuff into wardrobe boxes - including lampshades that broke. They also neglected to mark any of the boxes, even as to which room they went into, when they arrived at my new home, the guys didn't know where to put boxes.

over all it went horrible. the driver had called me on oct 30 and said he would be delivering it on monday, monday, tues, wed, thurs came and went with not return phone calls until thursday evening when he said he would be here on friday morning which he was. the driver and a helper unloaded the truck, the driver checked off the entire list without looking to make sure all was here and in the confusion i did not either i guess. i dicovered later, my file papers from 3 file cabinets was missing, my extra medicine, collecions of precious moments and cherished teddies. also pictures, only one from my deceased husband in 1973 and also other pictures including my late 2nd husband, important papers from my parents, lots of my sons coca cola collection, jewelry, a picture very expensive. they cannot seem to find them and when i call they never respond. finally today, dec 8th, i had sent another e mail and a different lady talked to me and asked if i had notified claim, yes and i call them and they answer all lines are busy now, leave your name and phone, never call back. am really upset with the whole thing as i really think with it marked as important file papers like the mover told me to do, and all that it was an inside job and not sure who to call about tax papers that have my social security numbers on so no one can do identiy theft and they just said its to bad. the insurance mike(the one we talked to) said there is $100,000 insurance on my things but how do you replace all those papers, already had to do a deed copy, car title copy, dog papers from the vet in wisconsin. really and truly think they could do more or inside job(theft).
Description of Work: They moved me from kenosha to indiantown, fl. They moved my things they had put my things in storage in chicago for a few days and then loaded it and moved it here.

Response from Moving Central
It seems there is a bit of confusion. We are still in the process of locating the items reported missing. Unfortunately, this can be a timely process as there must be a warehouse sweep performed to determine that it is not onsite. Once the sweep is completed, and it is determined that all items had in fact been loaded on to the delivery truck, we begin to contact each individual customer to request their assistance in the search. Because this step relies heavily on our other clients it can be a slow progression, but rest assured your items have not been forgotten. We keep record of any missing (and found) items for over a year and work very hard to locate any items reported missing, as well as to locate the owners of found items. I know this is a frustrating situation for you and I would like to forward my most sincere apologies for my staff leaving you with a feeling of neglect. I assure you their performance does not reflect the goals of our company. We will continue to search diligently for your missing items. If you remember any additional information, such as other identifying marks on the boxes, please let us know right away as the more information we have, the better our chances are at locating and identifying the items to be yours. At this time I will encourage you to continue with the claims process as directed as well. The reason it is suggested you begin your claim for missing or damaged items is because the process is a lengthy one in itself; taking up to 120 day from start to finish. Because you are only able to submit one claim per move it would be suggested to include any and all missing items as they cannot be added on at a later date. They can, however, be removed from the claim in the case your claim is still open when the items are located. I hope for the best outcome possible regarding this matter. We will be in touch once we have more information available. Please feel free to contact us at anytime if you have additional information or questions. Please don’t be discouraged as we are doing our very best to find and return your items. Jillian M. CSM 224.534.8084 x 407

I had an excellent moving experience with Moving Central. Was quite concerned actually, after reading horror stories related to many of their competitors on Angies List and BBB. I found their price quote were clear, complete and fair. Actual cost was exactly what was quoted! No add ons, changes or move day renegotiations. All happened just as promised. Fit me in for pickup on busy last day of the month. Every item of furniture was carefully wrapped in blankets and taped, and handled with care by Miguel and his team in Chicago. Pedro and team handled everything with care and reassembled everything making two stops in the Minneapolis area. I could not be more pleased to have these items that had been in my dad's home for years now in my children's homes in excellent condition. Great work. Done exactly as promised.
Description of Work: Moved 12 pieces of furniture from my fathers home in Chicago area on 4/30 to my son's home and to my daughters home in the Minneapolis area on 5/3. Heavy furniture, like piano and bedroom set .
