I would like to update my original rating of this company. My original rating of this company was based on the fact that I did not carefully read the fine print in the coupon. They pointed this out to me, and it turns out they performed the work exactly as stated in the coupon for the price stated in the coupon, and the extra work that I had initially complained about them charging me extra for (the adding of baseboards, etc.), was not in the coupon. Overall they did excellent work, as he states below, and I would recommend them to anyone, and I would hire them again myself. I apologise to Mike for the error in publicity.

It's rare nowadays that you can honestly say that you got your more than your money's worth, but we got way more than our money's worth. Mike's was one of four estimates we obtained to install a hardwood floor and stairs on our second floor. The bids came in at two that were unbelievably expensive, one that was very expensive, and Mike's, which was $6750. At first I couldn't believe the price he quoted. I asked about every detail. Would they remove the carpet? The wood quality would be top grade? Did the estimate include trim, clean-up, etc, etc, etc. Mike patiently and happily affirmed that his bid covered everything. And it did. His crew showed up exactly on time on Tuesday and worked steadily all day, every day, for the next four days. They never went home before 6:30, and were here until 9:00 pm on Friday. They carefully isolated their work space from the rest of the house, to minimize fumes and dust. Mike offered suggestions on how he thought the floors should be. (His suggestions to paint the risers on the stairs white turned out beautifully.) The end product was far beyond my expectations. We have a stunning new floor and stairs in our house. The one drawback is that it makes our walls look dingy (which they are), so we guess we'll have to repaint now. Such is the price of excellence. We have to be honest, We were was a little incredulous at the price Mike quoted, sure we were overlooking something. No one could do what Mike promised at the price he promised. We were 100% wrong. In the end, we trusted Mike (smart move) and the reviewers on Angie's List. Mike honored every promise he made. And the Angie's List reviewers were right in every detail. Mike couldn't be nicer, his crew couldn't be more professional, and the floors they installed couldn't look better.

Mike came out and gave us a detailed analysis of what we could and could not do (we wanted to install half-hardwood in a split-level basement). His team then came out and did a great job in the time they said they would. My floors look amazing!!! During the installation two problems occurred. First, they hit a pipe under the floors by drilling too deep. No problem, Mike came out and inspected the problem and had a plumber fix the problem. When I asked if he could give me a guarantee in writing (if there are any future problems as a result they will come out and fix), he did so. A couple of days after his team left we realized they covered an access pipe in the basement (which was in the area we told them to cover, we never mentioned me should leave it open). Once again, they came out within a day and cut open an access panel to the pipe; you can hardly tell its there. These guys were friendly, prompt, and technically gifted. They also accepted responsibility and fixed issues when they arose (something no one does anymore). I would strongly recommend them to everyone I know for either installation or refinishing of any floor.

The job took close to 7 hours - they worked non-stop except for drying time between applications. They graciously answered all my questions about drying time, floor maintenance, etc. I feared my entire house would be coated with sanding dust - not so. Their equipment certainly did a great job. They even bagged and took all the trash with them. Most importantly, my floors are beautiful.

I'm glad I had it completed. Mike was very accommodating and willing to help me.

i own a historic two flat that has settled over the years resulting in a significant leveling issue on the second floor. Before I called Mike, I received quotes of 15k, 12k, and 9k to level the floor and install new hardwoods. Then I called Mike. Mike came to take a look within a couple hours and then within minutes he had a plan to level the floor. His quote of 7k was right where I wanted to be. Mike started the next day and was done, as predicted, in a week. The floors are level and look great. But I was most impressed with the professionalism that Mike displayed throughout the process. Mike always answered his phone, and I called a lot - on weekends, at night, early in the morning. He answered all my questions honestly and respectfully. And most importantly, Mike provided the type of service that goes above and beyond industry standards. Mike does what it takes to make the customer happy. For example, Mike took a look at some of my baseboards in three bedrooms and said they should be replaced. And he replaced them without an additional charge. Upon my suggestion, Mike insulated the floors and did so at no additional charge. Mike is committed to make the customer happy, and will go way above and beyond to ensure it. Of course Mike couldn't do it alone, his assistants Ruben, Carlos, and Nunzio were professional as well and worked very hard to do the job the right way.THANK YOU MIKE.

From day one, MIke and his team were very professional. They did a great job of isolating the kitchen area, which was very difficult in our house given the open flow to the family room. Our floor was in awful shape, to the point that some of the original slats had to be replaced due to gouges that went deep (I still had the spares from the original installation). Mike, however, was able to salvage more slats than I thought possible. The sanding was completed in one day and Mike came back the next four days to continue to apply a fresh coat of polyurethane. He left no mess, even lugging his trash with him so as not to leave it until trash day.

A very good experience, the floors were done in a few days, the installers were very knowlegable of their trade. I would highly recommend this company!

They were prompt, thorough, they performed the work on time and there was some extra work I needed them to do and he didn't charge me as he said no I gave you a bid and that is what I will charge you. I am very happy with them and will use them again. They are great and I am extremely pleased.

I scheduled the work on short notice right before I was leaving for vacation and they did the work while I was on vacation and they worked quickly and efficiently and did a great job. They finished the job in a week. The quality of the bamboo flooring is excellent. It looks beautiful and really adds to the aesthetics of my condo.

He was clear with his estimates and responded quickly. We had 2 other estimates, and they were pretty haphazard in what they could and could not do. Mike was very responsive and followed through. We were very pleased with him. I think people would not be disappointed in going with him. He used coating that was environmentally friendly, so it was not harmful to breathe. It worked out just great.

Mike, the owner, came to my house in Oswego and personally gave me an estimate to refinish the hardwood floors in my kitchen and foyer/front-hall. Our original floors had a glossy finish and my wife and I wanted to take out the shininess. Even though my floors are engineered wood and only had a thin layer of finish, Mike said they could sand the old finish out by hand and put on a matte (non-glossy) finish. I had bought the Angie's Deal coupon, which included 400sf of hardwood floor refinishing for $545. But since the sanding of the floors and trim between the wood and carpet had to be done by hand, the estimate was a little more than the coupon. Mike sent two of his floor guys to do the work on a Saturday morning. My family and I left the house for the day so Mike's guys could do the work and the finish could dry uninterupted. Upon inspection of the floors the next day, Mike's crew did an excellent job! They took out the glossy finish and put in a matte finish that doesn't show every footprint like the old finish did, just like my wife and I wanted. They were also very clean, as the carpet between the kitchen and the foyer was unblemished. There were a few small spots on the hardwood floors that still needed touch-ups, so I called Mike and he had Marcel, one of the original crew guys, come out a different day and finish it up. It took Marcel a couple of hours to finish the touch-ups, but he did an excellent job as he blended it back in with the new finish. I can't even tell where the touch-ups were done! My wife and I are very happy with the work of Mike's Hardwood Flooring and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to have their floors re-done.

The rooms all look fantastic -- better than I expected from what I had. The work Mike's team performed was exemplary -- everything was finished professionally and looks wonderful. In addition, the service was top-notch. Mike's team arrived on time each day and didn't leave until that day's work was done. On the first day of sanding, one of the machines broke down. There was a delay while they got the part they needed to continue, and then they stayed late to ensure they stayed on schedule with the job. Our entire house was done in two sections so we could live in one section while they finished the other. Mike's team took care with moving the furniture, and stayed on schedule every day so we always knew where we were sleeping that night. Then after the job was complete, there was one piece of furniture that we couldn't replace ourselves. Mike and his colleague came back three days later to move that last piece in. Mike is a true craftsman, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for hardwood care.

We purchased an old home that needed hardwood floors refinished and repaired. I called Mike's Hardwood Floors. They came the next day, gave me an estimate, and scheduled the job. Fast and efficient! We used the Angies deal and Mike did the most thorough job. Mike was very knowledgeable and wanted to make sure the job was done properly. Around the floor of my fireplace the wood was a quarter round that looked terrible. Mike's guys replaced it with proper molding and stained that also. They removed the toe kick because it did not sit on the floor and looked sloppy. They stained my floors a coffee color and they look fantastic! I would highly recommend Mike's Hardwood Flooring and will use them again when we finish our addition to install hardwood flooring too.

Phoned Mike and he called back right away. Came out, gave estimate and informed how he could fix part of the stairs that squeaked. He was very thorough and appeared knowledgeable about his craft. I got a few other estimates that were more money and the men, while polite, did not seem to have the same knowledge Mike had. Scheduled the work to be done and Mike along with his crew of two men showed up on time and told me what they would do. Everything went extremely well. It was suppose to be a two day job but the crew stayed late and finished the work. The crew worked hard and hardly took a rest. They were on task the entire time. Our stairs look absolutely beautiful. I would HIGHLY recommend them and will use again if we need more refinishing work done.

Everything was done in the timeline agreed upon. We weren't in residence at the time the job was performed. We gave Mike's Hardwood Flooring access to the house to be able to perform the project. In the end, it was completed on the day I expected and when I went in to check everything was clean and ready for use. I understand the original floor beneath the carpeting was a bit of a mess and that some of the original stairs leading to the 2nd level were poorly done. So they had a bit of work to do to be able install the new hardwood and rebuilt a portion of the staircase. Not included in the estimate was painting the risers and trimwork on the stairway. This was done by them on their own and it added to the estheticity of the project One minor mishap occurred. My understanding is that the former owner had laid tile over some of the existing floor in the entryway. In removing that floor one of the tiles was inadvertently cracked. I saw this during a random checkin and when I asked about it I learned that Mike was already out looking for a replacement tile. He did find a match and it was cut to size and installed for me by completion. On top of that they went a step further and sealed some cracks and areas where filler was missing by the front door in this tiled entryway. I'm thrilled with the finished result and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company. I think Mike takes pride in ownership of his work and a job well done. He surpassed my expectations and I would recommend him to anyone as well as use him on future projects.

After 13 years, multiple children, dogs and adults they were in terrible shape. We originally planned to only have the family room, living room, dining room and hall done. When Mike came to give an estimate, he suggested that we consider having the steps done to give the house a more uniformed appearance. He answered all of our questions and remained in contact throughout the process. His crew was in the house for three days. Everyone was professional in every way possible. We ended up with beautiful floors. Oh and did I mention they fixed a closet door!!!! The only problem......now I want our bedroom done!!!!!!

The job was perfect, the hardwood looks better then new, it was in bad shape before and I did not have high hopes for it. I was shocked by how great it turned out. The kitchen floor was also perfect. They really pay attention to details. I would highly recommend Mike,s Hardwood Flooring.

Mike and his team, Mariano, Phillipo are the best. Mike met me on Thurs. to give an estimate: He was very thorough and knowledgable. I researched 20+ companies from Angie's list and narrowed down to 4 to get estimates. Mike's quote not only came in the lowest, but with equal or better quality. He uses top quality materials and where others would have cut corners and use lower quality materials, he did not. He was also very thorough, noticed issues we have in kitchen and offered good solutions to install hardwood there with good quality work without having to remove or cut cabinets. By Friday morning, he took care of all the very strict requirements by the condo association, sent in all his paperwork and got approval for the work. First thing on Monday, his crew showed up and by Tuesday, our beautiful floor is in!I spent countless hours researching on Angie's List, calling in/emailing different companies to inquire their services and compare the cost, quality, scope of the work and found Mike to be the best. I would definitely use him again and would recommend him to all my friends and family. They did a very nice job.

Mike was on time for his estimate. He explained to us how the job he was going to be done. He was finished on time with everything done plus he did extra things needed without charging a penny. We are very happy!

The quality of their work was good. They were nice and punctual.

It went great. I have referred Mike several times, all have the same result. Superb!

The workmanship on both of these projects was excellent. The work was peformed exactly according to the committed time frame and we were charged the quoted amount.The timing was critical as we were out of town when the work was performed. This was necessary due to the refinishing of the first floor. We have hardwood on the entire first floor and we would not have access to any of our home during this work. We returned to find everything done as expected.Mike went out of his way to do little extra things to make the project go smooth. He assisted with moving some of the larger furniture back down to the first floor after it had dried, and had his painter paint all of our floor molding on the first floor even though he only needed to paint the risers on the stairs. He did all of this without extra charge. We expect from a contractor quality work, timely completion at the quoted price. Mike exceeded these expectations.

Mike (the owner) came out to estimate the job on a Monday and his crew was there 8:00am Tuesday morning to begin the job. The red oak floor had not been sanded and refinished for over 35 years and needed some replacement boards. His guys replaced the boards, puttyed and patched nail/staple holes, sanded both rough and fine, applied a base sealer and top coat polyurethane. It is beautiful ! Now I have to upgrade all the wall/ceiling/window finishes, just to match the beautiful floor! Mike, thanks for a great experience and outcome !

I liked the fact they they also have a store, where you can actually walk in and talk to somebody, you don't really find that with small trades, but here I was felling that if I have a problem I can go there and talk face to face. Also when I need any advice or if I decide to buy a special floor, I can go in and see it before buying it. It's nice to know that you can get in touch with somebody just in cse they decide not to answer their phone ;).
