We were thrilled with the work they did refinishing our 80-year-old floors. They look just beatiful! The team also took great pains to keep dust to a minimum, selaing off other rooms and air vents, etc. They came when they said they would and actually finished a head of schedule. When a problem with the power came up, Mike was very resourceful in getting it fixed. Would highly recommend.

After Mike and his team completed their work, we discovered that they hadn't stained to the corners on the stairs and had broken multiple air vents and boards throughout the house. When we attempted to contact Mike, he was extremely difficult and yelled at us over the phone. After attempting to get Mike to repaid his team's poor work, we were given a quote to redo the entire floor and told that they would not be correcting their mistakes unless we paid for it.

Mike’s crew was professional and arrived on time. The crew came in and sized up the job and went to work. The work was done well. We are very pleased with the outcome. We were pleased with the cost as well. We highly recommend Mike’s hardwood flooring.

Andrei and his crew were amazing. Andrei was responsive and patient. He explained the process and potential issues that could arise. I was so appreciative with his transparency. His crew, led by Carlos, was top notch. They kept everything so clean (which is no small feat). And of course, my floors are gorgeous!

An outstanding team! Always arrive promptly, ask questions & pay attention to reply. Attention to detail, with outstanding repair of riser in 100 + y/o oak stairs by placing quarter round oak wherever risers meet tread. Excellent transition from new oak floor to master bathroom with tile floor. Assistance with replacement of furniture after job was completed, so that flooring was pristine after this was done. To say that I am pleased isn't adequate to describe how happy I am with the result. This is a first rate business, with employees who know exactly how to take care of flooring.

I reached out to Mike after two really bad experiences just trying to line up other providers to come give me an estimate (one didn't show up, and one never followed up). He responded in minutes, and we setup some time for him to come look at the floors in my house. The floors were pretty beat up and dated, and looking even worse after I dealt with several pipes bursting during the polar vortex. He measured, talked me through options, and quoted me a price right on the spot. It was right about where I thought it'd be, so I said yes, and we setup a date a few weeks later for the work to begin. Day of, they got there right on time. Mike introduced me to his guys, I walked them through everything they needed to know, gave them keys, left them waters and a few bucks for lunches, and then left. I had full confidence in both Mike and his team, and appreciated that they were so grateful that I left money for lunches and thought about them. They made sure questions were answered, that they understood details on the house, and that I could reach out at anytime for questions. Over the next 3 days, I stayed nearby and went home to check on progress and lock up at night. On day 2, Mike e-mailed and said they had one day left, and gave me some instructions. Day 3, they finished and I went by later at night to check it out. I was blown away by the change. They did a phenomenal job. While the whole project was a lot of prep on my end as well, it was absolutely worth it. Would recommend these guys without a doubt.

I own residential property in Chicago which is over 100 years old and once had beautiful hardwood floors throughout. However, by the late 2010s, the floors were sadly past their prime and those glory days were but a distant memory. Over a century of neglect, changing tastes, and numerous remodels, past owners took the easy way out by replacing missing sections of flooring with plywood, ignoring basic upkeep, and simply covering up the damage (aka their crimes) with wall-to-wall carpet. Blasphemy I say! This trend shall have no place in a city where Mike and his team from Mike's Hardwood Flooring heroically fight back restoring one hardwood floor at a time! Every week, they courageously repair the damage caused by the cheap landlords and cut-rate contractors from Chicago's dark past! Lol...in all seriousness, I've used Mike several times now to refinish my existing hardwood floors as well as repair hardwood flooring that was damaged decades ago and hidden by carpet. I'm anti-carpet / pro-hardwood floor :) Over the past few years, Mike has restored all of the hardwood flooring in my own home as well as in several of my rental units to their former glory! As for Mike himself...he's responsive, knowledgeable, forthright, kind, and down-to-earth. Despite my eagerness to restore as much of the original wood as possible, Mike will actually take the time to discuss options and do a cost-benefit analysis (including the extent/history of damage, type of wood, the science, and labor involved, etc.). Although much of my original flooring remains, it could not always be done economically. Mike doesn't try to upsell you and rightfully steered me towards a less expensive option (of new hardwood) for a better result two weeks before posting this review. Which I very much appreciated! And the same can be said of his team as well, including George and Francisco, who go to great lengths to ensure that the floor you want is the floor you get (i.e. making sure you know what you can and can't do during the first few days after they finish). Included below are several before and after pictures and the results speak for themselves! I was particularly impressed how Mike and his team were able to beautifully restore the original wood on a set of stairs that were covered in a layer of tar (no idea why) and carpeted over. Mike and his crew did a phenomenal job on our house laying down approx 2500sf of wide plank flooring. They also built custom treads and risers and used a specialty finish that i requested. Overall fantastic job and great to work with!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't tell you how happy we are with the work this company did. We live in a duplex down, and our first floor was formerly the basement. We had carpet over concrete. Mike came out and helped us decide the best material to put over the concrete (engineered hardwood). He even met us at the showroom to help us decide the best product. When the time came for installation, his team came out promptly at 8 and worked until 6 everyday. They were extremely professional and skilled, and our disgusting carpet has been transformed into beautiful hardwood floors. They even built two stairs for us and stained them to match the hardwood. We are thrilled with the end product and the wonderful work that this company has done. I would recommend them to anyone!!

The project went smoothly. I had a short window in which to work as the furniture on our 1st floor was removed for another project. I set up interviews with a number of companies, received estimates, and Mike's worked out the best. They were honest about how the project saying that some old stains on the floors might not sand out; the stairs treads and risers would need to be sanded by hand, therefore would cost a bit more; and the wood used to patch would not exactly match due to age. All of this I understood since the floors were over 100 years old. They had their staff on site early on the day they said they'd start. They worked as quickly as the weather would allow and the project was completed within the time they expected. Its been almost two years and the floors still look great. I waited a while to make this review in order to see if the work would hold up and it still looks nice. Now I'm hoping for another big project in which the furniture on our 2nd floor will be removed so they can do those floors.

Everything went quite well. They finished early, the old floors are beautiful, and they really didn't make too much of a mess. I was expecting lots of dust everywhere.
