We packed all of the small or breakable items and moved them to the basement. Mike's crew moved all of the furniture to the garage and covered with tarps that I provided. They then removed all the doors; taped and covered with plastic all cabinets and openings to the second floor; removed the old carpeting; and put filters over the heating vent returns. Yes, we did have to move out during the work. The old carpeting was cut into three foot sections, rolled up and taped, which allowed it to be picked up with my weekly garbage collection. Mike's crew really worked hard to complete the job. I was amazed how they were able to seamlessly join the new and old wood floors together. After they sanded the floors they applied three coats of polyurethane. You can's tell which was the old floor and which is the new. Mike's crew did a great job cleaning up after the sanding and after the work was completed. They moved all of the furniture back in. Don't misunderstand my comments, even though they did a great job cleaning up, you will still have some cleaning to do, but they did a great job to minimize it. I stopped in as time allowed to check on the work and see if anyone needed anything. Mike was always available by phone if I had any questions. For any hardwood flooring work, I would certainly use Mike's Hardwood Flooring again.

My floors look amazing! I have red oak original flooring from the mid 60's when the house was built. There were some areas that were so damaged/stained I wasn't sure if they could be refinished. Marcel and his crew did an amazing job, the floors looked brand new after sanding! Marcel also provided samples of 4 different stain colors that I selected so I could see what the colors would look like on my actual flooring. The finished result is absolutely beautiful! Mike, Marcel and the crew were all very professional and went above and beyond what I expected (even after reading all of the great reviews)! After my floors were finished I called Mike with questions on a Sunday, I didn't expect to hear from him till Monday. Mike called me back within 30 minutes and said if I had any additional questions to call him again. I will recommend Mike's Hardwood Flooring to anyone I know who is looking for Excellent Customer Service, a Professional crew, and an Exceptional Pricing!

It went as well as could be expected given the toilet problem and complications that come with an old home.

Mike showed up on time, introduced me to his workers, and let them at it. They worked diligently and for as long as I let them, stopping only because my neighbors limited their time in the evening. Mike estimated 4 days and that's what it took, even though the quality of the work under the original floors caused some issues. At the end of work, they cleaned up everything and hauled off all the rubbish. Mike stopped by before work was complete to inspect the work, and I'm happy with the floors. The floors no longer make any noise as I walk on them. Mike's quote was a bit higher than others I got from Angie's List, but he only had one number. Everyone else tried to add hidden fees for dumpsters and other things that would actually make their costs higher than Mike. When I redo the front part of my house, I'm going to call Mike again.

First and foremost, we are so pleased with the end result of our hardwood floors. They look so beautiful and it was all because of Mike and his skilled team. Mike is a no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is kind of guy who takes his business seriously. We asked him to quote on refinishing our first and second floor hardwood floors in our new home prior to our moving in. The condition of the first floor wood was in pretty bad shape and we knew it. He suggested just replacing it (especially since we are planning to add an addition, it would?ve been easier to match and we would be much happier with the end result). We ended up spending about 20% over our original budget to replace the floors, but for brand new floors, it was well worth every penny. Mike quoted us a price and stuck with it; he even offered to buff and add a coat of finish to our hardwood stairs at no extra cost; which we were just planning on ignoring. His team worked quickly on the floor install itself and poly coating. He even offered to come back and put on the 3rd coat of poly after our painters had been through, so that everything was nice, new and fresh. We had a few hiccups at the end of the project with tying up some loose ends; we needed them to come back and collect some remaining debris as well as cut some holes for HVAC venting. That took a couple extra days and a few extra phone calls, but eventually all work was completed. They even took away some extra drywall debris for us that they did not create. We would definitely recommend Mike?s Hardwood Flooring to anyone looking to beautify their wood floors.

It went very well. Mike came to the house, did an assessment, and established the cost. He also explained the work he was going to do and established the cost. We set a date which we had to postpone for personal reasons. A second date was set. The workers arrived on time, were very polite and did a great job. They returned three days later to move the furniture back upstairs. They were very careful with the furniture and did not scratch the floors, furniture, or walls. We are very happy with the job and have recommended Mike to others. Everyone who has seen the floors think they look great.

They arrived at approx. 8 am and were finished at 5 pm. They also installed cord around on the baseboards. (This was included in the price.)

The work in it's self was very well done. Both the gentleman that gave us the quote and the two gentlemen that performed the service were very attentive and very professional. However on the day that the work was to be done there was a communications error between the rep and the work force. Seems that they weren't sure of the color I was going with and they were unaware of the matching registers that were ordered. They did not charge me for the registers but, they stipulated that the would get back to me and never did. Also I felt the color used was a little darker then I was accustomed to and I wanted it to same as close to the same as possible. But the work was very well done.

They came in and did a fantastic job. They even helped me move a few pieces of heavy furniture out of the way.

I appreciated how flexible they were with scheduling since I had to reschedule twice. They were prompt and came early in the morning so that I could be at work on time. They covered everything up and cleared up remaining furniture/doors before starting. The floor looks amazing! They did our living room, dining room, hallway, closets, and kitchen. They were very really nice to work with and so professional. And I think we got an amazing rate for the high quality work they provided. I appreciate how responsive they were to my questions and they were easily accessible throughout the whole process. Our floors looked and felt really bad before Mike's service fixed it. We hired some other folks previously to sand and gloss our floor and they really made a horrible mess. With Mike's service it looks amazing. I would whole heartedly recommend them for any flooring work.

The whole time was very non stressful for me, because of all the time they spent giving me the information about the project. Milke came out ans showed me samples. Then i went to his showroom to look several times. Work started on time. Bathroom and then laminate. No problems whatsoever. All went smoothly.

Mike's was a pleasure to use from initial estimate through completion of the job. Friendly and professional, everything as promised, minimal mess, and our floors look fabulous!

We had purchased the 'deal' off of Angie's List and, while that didn't go as far as I would have hoped, they did an excellent job and the floor looks beautiful. They returned calls promptly, they were on time, and they were clean.

When Mike first came for the original walkthrough, I was surprised that he got so excited by what I considered my dingy, scuffed, and dark wood floor. Not only was it old, but it had been underwater for a period in 1989, the one and only time my basement flooded. It turns out that the floor is covered with rather thick parquet wood, which Mike could appreciate immediately. Unfortunately, a parquet floor takes more time and materials, and he also ended up refinishing the window ledges as well, so the job ended up costing closer to $1,500 than the original special price of $545. Of course, I was disappointed that it cost more, but it was definitely worth it. He and I both made sure to take "before" photos, and I took some during and after photos as well. Although I was able to clear out the room, the two workmen who came out helped me with the treadmill. They took one day to sand and put down the first coat of varnish, and they came back a second day to do the second coat. Later the next week, they came by to check on it, and helped bring my treadmill back in. I think they were afraid I would scratch my beautiful floor if I tried to move the treadmill myself!

I called Mike for an estimate a few months ago and he arrived the SAME DAY! His price was fair and he was able to schedule our job very quickly. They just completed sanding and refinishing the first floor of our home and rebuilding/finishing stairs to our basement. It came out absolutely gorgeous-we couldn't be happier! They helped us move a few big pieces of furniture before and after the job and were extremely careful with our furniture-you could tell they also took great pride in their job on our floors! I recommend this company HIGHLY and will use them again if we have other floorwork to be done in this home or future homes. THANK YOU!!!!!

I purchased the deal to have my floors done by Mike. He showed up for the estimate on time and i was very pleased with his professionalism. His people showed up on the agreed upon time and they finsihed the job as per specification. The only caveat i would have to other poeple getting the job done by Mike is to be prepared to provide access to your electrical panel. They connect directly to your elctrical panel wiring for their sander. Other then this little surprise i would use then again if i had the need!!!

Mike was contacted two weeks in advance of the work date and he gave me an estimate of how much the work would cost (on top of the Angie's list special) to refinish the two rooms, entryway, replace some boards and add a threshold. The board replacement was optional and he was informative and left the decision to me. His pricing was, in the end, was accurate and very fair. However he had said he thought the work could be done in one day. When he and the crew arrived to do the work, he told me it would need two days to apply two coats of stain. I expected this, but was a little disappointed. Mike ended up applying three coats and the floors look great. Also, my place was left clean. These are huge deals to me. If I could give an A - minus instead of an A, though, I would, because of two small concerns. The first being the underestimated time, and the second being that we didn't discuss oil or water-based stain. I regret not bringing it up, but it slipped my mind. The fumes of the oil-based stain are taking a little time to dissipate. I would still recommend Mike to anybody and appreciate the cleanliness and professionalism in the job.

I had a bedroom floor that was covered by wall-to-wall carpeting refinished. The floor underneath the carpeting looked like h***. There were paint stains from previous owners, scratches, water marks etc. all over the floor. They were able to get all but one stain out of the floor and it now looks nearly brand new. The floor itself was laid in 1959 and the carpet has been there from at least 1992.

Mike and his crew did an amazing job refinishing the wood floors on the entire first floor of our house. The floors had sun damage, water damage in two small spots, dents in floor and 14 years of wear and tear. Mike's guys sanded down the floor and refinished the floor to look brand new. I'm not kidding, it looks like a brand new floor. I couldn't be happier with how the floor turned out. He told me his guys were the best, he told me I would be really happy with the result and he was right.

I am the type of person who always gets quite a few estimates before any job is performed at my house, and I like to ask a lot of questions before any work is performed. We had six of the highest-rated flooring contractors on Angie's List come out to my house and provide estimates for the work that was to be done in our house (approximately 1,200 square feet of new hardwood installation on our main floor), and even though the other contractors may have done good work, I am confident that we absolutely made the right choice in going with Mike for this installation. His company is the best of the best. Part of the reason we chose to go with Mike's Flooring is that during the estimate, he showed that his number-one goal was for us to be happy long-term with our flooring. He also clearly understands what it takes for a floor to be installed correctly (for example, he explained that our floor had to be installed across the joists rather than with the joists--when we had just had three other estimators tell us it didn't matter which way the floor boards went). The concern for our overall happiness was apparent when we were negotiating a final price. Not only did he come in at a lower price than the other companies, but after the price was determined, he added services at his own expense to make sure we were going to be as happy as possible with our floors. Our kitchen was the only room in the house with hardwood (2 inch planks installed at a 45 degree angle), and everyone who came out suggested refinishing it to match the new floor. After talking with Mike about installing wider 3 1/4 inch planks throughout the house, he said he would rip out the kitchen and install the same floor in the kitchen so that it matched perfectly with the surrounding rooms. He said we wouldn't be happy with a kitchen with smaller planks at a different angle than the rest of the home, and he didn't want us to regret the decision. He also wanted to be sure we were happy with the stain color (which I will talk about in a moment) The installation process went very smoothly, and we were very happy with the installation team, who worked until almost 7:00pm every night. The first day, Mike's team, led by Marcel, worked on something that none of the other companies were going to do--preparing the sub floor. We had very creaky floors before the installation, so they spent literally hours putting screws at six-inch intervals along the entire subfloor. We have two young children, and it it so nice to now be able to walk through house at night while the kids are falling asleep without awakening them with the creaking floor. To maintain continuity with the window and door trim throughout the house, Mike recommended that he remove and reinstall the baseboards that we have. He also installed them slightly higher to give them a taller appearance. We expected that a few of the baseboards would break during the process, but they were really careful and the baseboards show no wear for the removal and reinstallation. After three days of the installation and sanding of the hardwood, we came back to the house to look at stain samples. In order for us to make a color choice that would work best in our home, Marcel put a variety of stain samples directly on our floor so that we could see exactly what it would look like. I am SO HAPPY that they wanted us to do this, because if not, we would have gone with the color we thought was our "favorite" based on a small keychain chip, and it would not have matched our home. As far as I can tell, Mike's Flooring is the only company that does this, and it probably has the biggest impact on your overall happiness with the floor. He ended up creating NINE different samples on the floor, with the last one being a mix of two different stains. It took more than an hour for us to choose the right color, but this is most definitely the one that matches our home best, and because of that, we are going to be happy with our floors for a long time. As a final note, I'd also mention that Mike's team did a great job keeping dust to a minimum, and covering all doorways, cabinets, bookshelves, etc. with plastic so that we didn't have to clean every tiny nook after the installation. They even seemed to do cleaning of the baseboards, window ledges, and any exposed surfaces before leaving. While we all certainly want contractors who will do whatever we want, it is perhaps even more important to have a contractor who will save us from making bad decisions. Mike and his team spent the time to make sure we were happy with every decision, and they were friendly, neat, and efficient. I could not recommend a company more highly.

I bought a coupon through Angie's List intending to have the floor in one unit of a 2 flat sanded and refinished, knowing full-well that I would have to pay more for the whole job. Mike communicated very well and met me as intended at the apartment. He took measurements, and I pointed out a few boards that needed to be replaced. He also explained to me that they could replace the boards where the old radiator boards were. I had no idea that this could be done, but knew it would improve the appearance of the apartment. After looking at the apartment, I asked Mike if he could look at the floors in my house. I had some broken floor boards for 2 years that had been bothering me. He followed me to my home, a few blocks away, and took a quick look at the boards. He wrote them into the estimate, which seemed very fair for the amount of work that would go into these 2 jobs.Mike scheduled the floor of the apartment with me on one day, and we left the house a little flexible, because the apartment was a full day's work. He called back a couple times trying to fit the house repair into a partial day that fit both of our schedules. We were able to connect. We could not be happier with the results of the work or with the professionalism of his workers. In the future I will call Mike's Hardwood Flooring first.

They were amazing. Mike and his team were great to work with and really did everything they could to make my house looks the best it could without costing me a small fortune. Anytime someone comes into the house they complement how nice the flooring looks. From deciding what type of floor to cleaning up after themselves they really took their time, made sure it was done right and made sure I was happy. Best part was it was all done within a week from consultation to floor being done.

We hadn't had them done in over 24 years and we have pets so you know this story. Mike came and did a thorough estimate of the job. His guys came on time and did a great job of containing the dust. Mike and his crew were great to work with and our floors look stunning. Highly recommended, and my wife and I are pretty hard to please sometimes.
