Description of Work: I called for information as I had water damage to my hard wood floor. I was told that they can't just replace part of the floor. I wasn't even asking for that, especially since I am not sure what needs to be done. When asked if someone could come out and provide a quote, I was told it is $75. No thanks. Too bad as the reviews were good.

We are very sorry for misunderstanding. We explained you what can be done but probably you miss understand that. You just tell us that you want to make a insurance claim for recent water damaged what you had and for that, yes we have a policy charging a fee, for water damaged issues, to come out to evaluate your floor. We explained you that the charge was returned to you in case you are using our service. You didn't agreed to this charge and now you are upset....Good luck with your project.

Description of Work: Midwest sanded,stained and sealed our kitchen/family room/laundry room floors. We were pleased with Midwest from the first phone call. Marion explained in detail what would be done. When he came out to check the work that needed to be done, he wanted to be sure we were all on the same page and let us know that because of the natural wood of our floor (without stain), the color would be slightly lighter than adjacent floors. Description of Work: He arrived late, and then began to give his opinion on what was wrong with the hardwood floor and workmanship already in my home. Marian opinion about the set price and coverage of the work I needed done was very aggressive. He needs to listen to the customer and only answer questions asked.

About being late you can tell that you have a different address in your Angie's List member profile and I drive 2 hours (55 miles) from our office, to come, trying to serve you. The way i see it you didn't appreciate it. About listening, yes i listen to you and after that i give you my professional opinion about it. I just explain you about installing hardwood floor in a shower bathroom is not going to be a good option for you in a long run. You just don't want to listen. Actually you don't need a real professional to do the work because you know better then them. Sometimes you need to listen to what could be done and what could not be done even in your house. I just was very honest in my explanation. You ask question and i answer it in a professional way but you didn't pay attention to, because you are a type of person witch want everything in your way and i'm not the type of person to tell people what they want to hear to get a job. Good luck with your project.

Description of Work: We had a 6 room second floor apartment that we needed to have ready for a new tenant. Marion's crew did an awesome job sanding every floor space including removing tile from the kitchen floor before sanding. The new tenant was as impressed as we were. We will use Marion next time we get one of the apartments floors done!

Like other Angie's list members, i highly recommend Marian and Midwest hardwood floor inc. We had this team to sand and stain our floors in a new condo in Lincoln square. Marian showed us several samples and custom mixed color to our satisfaction(above and beyond the usual 3 sample colors most others do). He answered our questions patiently, and also provided us step by step directions as to what would be done when ,how much it wold cost and why, and demonstrated utmost professionalism and knowledge. He and his crew was there on time every day, usually before 8, and price was also very competitive. Marian is just such a really nice guy and highly recommend him for any job- big or small.

This is a long overdue review for Marian and his crew of talented and hardworking flooring professionals and I hope this bears the weight it should. I am a practicing home inspector who has also remodeled my fair share of projects over the years. I have seen a fair amount of the good and an awful amount of the bad. I was introduced to Marian back in 2003 to handle a couple of homes I was working on and I haven't looked back since. Every job he has ever worked on that I have either hired him for or seen has been excellent. He WILL NOT complete the job until it meets his critical eye nor will he sell you something that he thinks you don't need. Fairly priced and very communicative are two descriptions I could give among many others. He is a flooring professional from the get go.It has been nearly ten years since my first project with Midwest and guess who did my own personal home when it was time? You are correct, there was never a second's doubt that he was going to be my guy on job. Our floors were not easy to work with--we used salvaged oak with many a funky board, knot, swale, swirl, pock mark, etc. They turned out beautifully and we are complemented every time a new guest arrives and asks what/how/who/why about them. You will not be disappointed nor will you have to worry about the finished project. Tell them what you want, hire them, and then let them do what they do best. You will be thrilled.
