From the estimate through the finishing process it's clear that Marian's focus is on customer satisfaction. Prior to beginning the work I expressed some concern about the stairs that were underneath the carpeting (very squeaky and not very solid). He made sure to secure the stairs and eliminate the squeaks in both the stairs and the rest of the floor. He also rebuilt some stairs without any additional charge. The end result is that the floor and staircase are fantastic.

Always like it when the owner shows up to give the estimate and is on-site when the work is being done. Marian does both. Although Marian told me he was not the best hardwood floor refinisher in Chicago, and added, "but I do my best," from the quality of his work I can't imagine what a better job might look like. Bottom line: My wife is happy. I am happy. I hope Marian is happy.

Our friends "Ooh" and "Aah" over the hardwood work that Marian and Midwest Hardwood did. I , too, "Ooh" and "Aah".I do a lot of my own remodeling in any spare time I get and can be a very fussy judge of workmanship. I have to say I am very impressed with the attention to detail evidenced in the work performed (casing and trim undercut very well and polyurethane applied smooth and "fish eye" free.). When Marian arrived (right on time) for the estimate, we had asked him if we shoudl remove the old hardwood and start with fresh (as we did with our previous home). Marian said "don't do that; this will be beatuiful when refinished". WOW! was he right. Having had our previous house hardwood removed, replaced and finished, I kind of had an idea of what to expect. The quality and expertise of this job matched perfectly with the price paid. Without hesitancy I would utilize Midwest Hardwood again.

Marian came to give me an estimate very soon after I called. After looking at the damaged floor boards under the radiator, he instructed me to get a plumber to remove the radiator so that he could have the access to do the job right. He recognized immediately what the plumber later confirmed, that the single pipe boiler system made the radiator removal tricky enough that it should only be done by a plumber. Marian also gave my excellent advice as to what questions to ask the plumber so that we could be sure that the radiator could be re-installed without an issues. Once the radiator was removed, it was essential to get the work done on an expedited basis in order to not effect the other units in my building. Marian fit me in very quickly. He and his other guy arrived on time, did impeccable work, very professional, tidy and hard-working. I could not have been happier with the work, the rates, and the service. Marian is a total pro. It is abundantly apparent that he cares greatly about the quality of his work and the satisfaction of his customers. I will definitely use him again and recommend him to everyone I know.

Called Midwest Hardwood Floors for a quote on the job based on reviews on Angie's List. My called was promptly returned by Marian, the owner. I described the work I wanted done and we arranged a meeting for him to take a look. On meeting we discussed different possibilities for the project - sand, re-stain and refinish or just sand and refinish. Marian was very helpful and informative during the meeting and had a quote for me within 24 hours. After receiving all quotes I decided to go with Midwest. I arranged with Marian to get work started within a week and he and his crew then completed the work over a period of 4 days. I was very pleased with the finished work. The floors looked great. It was an excellent sanding job - no scratches, no dips in the floor from over sanding. The finish was equally well done - 2 coats, evenly applied; Smooth finish, no bubbles, great natural color. I would certainly use them again and highly recommend Midwest Hardwood floors to anyone who asked.

Overall, Marian and his helper did a great job. I like in particular the responsiveness of him returning call, and followup after the job to check on the result. I would like to have a second coat of poly if not for the $600 quote which I think is more than I though it should be. But one coat looks OK and I hope it lasts us awhile.

Since I have a few properites and my usual contractor was booked and I needed to get my rental property remodeled I searched for a new company ( at Angie's List ) which was overall as great as my usual contractor. Marian was very professional and I was able to schedule the appointment by going to company's website and filling up a form and he responded right away. I was impresseed with his knowledge in the remodeling business. Even though I have knowledge of the remodeling business, he was able to explain to me how he can level the basement floor with a self leveler and not have to worry about breaking the concrete flooring in the basement and re-concreting it. That alone saved me thousands!!! I like this guy already!! His crew came in as scheduled and completed the pergo laminated flooring in the basement with all the baseboards and trims, re-finished the existing wood flooring in the Duplex upstairs, removed the carpet on the stairs and installed new wood flooring and matched the color to the existing flooring, removed the vinyl flooring in the kitchen and installed porcelain tiles. All this work was done in 10 days and I was able to get the new tenants in and that made me even happier. I saved money and I received money from the new tenants! An amazing project and would hire him again for my future property remodels.

Went very well overall. Marian is very communicative. He came out to give us an estimate and showed pictures of his previous work. Also very reasonably priced compared to some other estimates we had. The guys came out and were very punctual and professional, and nice to boot. After work was done they cleaned up after themselves. Would recommend to anyone, very honest and polite . Is not ease to find contractors like Marian.

From the initial consultation to work completion, Marion and Midwest Hardwood were total professionals. I have a 100 year plus house with various used and abused hardwood floors. They sanded and refinished a foyer, staircase, upper foyer and study for a reasonable fee. They started on time, finished on time and provided the promised results. Attention to detail and little extras are what makes this company. Marion actually refinished the foyer free of charge so that it would blend in with the staircase. I was home for much of the work so I saw first hand their attention to detail.

Marian is very knowledgeable about carprenty, woodworking and floor repair. He explained the process clearly and gave me a fair and honest estimate (including an additional discount for cash payment over and above the Angie's List discount). He advised me against doing certain work even though his recommendation reduced his bottom line. Marian completed the work in a timely, professional manner. Honestly I cannot say enough good things about Marian--he is fair, professional, pleasant, accommodating and has an excellent work product. I recommend him highly!

Every aspect of working with Marian and his crew was a pleasure. Marian has a work ethic that is hard to come by these days, and takes great pride in his work. Upon contacting Marian, the owner, he was at our home within 48 hours to give us an estimate. He started the work installing our floors shortly after, and had them completed ahead of schedule. Marian was positive and professional at all times. I had bamboo flooring installed over 680 square feet of my one bedroom condo. He was willing to deal with the complications of working in a high rise building; in a confined space that was fully furnished. He worked with the building manager providing all necessary documentation prior to the installation. I selected the bamboo from samples he brought to my home. He ordered and picked up all of the materials. This job also included removing carpeting and old base boards, as well as moving furniture. The entire project took 4 days. Every morning Marian and his assistant arrived ready to work. At the end of each day they cleaned up not only inside my condo, but also vacuumed the public corridor outside of my condo. Each day they also removed any debris. The maintenance guys in my building commented on what a good job they did, and how responsible they were. All new baseboards were also installed throughout my condo. Marian paid great attention to detail, making sure that each aspect of the installation was completed in a way that would look the most professional. He offered to make improvements that were beyond what the job required. The finished results are beautiful and all that I had hoped for. It was a pleasure working with Marian, and I would recommend him without reservation.

Marian came out the same day I called, on a Sunday, to provide and estimate. He was upfront with the services and needs for completing the job. Time was of the essence and Midwest Hardwood Flooring Inc were able to complete the job in only 2 days with amazing quality. MHF was there each day on time and was trusted with key access. Marian was onsite and performed the work with help. Also, insured that property was cleaned up and floors dried/ accessible for the painters. Overall one of the best experiences ever with a contractor!

Marian responded the same day as I left a message and came to look at the job the next morning. He was on time every morning and left with his tools all organized in one corner for the next day. We wanted to save the base shoe around the whole area and not install new ones or paint. Marian told me, and I knew from previous quotes and from experience that it can?t be guaranteed not to leave some damage. But I have yet to find any damage, it looks fantastic! The floors over all look like new and yet with that appeal of ?old? hardwood. The finish also matched perfect with the brand new hardwood floors we added to our second floor. Adding the flush hardwood register was well worth the extra money ? it looks like it?s been there forever and blends perfectly with the rest of the floor. Marian explained the process how he would complete job, and wanted to make sure I was a happy customer. He even re-arranged a day from his schedule to prioritize my floors. From start to finish, an excellent experience!

Marian's company was the forth company what i call for a estimate.After he explain all the details , he give me a competitive price and i hire him. Thursday morning he show at 8.00 with his helper and started the job. My floor now looks like new and the color what Marian did on the wood is very nice. Marian is very professional ,his helper clean all the dust from the walls, definitely i refer him to all my friends.If you want a professional guy for the job Marian is that guy.

Marion (the owner) came over immediately after I called to give me an estimate. My dogs has ruined my carpeting and he was available to do the work asap. Marion did an excellent job. He was very professional and punctual and my new floors look beautiful. I would definitely refer him.

Highly recommended. I called on 4 flooring contractors to give us quotes on refinishing of hardwood floors. We chose Marian and Midwest hardwood floor because he explained everything patiently and thoroughly. He was also almost $1000 cheaper than the others three. He explained that some of the stringers and risers didn't really need to be refinished but just buffed which saved me money. The repairs was a perfect. He and his crew were very professionals,the color what they cover the floor is very nice. He show on time every day after 8:00.Job also was finished ahead of schedule.You are not going to be disappointed using this company. Most importantly, the final product looks great.

I was also very pleased with Marian because he was the only one how followed up after quoting the work.the other companies probably thought my job was to small so they. After finalizing a start date Marian the owner ,came to the house promtly on the date we agreed, explained the work details, and procceded the work. He finished on sunday , normally they don't work on sunday, but because i had to move the furniture back he agree to do the work. This is something what not every company do (working on sunday).The floors are so beautiful i almost hate to walk on them. I would recommend Marian to anyone, you will not be disappointed.

Marian is wonderful to work with. Our new floor look AMAZING.From the very beginning he was very personable , professional and his prices were the most reasonable. On site ,he and his helpers are incredibly meticulous.They spend a lot of time prepping the area to make sure the and results are the best they can de. I really appreciated Marian explaining why certain things needed to be done so that i understood the process and why i would be changed for certain things.In addition they are incredibly neat, punctual and he even finished ahead of schedule.The end results is incredible.Our floors went from dull scratched up hardwoods that were old carpeting to gleaming , beautiful floors that look brand new. The stain is perfectly applied and looks gorgeous.There is no doubt that if we ever need any work done on our floors in the future that we would go back to Marian. If you want to see your floors undergo a complete transformation at a reasonable price-you'll want to too.

It went fantastic. Marian and his crew did the best job, in budget and on time. He left the place spic and span. They even did some additional work that wasn't part of the deal-removing carpet and staples, install new quarter-around. Quality was very good. I will definitely use him again.
