We were under a very tight time fame to refinish hard wood floors before moving. Marian was extremely responsive and was able to accommodate our very tight schedule. He kept in touch with updates during the refinishing and gave us a great recommendation on the stain color that enhanced the natural grain in our wood floor. The floors look great and he and his crew did a fantastic job, we are very pleased with our "new" floors. As with any job this size there will be a few slight imperfections; he quickly addressed any issues we had in a professional manner to our satisfaction. He was a pleasure to deal with, and we would not hesitate to use his services again.

Price was competitive - right on with another quality provider, both for this job and an install job we decided to defer. Marian was extremely responsive. E-mails/calls answered very promptly. Estimate was quickly scheduled. Best provider I've ever dealt with in this regard. A++ -- would highly recommend Marian to anyone where timing is a big issue. We have a baby grand piano in one of the rooms - Marin had a creative solution to work around it instead of having to move it, saving us money. Dust was kept to a minimum and there were no issues with damaged walls, etc. The finish quality was not as good as I've experienced in the past. This may have been exacerbated by our choice of waterbase semi-gloss finish, but the initial 3 coats did not look good. Marin was very responsive when I expressed my concern, and came back to put on a 4th coat which did improve the finish quality materially, though still not as good as I've experienced in the past (which was a waterbased satin - which does hide imperfections better). There were also a few spots where the old oil based poly was not completely removed so you can see faint lines where the sander stopped -- fixing this would have required starting over, so I did not ask Marian to do anything on this issue. Overall, it is very easy to work with Marian and despite a few quality issues, I'd recommend him as an extremely professional contractor.

Marian gave us good advice, not at all seeking to increase the amount of work. His crew installed the floor efficiently and did a good job patching around a radiator that was too old to move. And finally, when our 6-year-old walked onto the still-wet floor just minutes after they left, Marian came back at no charge two days later to fix the footprints. The results are beautiful. Thank you!

Marian is terrific and a joy to work with. He's personably, prompt and very responsive to questions and concerns we had. His team arrived on time and they were diligent and respectful. The work is first rate. Our master bedroom floors are old pine floors and they were able to repair damage in spots and refinish them to a level that is most professional. I would certainly hire them again (and we are planning to do so) for other floor refinishing work.

First and foremost, you will not find a better person to work with other than Marion. He answers his phone, follows up on exactly what he says, and is on time! He was a pleasure to work with, and on that alone I would work with him again. On top of that, his team did a great job removing some damaged slats in the middle of my living room and again in the bedroom. I can barely tell which ones he did, and if I didn't know where the work was done I would never notice it at all. The finish came out perfectly, and they did the job exactly as quoted and exactly on time. Marion is a pleasure to work with, you can't go wrong hiring this guy.

Marian was a professional in every way. We had a quick timeline between closing on our new house and moving in. He was able to provide an estimate and start work quickly. We thought we were just refinishing floors that had been carpeted over but after removing the carpet realized part of the flooring would need to be replaced. Marian and his team were able to get the new floors installed and finished within our same timeline. The floors look fantastic (both the refinished and new) and we've received many compliments about the quality of the workmanship. Marian and his team went above and beyond for us.

Called and was told there would be charge to estimate plus extra because we live 30 mins from his location. I would not be calling again.

I were unable to use this service because of the type of sealer that the company used. They were perfect otherwise. When I spoke with them about setting things up they were very courteous, but unfortunately we could not use them.

We learned about this provider from Angies List. A phone call on Monday yielded an offer to look at our flooring on the same day. Marian made it clear that such a consultation came with a fee, deductible should we decide to sign a contract with him. Marian came at the time arranged and spent nearly an hour explaining our options for replacing/refinishing/repairing the floor. In the process he discovered issues deriving from the initial installation which narrowed our options considerably. We appreciated at this point his honesty, professionalism and knowledge. In the end we decided not to proceed as planned--a decision he later said was a good one in his opinion, and he waived his fee even though we offered to pay him for his time. Here is a craftsman who comes with experience, wisdom, and a desire to do what is best for the customer. That wins our respect and determination to use him again should we have needs that he can meet. We are grateful for his candor, skill, and good will.

Marian came and did an appraisal quickly, He was able to work with our schedule to set up a date. The workers came promptly the day of the work. The refinished floors looked amazing. They did a great job. The scratches they repaired on the upstairs floor were no longer visible at all. They cleaned up everything and were done sooner than expected. We were really happy with the work and would definitely use them again.

Marian , the contractor, showed up 18 minutes after the first call!! He then looked around my cafe, came into the basement to see the underside of the floor and said it would be simple. All I needed was about 450 sq. ft. of flooring installed and I was providing the flooring itself from a reclaimed lumber company in Missouri. He said he'd email me with a quote by the next day. He had the quote to me before I got home that day!! This guy is really responsive!! The kind of responsive we all want, but know we usually can't have because people are busy and things come up. At no point did he or his crew deviate in any way from what they said they'd do and how quick they said they'd get it done!! The first day they got started with the subfloor around 10:00 a.m. They started a bit later because, due to the previous holiday of July 4th, my flooring hadn't actually arrived yet, but was supposed to be there that day. Anyway I was doing my own work in the basement while his guys ( two of em) worked upstairs. I was sort of endlessly checking up and down the street for the UPS freight truck kind of nervous about it actually showing up on time. It did and I didn't even know it!! I heard louder than usual noises coming from upstairs and went up to check on his workers to find them off-loading all of the flooring from the UPS truck parked outside. 1400lbs of flooring and they just started loading it into the shop without getting me to help them. Next day they show up at 7:30 and work straight through till about 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. getting about 90% of the floor laid. Wednesday they showed up again around 7:30 in the morning and git the install done, cleaned out the place, began sanding, cleaned again, laid three coats of sealer, buffed that, then a final coat of sealer and were done by 3:00. Prompt, clean, no dust, and best of all they used a water based sealer which meant no smell, no petrol based product and four total coats in one day. You just can't do that with oil based finish!!! These guys are amazing and my floors are phenomenal!! Can't recommend them highly enough!!!

I am extremely happy with this company. Not only did they show up on time and ready to work, but Marian also called the next day to make sure we were pleased with the look and service he and his team provided. We had the living room, kitchen and hallway worked on, we will be using him again to finish our 2 bedrooms. If you need someone who makes the process easy, this is the guy! #SOHAPPY! Oh, and the floors looks fanastic!

Marian(the owner) arrived on time every day for five days. Was well mannered, polite, knowledgeable and had great personality. His work ethic was conscientious and exact.

Initially, Marian did a fantastic job. He was responsive, communicated well through email, and was flexible. His quote changed a bit through the process because he initially quoted me through pictures instead of coming out. All of that was normal and to be expected. The restoration of my original hardwood floors went wonderfully. They truly look amazing. In our kitchen, he had to replace the floors completely. He was able to do a very quick job for me, as well. Within a few days, the house looked amazing, but the kitchen floors still seemed rough, like they needed another coat. I texted him about this right away, to which he said it just looks different because it is new wood. About a year after the initial install of the new floors, I noticed that the wood seemed still seemed dry and dull and certain areas seemed to be getting scratches from very light wear (like in an area underneath at able where no feet had ever touched). I was concerned that the finish may not have been applied correctly, two layers hadn't been applied, or maybe it wasn't allowed the time needed to cure. I reached out via email with several pictures and asked if there was anything I could to to reduce the issues I was beginning to see. He asked what I was treating the floor with to which I replied that I had mopped it twice with Murphy's oil soap. He told me that was causing the issues and I had to only wash with vinegar and water. I made sure there were pads on the legs of all furniture and was especially careful to only ever use diluted vinegar when cleaning the floor. Over the course of the next year, I continued to noticed is coloration and dryness of the wood. Anytime I emailed him, he told me either I was the first person to ever complain in his 20 years of work, or that I needed to have my floors refinished or another coat applied. He did not offer to come out to see the floors or work with me on the cost of applying another coat. When I told him I would be updating my review to reflect that his newly installed floors looked worn and dry after a year,he said he would like to come out and see them. Yesterday, he came by and told me that the reason the floors are dry are: 1. lack of humidity in the home during the winter. 2. possibly sun coming through the window. 3. where the floor is slightly warped (the exact same spot it looks dry) that it's BECAUSE of humidity in the home. 4. the finish job is just very new and will look shiny and wonderful in 10 years. 5. "I don't know what you did to it." He said I could pay to have another coat put on. I suspect that the thing I initially loved about working with him: his speed and flexibility when my move in date got moved up, was the exact thing that ended up meaning the job is not of high quality. I suspect that his workers didn't let the first layer cure before putting a second layer down or maybe even put an extra thin coat in for quicker drying. I'm dissapointed with his deflection and that it took over a year and telling him I would be updating my review in order for him to finally come out and look at my floors. Once he came out, he made little effort to try solving the problem.

They did an excellent, professional job. They came when they said they would, finished when they said they would, and charged what they said they would. There was some dust and fumes from the finish, but not that much and only for a day or two. The results were well worth it - my floors look great. You can't tell the areas they repaired from the rest of the floor.

I originally set out thinking I needed to completely replace the hardwood floors in one of our bedrooms. It's a vintage building and the floors are quite old. We even considered replacing the floors in the entire unit. I talked through all of the options with Marrian and he was refreshingly honest. Knowing that it is a rental property that we did not plan on keeping long-term, he told us that we would never recoup the cost needed to replace the floors...and the resulting costs of replacing the trim and repairing the plaster walls. I have a lot of respect for contractors that give you honest answers and steer you away from projects that would be lucrative for them. I would use Midwest again.

The project went very smoothly. Marian is informative and extremely professional. He discovered stains on some planks that could not be completely removed although he gave it his best effort. I decided to replace the damaged wood and he provided an immediate quote. He continuously gave me photo updates via text while the job was in progress. I am pleased with the results and would definitely recommend this company.

Marian is FANTASTIC! Would definately hire him again. He was very responsive, very professional....took the time to explain everything! He was also very price competitive. Our upstairs floors (three bedrooms and hallway) in our 1940 colonial house look really great! I have already referred him to a friend. You won't be disappointed with the quality of work!

Marian & his assistant did an amazing job on my hardwoods. My floors had not had any attention for over 20 yrs...they now look brand new! We were so impressed with Marian's work we hired him to install new hardwoods in our family room & all 3 bedrooms!

Seemed very nice and knowledgeable. Very willing to work within our accelerated time frame. Quote was a bit high so we opted for a different company (although end services were not 100% equivalent).

Marian was amazing. He was very quick to reply to e-mails, sent us text updates of the progress of the work & sent a photo after the first days work. He even called the day after it was complete to see how we liked it. We were able to book him last minute, he showed up on time and finished the project very quickly (less than 2 days). Our floors had previously been stained a very dark shade and were wanted them back to the natural color. I was a little nervous that it would be hard to get them light again but they came out really nice. They did a great job getting all the wood done around the railings and vents, I was very impressed. There was VERY little dust if any after they were done, I couldn't believe how clean everything was left. Overall, I couldn't have been happer and would definitiely use him again and will recommend him to others.

It went very well. Marion came out to bid the job, and then came back to discuss color, and confirm scheduling. They were very prompt and kept me informed of everything. The floors came out beautifully and everything was left very clean. I was more than happy with the whole process.

The appointment was for 8:00am and he arrived promptly at 7:55am. He greeted me, shook my hand, and introduced himself. He looked at my floors and asked me why I wanted them done because they were in good condition and looked good. I told him the floors were refinished 4-years ago but there was slight damage from a company that redid the kitchen and there were scratches. He saw what I was talking about and told me not to do my floor. He said as a professional he felt weird about taking my money for floors that did not really need to be done. I had already given him the $550.00 deposit. As he turned to leave, he turned around, said my name and gave me back my check. He told me he could not take my money for work that did not need to be done. He was so honest and professional. I told him I appreciated his honesty and professionalism. My niece was in her room during the entire conversation (he did not know that) and after he left, she came out and said, "Wow, that's something new. You don't come across workers like that very often." She was also impressed with his honesty and professionalism. I have no doubt that I would work with Marian at some time in the future.
