The men did a great job. They worked within my time frame of six days. The stain matched the existing wood floors. Marian, the owner, has a lot of pride in his work and It shows in the quality. I wouldn't hesitate to use his company again.

Marian and his team were professional and extremely skilled and detailed. Marian took time to explain to me all the little details ahead of time so there would be no surprises. He communicated with me all the way though the job texting me pictures and explaining what was happening. He started on time and finished before the time he had expected. We were staying at a hotel with 3 of us and our dog so it was much appreciated when he told us we could move back in a little earlier than expected. Our house is over 60 years old and had some original tile. He got that out without damaging anything and also figured out a way to even the floor that was very uneven in different places. Everything looks really beautiful now and it is like a new house! He was also personally wonderful to deal with - his smile and friendly personality never wavered. He is a man who wants quality for his customer and so came back the day after we moved back in and had one of his men fix a small corner round that wasn't lined up properly. I probably would have noticed 6 months from now and would have been upset. I am grateful for his attention to deal. One tip: make sure the cost of removal of old tile, old materials, etc. is included in the price ahead of time. We had a little problem because the village wouldn't pick up the bags that were by the curb. We worked it out with Marian but there was issues with our city pick up.

We were stunned to see the how good our floors looked after the work was done (see the photos on our Yelp review). Our teak parquet floors were thin and fragile, but Marian and his crew worked with extreme care and attention to detail. They really know what they are doing. The previous property owner hired a BAD flooring company and regretted it. This other company stained the wood improperly and then resorted to covering up the beautiful teak with a dark ebony stain. We assumed that we were stuck with a black floor. However, Marian used a small sander in a closet to show how the ebony stain could be removed, without removing more than maybe a millimeter off of the delicate quarter-inch parquet tiles. He answered all of my questions and he understood and followed all of my special requirements for the job. The work was excellent and service was prompt and friendly. There are probably companies out there that will do a hardwood refinishing job for a cheaper rate, but my experience is that it pays to get a real expert like Marian.

Marian came in after another contractor had done terrible restoration work putting two coats over the problems they had created. Marian discussed thoroughly the issues of the floor and the specific places where re-working would be necessary. He made clear what was possible -- and what probably was not. After speaking with two other specialists, his assessment and plan was THE most impressive. He was honest in his preferred taste of the look of 'new' wood floor. Yet, he Listened to how important it was to me to preserve and restore this floor (I had removed almost 2 inches of concrete which had covered it for the last 50 years), and said he would apply his (considerable talents) work to bringing the floor to its' highest beauty and preservation. He even spoke later about his own curiosity about why there was this difference in taste between us....he realized via personal reflection on his part what shaped his preference. How often will you find someone who does that?! He is genuine. He came in with his workers, did considerable carpentry Himself and truly brought the floors to their highest possible function and beauty. When I asked about additional coats, he said, "I don't want you to waste your money. The floors are very well protected. Anything more would be simply further protection." I asked his cost per added coat and when he gave me the quote, I told him it was higher than another person's 'per coat'. He said, "No problem. I will do it at that price for you." I asked him to come back and do one more coat -- and he did. The floors are gorgeous. He listened, He applied his considerable skill, He is the Best! I will recommend him again and again and again.

The owner worked with me on doing the work on two different dates do to the lack of space to move furniture. Able to do the job in a timely fashion and the owner's crew were very neat throughout the job.

Marian was so professional, knowledgeable, and gave me a great (the best) price on a 470 sq. foot job in my home. He came and did the job at budget, helped me with some tricky stain color choices and the work was done early. They were spotless and very polite. He was all the things you want in a contractor: responsive, attentive, prompt and professional. I wish I had more floors for him to do!!You can't go wrong with MIDWEST HARDWOOD FLOORS. These guys did an amazing job. We had personally tore up three layers of flooring in our kitchen with the hopes that there would be hardwood underneath that could be saved. The floor looked a bit "scary" underneath with a lot of nail holes and glue. We had several other contractors look at pictures and ended up politely declining the job due to the amount of work involved. Not these guys though! They were more than willing to help us and did an amazing job. Our floors look beautiful and we are so happy we were able to restore the original floor in our 1920's bungalow. Even the guys that did the work seemed impressed :). I would highly recommend these guys.

Very well. Marian and his team were timely and focused on completing the job with no fuss. They completed our entire house in 3 days which was a day ahead of our original schedule. After completion, there were a couple of "touch up" items that they quickly returned and fixed. We were very surprised at how little dust was generated - a quick wipe of flat surfaces was all that was needed. The only item that I would have liked to see done differently (this is a very minor) was the placement of sanding equipment at the end of the day. After the first day, all of the equipment was left in the main walkway. I would have preferred to have it placed in an out of the way corner. I would use Marian and Midwest Hardwood Floors again without hesitation.

It went beautifully! Marian and his crew were prompt, professional and a pleasure to deal with. We have an old Chicago house with typical white oak floors. They did a great job and the floors look wonderful. The dustless system really is dustless! They patched some gouges, and finished the thresholds too. We could walk on the floors the very next day. We are very happy and would gladly recommend Midwest Hardwood Floors to anyone.

Marian and his crew were excellent. Marian promptly came to our house, provided an estimate within a day, and then responded to our questions. We were able to schedule the work pursuant to our mutual schedules about 10 days later. His guys came in and put up the appropriate protection and worked hard to take up the existing floor and put down the new floor, and stain. They also removed and put wood baseboard both against the walls, and the cabinets that previously had vinyl baseboard. All of the work looks great. I asked questions and shared concerns and they were always addressed promptly. Marian came by at least once a day, sometimes twice to check out the work and talk to me, and address concerns. The floors look great. After we had a chance to reinspect the floors after they were completed and found a couple of minor issues we felt needed addressing (one piece of base shoe needed to be added, wanted a smoother transition from hardwood to carpeting), Marian came out the next day and sent his crew back the next afternoon to address them. Very prompt, and he always took our concerns and questions very seriously. And, the end result is a beautiful floor. We are very pleased. Great interaction with the owner and his employees.

Marian was very professional and was a pleasure to work with. We had ripped out carpet and had some pretty significant damage on the first floor and the stairs, but the guys that worked on the project did great work to fix the distressed areas, add new floor boards where needed, and to give us a great final product. The stairs especially were well done considering the condition prior to the project (maple stairs with nail and tack hole and divots galore) - now they are hardly recognizable in the best way. Most other companies that provided estimates said they would not do the risers, told us to just paint the risers, said they would have to take a few extra days to do the stairs as we wanted them done for much more money, and one company simply refused to do the risers. Marian was up front in saying that it was hard work to do them, but that his team could do them in the timeline and price we were looking for. Midwest Hardwoor Floors' price was not the cheapest we were quoted, but considering they finished a day quicker than projected, were willing to do all the extra repair work needed, and had a difficult stairway to work on, I am very happy we went with them. Additionally, they offered good advice on color considering we had three different types of hardwood in the house, and were up front that the maple, pine and oak would look different afterward - we knew this and were ok with it, but some people may not have known.

It went great. Showed up on time and finished early each day. The dust got to be kind of overwhelming throughout the whole house, but that is to be expected. The floors turned out great in the end, and the new wood vents look fantastic. Now just have to get the rest refinished.

His estimate was approximately $1000 more than the deal. I also incurred a $75 dollar charge for him to come give the estimate. I was very disappointed with the travel charge and the extra charge for doing the floor. I am seeking a refund from Angie's List.

Midwest Hardwood Floors installed 4" white oak wood floor, refinished the floors in the first floor of the house and did a wonderful job.The floors are now beautiful and we have had many compliments from friends and neighbors.From the first time we meet Marian, we got a good feeling about his dedication to his work and his professionalism.Actually this is the second time we use Marian respective MHF services. It went very well. They didnt leave a single trace of dust that I can find, and the finish is beautiful. They appear brand new. Marian was also very responsive and they scheduled and completed the project in one week. All in all, I am very satisfied and I would recommend them to anyone looking for this service on Angie's List.

It went well. Showed up on time and it was finished on time. He warned that the color might not match exactly as the floor in whole house is 6 years old. It actually ended up matching very nicely.

Marian and his crew at Midwest Hardwood Floors Inc. were great! They were prompt for both the estimate and performing the work, and they were affordable, and most importantly they did a nice job on my floors. I used the 500 sq. ft. for $999 Angies List offer, and had just over 500 sq. ft. plus stairs that increased the cost to the total of the project to just over $1800. Other estimates I got were north of $2000. And yet I still got excellent work and professional tradespeople to deal with.

We needed our upstairs floors redone and it was somewhat of an emergency. We had a problem when we moved into our house that necessitated tearing up all the upstairs carpeting, which revealed original oak flooring in terrible shape, and in the case of many rooms (including our master bedroom) completely unfinished floor with stain and paint splatters. Marian and his guys were the third of three quotes we got, and the only quote we got for oil based stain. It seems most other companies do water based. We had been warned from a few people who had been through this before that doing water based stain is a waste of money, so that coupled with the fact that Marian's price was more reasonable than the other places lead us to choose him. They were very professional and they were able to schedule us very quickly and perform the work very quickly and they did a fantastic job. Everyone who saw our house before the refinishing (including us) cannot believe how fantastic everything looks. They were able to very closely match the stain of our downstairs floors. I definitely would not say that their system was dustless (there was quite a bit of dust) but they obviously did what they could to keep it contained and cleaned up considerably in their work areas. We were expecting dust anyway...as that sort of comes with the territory with a job like this.
