Description of Work: I saw Golan's is highly rated on A.L., so I set up an appointment for an in-house estimate to move from Chicago to Minneapolis at the end of the month.

Description of Work: Hired the movers to move a small amount of furniture I inherited from my mother. It was a small job. The were quick and polite. I have a piano to move soon, and I'm going to get their quote first.

Description of Work: Moving contents of an 1100 sq. foot, bi-level loft condo (located on the 5th/top floor of an single-elevator building with no loading dock) to a 1300 sq. foot top floor condo of a two-elevator building with a loading dock in the alley), both units located in the South Loop (Chicago). They also moved the contents of my basement storage space from the first condo in addition to delivering some of the items I did not want in the new place to my off-site storage unit.

Description of Work: They moved a large bathroom double vanity w a granite top from my first floor (where it was delivered) up to the new bathroom. They provided three men for the job and I had their services for up to two hours. The vanity was successfully brought upstairs with no problem.

Description of Work: I did not end up using Golan's for our move. They were priced slightly higher, but mostly because our dates changed and a mover that we had used before, who hadn't been available for the original date, was available. Golan's offered to match the price, but we decided to go with the company we already knew.HOWEVER, everything about my experience with Golan's was first rate - from initial contact through estimate and follow-up. I would not hesitate to recommend them and would definitely use them in the future.

Description of Work: I had Golan's move furniture from 3 locations in Chicago and some of the load to 1 location in the suburbs and the remainder to Naples, Florida. The crew arrived on time, were very professional in Chicago. When they went to our home in the suburbs the crew consisted of half of what was in Chicago. They were not aware they were going to be moving a very large armoire from the second floor. They did not even attempt to do it with just 2 men and they scheduled a time the next morning to return and move the armoire.When the truck arrived in Florida there were only 2 men again. The men worked non-stop for 8 hours, they did not even take time to sit down and eat lunch. When it came to the armoire, once again, they were unable to move it to the second floor. It was placed in a room on the first floor and we left it there.

Description of Work: I called and arranged for Golan Movers to move me. They arrived promptly at 8:00 a.m. We did a walk thru of the house. I was then asked to sign a document agreeing to the terms of the move.. Then I asked about insurance. I was shown a form with the cost per amount. After I signed the insurance agreement, I was told items had to be boxed to be insured. There was a charge for the boxes, but I was not told the cost. I then asked why I had not been told if I took insurance I to have everything boxed before I had signed the insurance agreement. My question to the person before me, but he blamed the mis communication on the person I spoke with over the phone when I arranged the move. This did not sit right with me. Red Flag The Golan person got on his phone with someone while I went to my computer to re read the confirmation e- mail Golan Movers had sent me. The e-mail said something about a document which had more info. I had no idea where that document was. I asked the Golan person where the document was. He did not know. I continued to scroll down and DID find the document MUCH further in the e mail. It said Golan movers is not responsible for damaged items boxed whether done so by the customer or their people. Is there a problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So buy insurance, pay for the boxing which you are told will be the only way the items can be insured, get damaged goods, try to make a claim and then be denied the claim because deep within their e mail is written boxed goods not insured. Now that is a good one. RED FLAG I had to move that day, So even with all these red flags I had to let them move me. I made the executive decision to take the TV 's, computer, printer, 2 lamps and a tall fan in my car. But then the Golan person told me they expected payment BEFORE they unloaded my possessions at my new place. That was the last straw. I told them to leave. I was in tears. I had to be out that day. The new people were moving in the afternoon. A half hour after they left, there was a knock on the door. It was one of the Golan people. I actually thought he had returned to apologize and do the move. But no. I opened the door and told me they had left tape and shrink wrap in my family room and if I could retrieve it. I politely told him NO and closed the door.
