Great! The team was early and prepared. I appreciated their willingness to be careful on my newly finished hardwood floors and patiently worked with me to get all items to their right home!

On a recent trip to China, we bought a full-size Qin warrior statue and had it shipped to our home in Chicago. We are currently living overseas. We were notified when the shipment finally reached a warehouse in Wood Dale, at which time we had 5 days to have it picked up without incurring additional costs. I contacted several moving and trucking companies about picking it up and delivering to our house. None of them were very helpful or willing to do this. Then I called Golans and spoke with Nickey. After explaining my situation, she provided me with all the information I needed to make a decision. She was able to get us on the schedule immediately while I was still making arrangements with the warehouse. She was unbelievably responsive, which was awesome, considering a 13-hour time difference. She took care of all the details on the Chicago side. She even followed up with me after the move to let me know how everything went. I could not have been more pleased. I will definitely use Golans in the future and will recommend them to others. Special thanks the Nickey. Wonderful experience.

They arrived an hour late, took several very long breaks, left my items in the elevator while they went to coffee shop, left my items on the truck unattended (I called the office no less than 3 times asking for intervention and/or supervisory personnel at my site...no response), wanted me to sign a "not to exceed document" that was more than twice as much as my estimate (I refused), were unable to move the contents of my apartment into a 10 X 15 locker between 9 AM & 7 PM...had to come back next day ... took an additional 2 hours to unload..that's right ... just unload and put into the locker. I've moved many, many times and have never...EVER, seen such unprofessional and rude behavior. I have NO idea if all of my things are even in the storage locker as I haven't been able to get things moved around to see. They charged my AMEX card for the higher amount saying they would not release my furniture unless I agreed. I disputed the charge and just last week heard from Amex that Golan has not responded, therefore, I will not be charged an additional $480. Seriously, DO NOT recommend these people to anyone. It was a horrible experience ... that may continue if any of my things are missing...which I will never be able to retrieve at this point. I am an older single woman and I believe that I was taken advantage of by this company.

I moved from Chicago to Washington, DC using Golan's movers as recommended by Angie's list. The salesman in Chicago was professional and efficient. I liked him very much, and I felt he did a thorough job of estimating the cost of the move. It all went down hill from there. He represented that Golan's does not subcontract and uses all of their own people for moving services. He also represented that they bill by weight not volume. Unfortunately, the honored neither of these committments. The problem began on the move-out in Chicago where the movers were careful and thorough in their packing of items from the condo. Unfortunately they failed to label many of the boxes, which created a significant mess when trying to move the boxes into the new house. The crew that deliverted the boxes was horrific. They began by driving the truck up to the house and tearing down the cable and phone lines. They then told me that they had hired two unvetted manual laborers to assist two Golan's employees with the move in. One of the two Golan's employees present was not planning to assist with the move and was not equipped to lift heavy furniture. The manual laborers began complaining from the moment they arrived, stating that they were not supposed to lift heavy furniture and that they weren't paid enough for the work ($7.50/ hr they said). They demanded to take breaks early, often and for prolonged periods. They dropped the piano. They damaged a large number of furniture pieces, including the piano, a sofa, and a dresser. They left dirty handprints on the hallway leading upstairs and damaged the paint in the halway and ceiling. They smoked in and near the house. For their part, the Golan's employees failed to assemble much of the furniture that they represented they would in Chicago. They didn't even try to assemble a $900 lamp that they took apart in Chicago and which remains sitting a pile of cables and tape on the floor. The sofa appeard to be assembled as promised but fell apart when moved away from the wall because they did not screw the bolts in. Kitchen and office boxes were delivered to the wrong floors and had to be moved. Finally, Golan's billed me more than the maximum amount allowable on their "Not to Exceed" estimate. They were unaware of the weight of the shipment and even with repeated calls to their national moving manager, they were unable to provide the weight or the correct pricing for the move. They did not assist in any way with adjudication of the claims for damage caused by the move. The process has left me contacting at least 6 vendors to provide individual repair estimates for the damage they caused to individual furniture items. Overall, I found the service shockingly poor and I could never recommend them based on the service they provided to me.

They were supposed to deliver my furniture on September 1st. It is now September 4th and I still do not have my furniture or any idea if I will get it. I called to check on the furniture and they said I had to speak to Peter Kim, who no longer has a phone extension at the office, to see if I was going to ever receive it all. I spoke with Jacob at their corporate office and he cannot get a hold of anybody at the California office either. Jacob has also promised to give me a call back on two different occasions and I have not received a call. On their company voicemail they brag about how highly rated they are on Angie's List and their customer service is amazing. The corporate number where i reached Jacob as is 847-673-8189. I have left 12 messages on the emergency phone number within the company and have only received 2 calls from all the messages. I called and spoke to Jacob in the Chicago office. I was given a 3 day window but he swears that he tells all his customers that it is a 10-15 day window. I do not believe this. He also tried to tell me that the California and Chicago offices are not even connected, but they have the same name and same phone number. Their dealings with me have been ruthless and rude. They have not apologized or accepted any responsibility for the wrong they have done me. I tell them that I am speaking to Angie's List about this complaint and they don't seem to care.

It went very well. It was difficult to find anyone to move a studio apt; Golan's had a 1000 pound minimum plus they were highly recommended on Angie's list. The phone consultant, Tony, was very attentive to our needs and we agreed on a date for the workers to come and pack and move my daughter's belongings. I was really nervous about whether they would actually show up on time or would show up at 9 pm or so when I had had to arrange a flight out of Chicago for her the next morning. Tony kept reassuring me whenever I called and noted "We are a professional moving company!" They were indeed. The workers actually showed up 10 minutes before the 2-hr window they had given my daughter. They packed everything well and had to lug a half-size refrigerator, window a/c, microwave, trunk, and 31 other boxes down a couple of narrow stairways in her older southside building, but they had her all packed up and her stuff on the truck in a little under 3 hours. Moving her belongings back to our house was a good experience, too. They drove up, unloaded her items in the driveway, we both checked all the numbers on the items and signed that they were received, and they brought them into the garage and kitchen where I had indicated. The refrigerator and trunk were wrapped up nicely, and no boxes were torn open or damaged. We have not discovered anything damaged or broken and have opened most of the boxes now. The final bill was a bit more than the estimate because the weight turned out to be 1200 pounds instead of the estimate of 1000 pounds, but the cost was well worth it and just a few hundred dollars more than we spent last fall driving only a third as much stuff from Virginia to Chicago with us doing all the work! I would most definitely recommend Golan's again!

The process went brilliantly. The agent came to our house to provide a quote and estimate the number of boxes we'd need. They delivered the boxes and we started packing, but life got in the way, and the movers did most of the packing. They very conscientiously packed delicate items, and very swiftly boxed up everything else. I see people complaining that they are pricey, but I believe they earn it in professionalism, speed and care. This is easily the only painless move I have ever experienced.

Great job - the five movers worked as a team and had us moved out of our old place and into our new with efficiency and care!

They were very fast and cautious. They were very considerate of dates and times and most of the time they were waiting on us instead of us waiting on them. Their pricing was pretty competitive as well.

They were fantastic and very efficient. We were very pleased with them from the time they arrived to the time they left. I would recommend them highly.

When I called Golan's I was greeted with respect and kindness. I can't say that for many of the other larger moving companies that I spoke with previous to speaking with Golan's. Tom handled my move from the beginning and would up taking care of some things for me at the end as well. Tom was very knowledgeable and took care in asking me many questions about the items that I would be moving. He eased my mind about many questions I had concerning the long distance move. We set a date for pick up during that first call as I was impressed. The movers that came to my home to pick up my things we all very nice. They were clean, respectful and were all very professional. However, I was only prepared and had tip money for only 2 movers as I was told that only 2 would be coming to my home. I planned on tipping $25.00 each so when I saw that there were 3 getting out of the truck I had to get more cash and just tipped $20.00 each. ALL 3 movers were professional, didn't ding a wall, a corner or any of my furniture. I truly appreciated the care they took in wrapping all of my items and making sure that each item was handled with care in placing it on the truck. They were quick and efficient. Although, I was pleased with Tom and his level of expertise he had with moving, I was not happy that I only lived approximately 20 minutes north and west of where their office was and I was denied an on site quote. I feel this was the biggest problem I had. I did have a few more boxes than anticipated, which I'm sure they run into quite often, but the furniture I was quoted for was pretty spot on. I was given an "over-the-phone" quote for 3100 pounds to be moved from Libertyville, IL to Concord, OH. This was also to be an over quote so I didn't have any surprise fees to pay upon delivery. In this lies my issue. I found the service that was completed by both the movers who picked up and dropped off to be top-notch and all of them were quick, efficient and very friendly. They took great care in making sure my belongings weren't broken or damaged ( in which none of them were). That part of the move, I couldn't have been more pleased with. However, once they picked my things up and put them on the truck and went back and weighed it, it turned out that I had much more than what I was quoted for. This brought our total up by nearly $1200.00. That was a problem. The next problem was the communications I received after that. The e-mail I received from a man named Michael, were wrong. The first one said that my actual weight was only like 600 pounds, which would have meant that I had a credit coming to me. The next one was sent to my e-mail with someone else name and address on it and the wrong quote number attached saying that I would owe something to the tune of $2300.00 more upon delivery. My heart sank as this really put my husband and I in a bind at the very last minute before I relocated to Ohio with my children. I then called Tom and also spoke with another woman in billing. The woman told me that my quote was wrong and I would have money coming back. Tom told me that I went over in poundage and had to pay more. My issue wasn't with the materials charge, but with the fact that I wasn't given and actually was denied an on-site estimate. Had I been given this very simple and much needed opportunity, the surprise of owing another $1200.00 wouldn't have been an issue. If we had to move again ( out of state that is), I would certainly think about hiring them again, however, I would insist upon an on-site estimate to save myself the tears and frustration of having to find another $1200.00 we didn't have. If they refused again, I would most definitely find myself a different mover to use. This is Golan's biggest downfall in my personal experience with them. But overall, my items were safe and undamaged and that mattered most. We eventually caught up with the extra charges we incurred due to their lack of professionalism with the quoting and we are happy in Ohio. Thank you Tom, thank you movers and if you asked where you could improve, I'd say to make sure you have staff that are knowledgeable enough to preform on-site estimates for people as this is the most fair thing to do when someone is making a long distance move. Actually, I feel it's pretty vital to have one.

Fair . I had a hard time getting them to pin point my delivery date. It makes it hard to be at home when you work. They pretty much told me to call in sick ! The moving end was fair but Henry the truck driver/ unloaded was great

Their price was the most reasonable and I loved the reviews from Angie's list. The crew was estimated to take 5 hours from start to finish. They arrived 20 minutes early and had completely finished packing our first floor and garage onto the truck in less than an hour! Needless to say the rest of the morning went by fast. We were unpacked at our new house and the guys were back on the truck in less than 3 1/2 hours. Not one thing was damaged and the crew was very professional. They didn't mind that our dog was trying to help. They even found a tennis ball to throw for her! If we ever move again we'll definitely be using Golans.

The movers arrived on time and worked very hard to move all the furniture and boxes. They wrapped all the furniture so it would not be damaged in the move. They also wrapped glass table tops and TVs very securely. The time it took them to move everything was consistent with their estimate. We were very pleased by their work.

Everything that could go wrong went wrong. They came over to give me an appraisal and told me that they thought that they would need to come the day before to help pack. They never showed up the day before. They guy threw everything into boxes and I could not find anything and things got wrecked. The woman on the phone screams at you. They said I could pay with a debit card and they swiped it and they said it didn't go through so then I had to use a credit card. They left a large number of heavy items in my old apartment. They rushed me to get me over to the new apartment. I was left doing 2 days worth of moving after they have left. The lady asked why I didn't call the day before the move and I told her I thought they had it scheduled. They never did a walk through in the old apartment to make sure everything was taken. On their checklist they were supposed to do a walk through.

We moved a lot of stuff ourselves, from Evanston to Albany Park. But for the big stuff we hired Golan's. They were efficient, professional, highly skilled, and organized. They even left us a moving blanket to help us rearrange stuff once they were gone if we decided to change where we put things.

Arrived about 8 hrs later than promised, with a truck that was too small to hold all of our belongings. Left half of our possessions sitting out in the street/sidewalk in the dark in Long Beach. Had to come back the next morning while we were not there to finish their job. They apparently didn't have the right tools to take our computer desk apart, so the just literally ripped it apart. When they arrived to the final destination and opened up the truck doors, we saw that our stuff had shifted, and boxes had fallen to the floor. There was a pretty decent amount of property damage that we are still trying to get compensated for. I would never in a million years recommend this company to anyone. The guys that came to pack our stuff up were so new at their job, and it definitely showed!

On the positive side, they were responsive with quotes and arrived exactly as they said they would. They did not overcharge or use hidden excessive charges. And, they moved our things across the country quite quickly. On the negative side, the broke furniture before it even left the apartment! At first, the movers denied they broke anything, but eventually they admitted to the mistake. I have moved many times and never seen this happen. We expected that the company would cover the cost of repair given that the furniture hadn't even been moved yet. We took photos, filed a report, etc. and in the end we paid for the repairs since we had elected for extra insurance but this included a deductible. Overall, I would suggest that you not use Golan Moving and Storage. However, if you do, definitely get the insurance with no deductible since they do not handle items very carefully and you'll want to be covered.

Golan's Moving & Storage were quick and polite but they didn't clean up after themselves.

Best and most polite movers I have ever dealt with. I will absolutely use them again. I have used tons of mover. Unbelievably fast in a good way. I couldn't praise them more.

On the day of the move, the foreman and crew arrived at our condo toward the end of the specified timeframe, but still within the window. Everything went smoothly, until they were moving our couch, and failed to provide adequate support while they were lifting it upright - one of the legs fell and made a big dent in our freshly painted wall! I mentioned this to the foreman, and although there was somewhat of a language barrier between us, he appeared to understand. After that, we all went to our storage facility to remove the remainder of our stuff. At the end, when I again mentioned the dent to the foreman, he suddenly appeared to have no idea what I was talking about/couldn't understand me at all! As you can imagine, I was kind of annoyed/frustrated! But I also figured that the most important part was making sure our stuff arrived on time, and then I could figure out how to proceed after that. Well, since I had been diligent in following up with our moving coordinator, our belongings actually arrived on the first day of the delivery window- only 4 days after the pickup! (Extremely rare for moving companies!!!) Everything was there, and nothing was lost or broken. The back-end movers were very courteous and worked quickly and professionally. Because of this great outcome, we decided not to complain about the dent mishap. Although spackling the night before a 1,000 mile drive was a bit inconvenient, overall the pluses of the move definitely outweighed the minuses. The major pluses were good follow-through from the coordination side, good overall price value, and speedy timing. I would definitely consider using this company again and recommend it to others.

They did a superb job. They were really wonderful. The price was reasonable. We did price comparisons and theirs was a really good price.

As always, they did a great job. I will be using them again to move my things down to Houston. The guys were great. They came in and got the work and finished up short of the time they had quoted me, so I was happy. The price was not near as much as I thought it would be.

The move went so well. We actually paid LESS than the estimate! They packed up one day and moved us in the next day. Even for a small apartment they had 5 guys which made the move a lot less stressful. They did everything quickly, they were extremely professional and they even helped us unpack some of the boxes. They also came back a couple of weeks later and took the boxes away. When we unpacked everything there was not one thing that was broken. They really did an excellent job packing all the plates and glasses. We will definitely use them again.
