for me it was questionable service, he did a great job in painting. the color was great. The issues i have is the continuing increase with the price. so he quoted $1200 ended up being over $2000.

They were excellent. Marc helped me choose colors, and even though the colors were fairly neutral, they turned out to be great choices. The 3 guys who did the repairs and painting were really, really nice. They were pleasant, respectful of my property, very courteous, and took a lot of pride in their work which was a pleasure to witness. You can't tell where the peeling paint or cracks were. Surfaces which I thought would be a little challenging, like the kitchen cabinets and the exterior doors, were done impecably. During the estimating process Marc did misjudge the amount of paint and materials that would be needed, so half way into the job I had to put out a little extra money to cover the costs. Everything worked out okay though. I was very satisfied upon completion of the work, and visitors have commented on how great the place looks. I would not hesitate to use them in the future.

My husband and I acquired our house with sweat equity, after doing all of the work ourselves to upgrade a condo that we sold at a good profit that enabled us to buy the house. Then we did all of the work to fix up our house, but that was 28 years ago, and now we are too old to work on ladders--especially in stairwells. Still, when we interviewed painters, that prior experience really shaped our choice. We chose Mark Gurber over two others with similar price bids because he did such a thorough job of inspecting the house and explaining how he would remediate problems so that we would have a lasting paint job. His crew of 3 showed up on time every day and got directly to work, finishing the project in 10-1/2 work days. Their preparation was awesome: very through sanding and scraping, plus beautiful plaster work to fill in holes and problem areas. Also, our house had always been painted throughout with oil-based paint, so they used an oil-based primer that they tinted to the chosen paint colors, to transition between the old oil paint and the new latex paint. The result is that the downstairs of our old house now looks new--and at a significantly lower cost than the prices bid by other Angie's List A-rated painters I contacted.

The carpentry work and new hardware installation was not done well. Some doors bang. Some now have a gap between them. It is obvious where holes were filled. This company normally only does painting (which they are good at). The price kept going up as additional problems with the cabinets were discovered. They got beyond their area of expertise and did a poor job. The owner of the company failed to realize his limitations when it comes to carpentry work. I insisted they come back and fix the original job, which they did but charged me another $150 despite the fact that the cabinets still are not right. I realized that they just can't do any better so I didn't ask them to come back again. I paid for a professional job and didn't get one.

THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH HIRING PAINTERS FOR INTERIOR WORK. EXCEPT FOR SMALL DIY PAINT JOBS, I'M NEVER GOING BACK! THESE GUYS WERE REALLY GOOD - POLITE, ON TIME, ETC. AND THE KITCHEN LOOKS SUPER.
