We liked being able to download a PDF version of the report as soon as it was ready instead of waiting until the mail got to us. The inspector was pleasant but would not discuss things with my wife, he would ask for me when he called and usually look only at me when we reviewed his inspection upon completion.

+ -1 moreDue to a nightmare home buying experience a couple years back we have used a number of inspectors in the past and no one has compared to Hy at Accuspect. He was unbelievable! We hired him based on the glowing reviews from Angie's List and it was money well spent. We are purchasing a 25 year old house that needs a lot of work and he was not only extremely thorough, but he also made suggestions of work we should do now and things that we can wait on. It took a long time (4 hours) to inspect the entire house and he does not miss a beat! He explains everything in detail and gives great recommendations for future care and maintenance. We had the inspection last night and received a link to our report online first thing this morning. The report is extremely detailed and includes pictures of all the problem areas. What a great reference tool for making sure we attend to everything, especially for those of us who aren't so savvy when it comes to home improvement and mechanicals!

+ -1 moreExtremely thorough and professional. The seller's agent admitted he had never seen anything like it! He was our inspector. He was there early and spent 4 hours methodically combing every inch, top to bottom. I highly recommend this company, esp. if you are buying a fixer-upper like we were. It is worth paying a little extra for the piece of mind of knowing every flaw is being taken into account.

+ -1 moreHy was our inspector and was wonderful to work with. He was on time, professional, and patient with us, answering questions and even recommending that we follow him around during the entire inspection so he could explain everything he was looking for. He was incredibly thorough and found several things that we would have never thought of, such as mold in the attic from poor ventilation and the presence of asbestos in the heating ducts. Ultimately, his findings led us to walk away from this deal and avoid some potentially harmful environmental exposures. I will definitely use his services again as we continue our house-hunting! In addition, he was very considerate about returning our phone calls and answering many more questions after the inspection as well. P.S. Accuspect was one of the only inspection companies we found that was able to perform multiple services at once (termite, radon, mold), saving us time and the need to hire multiple companies.

+ -1 moreWe were then very surprised that the report came back negative suggesting no mold in the attic, when visually it was clear that there was. When we tried to talk to Terry and then to Hi about this concern we were first given a list of reasons why this could happen, but was assured the report was accurate. It was only when we sent the pictures of both houses with the mold to Hi that he preformed another test (he did this himself and free of charge). This did confirm the presence of mold. While I would use them again for a home inspector, I would not use them again for mold testing; I would wait until they had more experience.
Description of Work: They did two different home inspections for us. At the first home, Ty walked us very carefully through the entire house and gave us lots of tips and hints for new home maintenance which was all contained in an electronic report that we could easily read and keep for our records. When a problem was found with mold in the attic, he was very professional in terms of talking about it away from the Realtor representing the house. For this we didn't have Accuspect do the mold inspection, but had another company come out to look at it. We used them again and Terry inspected another home for us. (Just a note you don't get a discount for another inspection, it's still full price.) Terry was also very careful in walking us through the house, he didn't share as much verbal information, however all of the information was contained in the written report. Again, mold was found in the attic of this home. Terry informed us that Accuspect was then certified to do the inspection which we had them do.

+ -1 moreAccuspect did a wonderful job inspecting our new home. He arrived at the house prior to the announced time of the inspection and started on the outside. The whole inspection was done in a professional, thorough, and informative manner. We felt like we were on a tour of our house to be! He pointed out numerous things that we had no clue were even there, like the ultraviolet light in our furnace that kills bacteria. Accuspect may cost a little more but it is well worth the money.
Description of Work: House was inspected, mold test was performed, radon test was done, and pest inspection was done.

+ -1 moreThings went extremely well. I selected Accuspect based on the positive feedback provided here. It's tricky finding a good inspector when relocating from out of town and we've had issues previously when we've used agent-recommended inspectors. Our inspector was Haim Naiditch, assigned specifically to us based on his expertise in older structures. Haim showed up on time and was incredibly thorough in his inspection. The amount of information and detail he provides could be overwhelming, except that he takes the time to provide layperson explanations and answer any questions. With another inspector, I would have worried that something might have been overlooked (especially given the age of the house). With Haim, I felt reasonably confident with the results. The only complaint I had was with the scheduler. She didn't get my contact information correct (after confirming it with her), which caused me to miss receiving the appointment confirmation and payment information.
Description of Work: Accuspect performed complete home inspection, including radon detection, for purchase of recently purchased 80-year old house.

+ -1 moreThe phone was answered promptly and work was scheduled on short notice at a convenient time. The inspector arrived early and waited very patiently outside for the seller's realtor to arrive. After the realtor was 45 minutes late, the inspector understandably had to leave for another appointment. He graciously juggled his schedule so that we could meet later that day. The inspector was very thorough and careful to explain what he was doing. He made sure I understood what the issues were and how to maintain the condo. He offered practical suggestions, which were an added bonus. The link to his report was posted at 9:30 p.m., and it was as complete as the sample reports--photos, basic explanations, and specific details about the property. The information was clear and well organized. While I found Accuspect through Angie's List, his name was one of the 2 my realtor was going to give me. The company is outstanding; just the type of organization home buyers need!
Description of Work: The inspector checked out a 1400 sq. ft. condo in Evanston as part of the purchase contract. He examined electrical, plumbing, windows, HVAC, general condition of walls and ceilings and floors, and kitchen appliances and countertops. He did not examine common areas.

+ -1 moreThe home inspection process was great. Terry was at the home when we arrived. He walked us around the the house explaining what looked good, what was in need of repair and basic maintenance information. He was incredibly thorough and professional. Our report was complete and in my email in box by the next morning. The report was much more in depth than my last home inspection 4 years ago. It has photos of the actual areas in the house that he was reporting on as well as diagrams to make things easy to understand. It was very comprehensive.

+ -1 moreThey were very accommodating to our needs. Terry was on time, and got started right away. He was very personable and professional. He walked us through each part of the inspection as he performed it, pointing out what he was looking for, and pointed out updates and repairs that should take priority, and a little bit about how we could do that. For example, he showed us exactly what we needed to do for regular maintenance on the furnace. He took pictures of the things he was inspecting, especially when he found things that were less than optimal. These photos went into their comprehensive report.
Description of Work: On Wednesday, we found out that we needed to complete a home inspection (and attorney review) by 5pm Friday to have our offer accepted over another offer. My wife called five of the higher rated companies on the list, and Accuspect was the only one that could get us an appointment Friday morning. We let them know that we needed at least a summary page the same day, and they said they could do it. Terry met us at the house and completed the inspection. Later in the day, they sent us a link to their website, where the report had been posted, and sent us a CD of the report in the mail.

+ -1 moreThe entire time Hy was inspecting the house we were buying I kept thinking, "Please don't let him inspect the house we are selling." He does a very thorough job, and catches everything. He arrived early and did all the measurements and elevations before we arrived. We spent about 4 hours going over a 1900 square foot house. We actually had to rush him a bit because we had to leave. He photographs most things he points out, and then includes the photos with narrative in your report. The report is delivered via the email as a pdf and then via us mail on a cd-rom. It was 80 plus pages long and very thorough. Happily, he did not inspect the home we are selling. Their inspector was done within 2 hours and didn't find the small incidental stuff that we sweated about.
Description of Work: Inspection of 85 year old, 1900 sq ft house. We needed special attention paid to the HVAC system, which was a hybrid using radiant floor heat, boiler and forced air.

Conducted an extremely thorough inspection, walking us through it step-by-step, explaining what he was doing and why, and providing a detailed explanation of each defect he found. Also provided helpful home maintenance tips along the way. Took digital photos of all his findings, along with general photos of the house. The inspection report is electronic, and within just a few days of the inspection we were provided with a link to the report on the internet, along with our password. Shortly after we received a copy of the report on CD in the mail. I cannot recommend Accuspect, and Hy Nadich, highly enough. This is high-quality, high-technology service. THANK YOU Hy!

+ -1 moreThis was an excellent experience. Hy, the inspector, was extremely detail oriented and thorough in his work. He took the time to explain everything he did and educate us as first time homeowners. The full inspection took a little over 5 hours but was well worth the time. The only complaint was that the inspector did not tell us that he arrives 1 hour early to inspect the exterior of the home. The current homeowner was surprised when he arrived early and a little upset. However, I would strongly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Full home inspection of a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home built in the 1960's. Including radon and termite test.

+ -1 moreThe inspector arrived several hours ahead of the scheduled appointment. As I am the perspective buyer, I arrived only slightly ahead of the appointment. He had already made contact with the seller and had performed the exterior roof inspection.
Description of Work: Inspection of a 3 BR split level home. The overall inspection (with me present) took about three hours, and included the crawlspace, since the home didn't have a true basement. A link to the report was provided the next day, by email, and was extremely detailed (a copy can also be sent directly to your representative). It included closeup photos and descriptions of all potential issues, how they could be resolved, and some home maintenance tips. A cd-rom containing the same report, additional photos, and a ''homeowners manual'' arrived by mail a few days later.

+ -1 moreHIAM NAIDITCH WAS OUR INSPECTOR AND TO SAY HE WAS THOROUGH WOULD BE A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT. THE INSPECTION TOOK FOUR HOURS AND HE LEFT NO STONE UNTURNED (PUN INTENDED). HE TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN ANY QUESTIONS VENTURED AND BROUGHT UP SOME WE NEVER EVEN THOUGHT TO ASK. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS A SMALL EXTRA CHARGE HE TACKED ON BECAUSE HE VENTURED INTO A CRAWL SPACE UNDER THE FRONT PORCH. IT PROVED TO BE A VERY HELPFUL SIDE TRIP AS HE DISCOVERED SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE SUPPORTS AND CONCRETE FOOTINGS, BUT IT NONETHELESS SEEMED LIKED IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE USUAL INSPECTION (ALTHOUGH ACCESS TO IT WAS RATHER TIGHT).

HY NAIDITCH WAS PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, THOROUGH AND THE REPORT CAME THROUGH PROMPTLY VIA E-MAIL, WITH A PRINT REPORT AND CD-ROM A FEW DAYS LATER. THE PRICE MAY SEEM A LITTLE HIGH BUT IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. HY SPENT THREE HOURS WITH ME EXPLAINING POTENTIAL PROBLEMS, RECOMMENDING SIMPLE REMEDIES, LABELING PIPES AND ELECTRICAL BOXES, ALL WHILE TAKING DIGITAL PHOTOS TO INCLUDE IN THE FINAL REPORT. THIS WAS NO PREPRINTED FORM WITH CHECK MARKS, BUT A PERSONALIZED 60+ PAGE BOOKLET THAT INCLUDED PHOTOS AND DIAGRAMS EXPLAINING ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT I COULDN'T LATER REMEMBER. CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE. I JUST HOPE THAT HE'S NOT TOO BUSY WHEN I NEED HIS SERVICES THE NEXT TIME! THEY DIDN''T EVEN NOTICE THAT THE UPSTAIRS OF THE HOUSE HAD NO FIRE ALARMS. THEY''RE A REAL ESTATE AGENT''S BEST FRIEND, AND A HOMEBUYERS''S WORST NIGHTMARE! THE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE VIA THE WEB, WHICH WAS REALLY NEAT, AND THEY HINTED AT THE MAJOR PROBLEMS AND SPOTTED TONS OF MINOR PROBLEMS, BUT THEY MISSED SEVERAL SEVERE ISSUES.
