Description of Work: I called this company based on the recommendation of my neighbor, plus, they are close to my home. I had a terrible ant problem in my kitchen. I left my information on their voice mail, and received a phone call the next day. I gave my information again and I was told someone would get back to me with a date and time of service. By the same time the next day (now 2 days after I originally called for a service call) no one had called me with an appointment time. So, I followed up with them. The same woman I spoke with the first time had no recollection of me, so I gave her my information again, stating that I need someone to come out the next day, which was Friday, and that it had been over 48 hours since my original call and that I would NOT go a whole weekend with an ant problem in my kitchen, with 2 small kids at home. She stated again "someone will call you with a date and time". I told her that if she was not going to get someone to me by the next day, I would call another exterminator. No one called me, so I called another service, who came out at 8 a.m. the next morning. Today, 10 days after I called A Plus to come help me with an ant problem, the same woman called to set up a time for them to come out... NEXT WEEK. 2 Weeks after my original call. Do they think people are happy to live with bugs and rodents in their house, for TWO WEEKS? Customer service and Sense of urgency is atrocious. Update: Rick, the owner called and apologized for the bad service. he came out a few days later and removed a hornets nest on the umbrella over our table on our patio, for no charge. He was lovely and very apologetic. I will give them a nother shot in the future.

+ -1 moreCan't remember exactly how much they charged, so above number may not be accurate. Whatever the cost was, I thought it was reasonable. We have little brown ants in our house every year, and for several years we used A Plus successfully. Company very responsive and I was eager to support their business because they have switched to environmentally friendly materials. However, this year, after several treatments, our ants remain as busy as ever. Technicians gave confusing and conflicting advice about what to do with the cedar oil they left with us.
Description of Work: treated our yard and home with cedar oil and other environmentally friendly treatments -- looking to exterminate little brown ants.

+ -1 moreWe had some kind of animal and used Angie's list to find this company. they came out, put all kinds of traps/boards out and told us to call back in 3 weeks if we were still having problems. Unfortunately, the first person who came out, couldn't tell from the remaining excrement we hadn't cleaned up if it was mice or rats, and mostly put down things to catch mice. It turns out, it was rats, so none of that was working. We were therefore still having many problems 3 weeks later, so they came back out. This was all included in the initial $130. They did let us know what we needed to do to help prevent the rodent problem and they always came in a timely fashion and were very professional. The biggest issue was that due to the original mistake of not knowing which rodent it was, they reproduced in our home, so ultimately, they had to come 4 times and we caught 11 rats. the additional 2 times added up to a total of $45. We believe the rats are now gone. One note is that they did give us multiple options of exactly how to exterminate the animals at each visit and what their specific recommendations were and why. This was very helpful. Also, because I am pregnant (this would also be true if you have small children or pets at home) there was some limit to what methods we could use. We would use them again.

+ -1 moreThe service person showed up as scheduled, and quickly found the nest. He came up with an asthma/child friendly/chemical free plan, and told us what we needed to do before the treatment. We had to drill holes in one bedroom wall (about 15 screw head sized holes), and duct tape our drop basement ceiling to catch any extra dust (we were able to fill in the holes two days later). Then the exterminator came back two days later, and pumped finely ground up rocks in our walls. This causes the yellow jackets to die from dehydration. He also put glue traps outside the opening on our exterior where they were flying in and out. We were given extras to replace the initial large sheet. It worked great, and the problem disappeared in less than a week. There was no odor, and no dust in our home. Also, we had no increase in yellow jackets in our home initially after treatment. We had lots of dead yellow jackets in our basement to clean up, and had to toss the bug covered glue traps. We were very pleased with our experience, and would definitely use this company again and recommend them to others. The price was outstanding for the amount of time and service provided.
Description of Work: We had yellow jackets flying out of our vents on all three floors of our house. The problem was most severe in our toddler's room. It was very scary, but we did not want to have to spray chemicals in our house. The other "green" pest control service we've used in the past said it probably couldn't be done, and would cost over a thousand dollars to try to find the nest in our walls.

We have 2 brand new babies and a toddler in the building in different units and we thought it made sense to avoid using chemicals. They were great and were the only company that did not use chemicals. We were very impressed with the level of customer service.

+ -1 moreThey really worked around my schedule. The first time the guy came out was at 6 p.m., and then the second time, when he made a return visit, he came at 6:30 a.m., before I went to work. Their hours were incredible. The fact that they use all natural products really sold it for me. I have a two-year old, and obviously, I don’t want to be laying poison around the house. The treatment cost me $162 and there was no charge for the follow up visit. The price was more than fair because it was a pretty big job and they came out twice. The guys that came out were professional and punctual. I have already recommended them to others, and I would use them in the future.

+ -1 moreI am very pleased with all aspects of the service. I had been stung repeatedly late Friday by angry wasps. They chased me into my house. On Saturday, knowing I had to get rid of the hive, I went to Angie's List and began calling. I have an organic lawn and don't use chemicals. I was pleased that Rick, the owner of A-Plus answered his cell phone. He told me Robert could come, that he would try to use an environmentally safe spray and do what I wanted. Robert was the nicest person, very calm, very thorough. He handed me the can to read before he started. He worked for over an hour, at one point pulling up a chair to wait for foraging wasps to return to the hive. Before he left, he dug out the sections of hive and showed me eggs in it and explained that was why the wasps were so angry. Robert warned me it might take a few days for wasps to stop trying to return. I saw several the next day and no more after. We had a block party the next day, and I told several neighbors how great a job this company did and without toxic chemicals.
Description of Work: The same day, a Saturday, I phoned Rick, the owner, he sent Robert to destroy an in-ground wasp nest, using environmentally safe spray and lots of patience.

+ -1 moreWe had some ants for a few days after they had sprayed but we haven't seen them since. They had sprayed the outside perimeter of the house and had said that insects would stay away. Within two weeks there were ant hills on the exterior side of our house in the problem area. I called them and they sent someone out to lay some bait. They also left us with a bottle of spray to use whenever needed. I think it's safe to say the ants are gone.

+ -1 moreThat night we had hundreds flying in the house! Many somehow got into the basement and we sprayed them ourselves. They were also flying around the main part of the house (this is a ranch), which was pretty embarrassing as we had guests that night. Thought we got rid of them ourselves but called Rick (the owner) the next day and told him what had happened. He didn't say much other than to let him know if we didn't get rid of all of them. Started to see more flying around and called the following day (Thursday) to get them to come back. They sent the same person back the following evening (after asking if we would wait till Monday for the return visit). When we told the technician what had been happening, he told us no one had told him that we were getting yellow jackets in the house and that he would not have sprayed from the outside if he had known. He would have gone through the attic which he did on this trip. We assured him we had told Rick when we made the appointment but also wondered why he didn't ask the question himself. We had a few more in the house for a couple of days but think (and hope) the problem is now gone.
Description of Work: Needed a yellow jacket nest removed from the attic as we were beginning to get a couple in the house. Advised the owner of the situation, including that we were getting some in the house. He sent someone the next morning who sprayed the nest from the outside and said they should be gone within a day or so. Did tell us if we still had a problem to let them know and they would return.

+ -1 moreVery well. Worker arrived, was very cautious (wore a bee suit) and professional, and informed us to stay indoors throughout the process so we wouldn't get stung. It took about 45 minutes. He disposed of hornet nest and educated us about what to expect in the next few days regarding the bees' behavior.
Description of Work: Removed Hornets' nest in tree and underground yellow jacket nest. Also sold us some cedar mosquito spray for yard at our request.

+ -1 moreI believe they took care of this problem. They were fine for the job. I like the fact that they have a green option, Cedarcide is apparently less toxic.
Description of Work: We had a bee problem. They came and sprayed a specific hole that these carpenter bees created. They also sprayed the perimeter of the house with Cedarcide which is a Cedar Oil that keeps wasps at bay.

They offered me a service with unlimited treatments. I have called them quite a bit, and they keep coming and treating.

+ -1 moreWe had called a different company for three days in a row trying to get them to come out because we had had good service from them about three years ago. That company never responded. So I looked on Angie's List and found A-Plus Pest Control. I called them and the representative told me that we could have someone out here between 3:30 and 3:45. At 2:15 we got a call that said we would have someone here by 2:30. He arrived on at 2:30 on the dot. This representative was very friendly and professional and identified the problem immediately. He explained it clearly to us. He asked for a Dirt Devil and vacuumed up the larvae and cleaned the vacuum. Then he explained how he was going to apply a gel which was designed to kill all the ants in the nest. He explained how it worked and told us to keep the window shut and if possible we should seal it with tape. He said that the nest should be destroyed within fifteen days. He asked us to call them then and someone would come out and inspect it and treat it again if need be. We were very pleased with the fast, friendly and professional service. We would be pleased to use them again if we need to (but we hope we won't need to).
Description of Work: The representative inspected for ants in a bedroom where we had seen them swarming. It looked to us like they were gone, but he immediately saw that there were larvae in the space between the window and the screen. He was very fast and efficient.

+ -1 moreThey were prompt coming out. Very warm and helpful. Told me that carpenter bees were eating the wood but no present infestation so they didn't need to do any work. They didn't even charge for the estimate. Plus they gave me name of handyman to help repair the damage. Also gave me a free bottle of insecticide. That's alot for free!

+ -1 moreI described the problem to A-Plus over the phone and they said I needed to have my entire fence and area sprayed, and quoted me $125 for the job. Then when the tech arrived, he sprayed one small area and said that was all that was needed. They still charged me $100 for this tiny job.

+ -1 moreWe had been fighting ants for several years and could not keep them under control. We decided to have a professional company come in and chose A-Plus. We spoke with the owner of the company (Rick) and he was knowledgeable, informative, and very personable. I was worried about safety, because we have a toddler and several pets, but he was very reassuring and explained in detail how his products were environmentally safe. So, we felt good about having him do the work. Rick treated the inside of the house and Rubin treated the outside. It was successful and we don't see any ants in the house since we've had the work done. We will have them do work again for us. It was a pleasant experience dealing with them.
