I hired US water proofing to fill 3 cracks in our basement wall: I can't comment on the quality of the work coz the cracks were filled last week and we will have tow oat and see how they hold up through the years But I would never hire them again: 1. The workers lie and tell you a completely different story than that of sales person who sold you the job. 2. There is no project manager assigned for your job. its the sales guy who does not visit your site again, and there is no one who will visit and ensure that the job is being done in a satisfactory manner except for the workers. The sales man is pretty clue less about the job once he has completed the sales. 3. The office staff is so rude, when I was trying to explain to her that her worker left the job incomplete - she did not apologize and instead banged the phone on me. 4. The salesman then re scheduled us to complete the work but the office did not call with time the crew will arrive and no one came. But the sales man claims that the workers came and also called me and no one was home. While i have no calls, and no one came. 4. The office, the workers and the sales person are totally unaware of their communication with the client. They all tell you a different story and customer service is horrible. I am extremely disappointed with customer service experience with these guys and my job is still left incomplete. Would never hire them again.

This is a smaller job that wouldn't warrant a "Project Manager". Not sure where the miscommunication occurred here buy we are investigating. In addition, part of the issue we had with the customer was due to the fact we didn't have a signed contract. Regardless, there is no excuse for our office being rude to the customer. We plan to address this issue with our employee.

He walked the property, saw our pits and pumps. Informed me we should install interior drain tiles because exterior tiles will eventually go bad. And install larger sump pits. I asked for a write up and estimate. He said he would email it to me, and i have not heard back. I sent him an email letting him know I hadn't received an estimate, again, never heard back. So, cannot comment on any work since i never heard back on any estimates. Zero follow through. However, he did arrive at specified date and time.

I signed a contract with USW on 8/14/14 to stabilize my sinking foundation with piers. I paid a $4750 deposit by check. I was promised by Chris Nava and another Chris that the work would begin by the 1st week of October, 2014 as I had to rebuild my deck for emergency egress before winter set in. a few weeks later, I added two change orders: 1. add two more piers. 2. Remove and replace the front stairs(they were sinking and pulling the front wall away from the house). I was assured(once again) that US waterproofing(USW) does NOT hire any subcontractors and that they have their own concrete division. In mid September of 2014, i removed my entire rear deck to provide access to USW to set the piers in the rear of my house. After not hearing anything from USW by mid October got on the phone with my contact Chris Nava. He told me that they wouldn't be able to schedule my work until mid-December! I was extremely irate. I got on the phone with both of the owners, Barry and Matt, and they explained to me that they were experiencing "growing pains". After a few phone calls back and forth between myself and Barry and a V.P. named Chris S. it was agreed upon that USW would do the work right after thanksgiving and Chris S. promised me that I would receive a 10% reduction in the price of my contract($2k) for my troubles. I agreed not to cancel my contract with USW. Work began the day after thanksgiving and lasted a few days. The house shook for hours as one end was lifted and then slammed down repeatedly. The piers were set and the house lifted but nowhere close to being level as originally promised. Chris Nava told me it was too late in the year and too cold to remove and replace my front stairs and I was assured that they would be done the first thing in the spring of 2015. I paid another $6k by credit card to USW the 1st week of December which left me with a balance of roughly $10k. two weeks later, Chris Nava asked me to make another payment, to satisfy the first portion of the contract. He said that they needed the the foundation work to be paid in full before the end of the year. I agreed to make another $6k payment( in late Dec 2014, by credit card, to satisfy that portion of the contract. Chris Nava said we were paid in full for the foundation work and all that we had left to pay for was the concrete removal and replacement, roughly $3500. As I was replacing the deck, I noticed that during the setting of the piers, I had some significant cracking of my foundation wall and that USW never performed the epoxy injection on the cracks that I already had per the contract( 2 free cracks filled). They also did not supply me with the pier logs within 30 days of the piers being set, as per terms and conditions of the contract. When I brought this to the attention of Chris N. he told me that will all be taken care of in the spring, when the stairs get removed and repoured. Fast forward to Spring 2015. I was informed by Chris N. that USW would be beginning work on my stairs the first week of April. They came out and removed dirt and clay from one side of stairs. Instead of laying down plywood to protect my landscaping, they piled it all up on finished landscaped areas, behind retaining walls. It took them 2 days to remove the stairs. they said that a crew will be out the next day to frame the stairs. Well, that did not happen due to "truck trouble".A couple of days later, the crew finally showed up without the necessary work permit frpm my village. I turned them away. a couple of days went by and the necessary work permit was obtained listing USW as the contractor. Work began and I complained that the footings were only 18" deep and not the 42" required. They began pouring the stairs without addressing the problem of footing depth and without putting lubricant, aka "lime juice", on the forms. I tried to inform them that the concrete will stick to the forms, but, again, no response. The pour was done. The sat around waiting til 4 pm to allow concrete to cure. When they poured into the forms, they did not vibrate them, as they should have. Concrete stuck to the forms, creating what is known as honeycombing. They finished the exposed side, but the side that has the landscaping they just left it. the finishing work on the treads and risers was also deficient, i.e. sharp edges where tread and riser meet the side wall. I had to run inside quickly and in the 5 minutes I was gone, the crew had packed up and took off. Further, I had some nice unilock pavers neatly stacked out of the way and they took them and threw them in the piles of dirt and clay, breaking and chipping them. I had planned on putting those back in next to my new stairs, but many of them are damaged. The following day I informed Chris N. that the work was deficient. I set up an appointment that was convenient for the 2 of us a few days later. In the meantime, the stairs didnt look straight. I took some measurements and found out that, indeed, the stairs were 2" out of square with my house. Further, the stairs are not plumb either. On both sides, at the highest point, the landing bows to the center 3/4", meaning that they didn't bother to place a vertical level on the forms before pouring. So, the day of our meeting, Chris N. showed up with a concrete expert from USW. They both agreed that the honeycombing on the landscaped side of the stairs is an issue that could cause failure of the concret when moisture gets in and expands and contracts. They offered some type of remedy that I would have accepted if not for the other issues. It was then that Chris N. informed me, for the first time, that they had used a sub contractor for this work. I pulled out the change order, signed by both of us, which reads: "USW to remove and replace front stairs". I informed Chris N. that I was not happy. I do not deal with sub contractors that I have not had the time to investigate thoroughly. I reminded him that both he and Chris S. sat at my dining room table and swore that they do not use subs. I also informed him that, if i knew that they were going to sub this work out, I would NOT have hired them to do ANY of my work. I wanted to fire them on the spot but, under the Illinois Home repair and Remodeling Act, I must give them a reasonable chance to fix the deficiencies. About a week later, Chris N. texted me and asked me if the concrete sub can come by and investigate the stairs. I told him no. I explained that I will be busy that day and that I did not want a guy who I have know idea who he is poking around my house. I informed Chris N. that the 3 of us would meet together. The following Monday, Chris N. informed me that the sub showed up anyway. the guy, Fermin, owner of D & D Concrete, is guilty of criminal trespassing. I again told Chris N. verbally that noone from D & D or USW is to be at my house without my approval & I would file charges if it happened again. Chris N. explained that D & D would remove and replace the stairs at no extra cost, that USW was going to pay for it. i was still upset that some strange guy that I don't know and did not have a chance to investigate, showed up at my home, while I was away but leaving my wife home with our two small children. Chris N. then said that, in regards to the stairs, "You are picky and particular." Really? I do not think that asking for a professional job to be done when I am paying for a professional job to be done is "picky and particular". Anyway, that conversation took place mid-April, 2015. I remembered that I still must give them the opportunity to fix their mistakes, so I agreed to let D & D replace the stairs. two months later, after numerous excuses, having to cancel both of my sons' birthday parties, a warning from the village about the continued deplorable condition of my front yard, and the inability to have my kids outside to play, I had enough. I was forced to fire USW. This was mid June 2015. I had to purchase a sealer for the stairs( as the concrete was never sealed), some hydraulic cement to patch the honeycombs, some flashing, to protect the honeycombs from moisture, and I had to replace the large piles of clay and soil that had been sitting there for over 2 months. The problem is, during the rain, the clay seeped down into the previously mentioned unprotected finished landscaped area , not only ruining the soil, but also ruining the retaining wall holding it up. This will cost in excess of $1000. Further, I have to pay for someone to haul away the huge pile of gravel that they left on my front lawn and resod my lawn from where they left that pile for over 2 months. Since all of this, I have spoken with the owner, Barry Schilling via phone and email, and, while he never came out to inspect the situation(shows how much he really cares), he was willing to waive the cost of the stairs. But, he was demanding almost $2500 more to satisfy the foundation work. I informed him of the previous conversations I had with Chris N. and Chris S. about the 10% discount from last year and that I was paid in full back in December 2014. They all deny that those conversations took place. Further, after informing Chris N. in April 2015 that nobody from USW or D & D Concrete is allowed on my property without my consent, they have shown up multiple times. I also informed Barry that they have not fulfilled the terms of the contract and I consider them to be in breach, as the have yet to fill the two free cracks and supply me with the pier logs. They have now hired an attorney demanding that I pay them for the crappy job on the stairs as well as the work that has yet to be completed. Further, the village has informed me that the work permit is invalid because USW did not perform the work. UPDATE this matter was resolved amicably with U.S. Waterproofing to the satisfaction of the parties.

We are in a dispute with this customer. Much of the information provided by the customer is inaccurate. They have not paid us for work that was completed. And also haven't given us the opportunity to fix what they didn't like. We did hire an attorney to resolve this (which is something we almost never have to do!). So there are 2 sides to this story. We are a multiple year recipient of Angie's List Super Service Award and always strive to do right by the customer!

Sales agent came out and gave me a sales pitch. Sent me the wrong contract without the correct agreed upon prices. Never sent me a new one until I contacted him twice about it. Scheduling was supposed to call me to schedule a time for service. I had to call them to set up date and time. I got a card to call the day before to get a time window when they were supposed to come out. I called at 1:30pm the day before and could not get ahold of anyone. It was suppose to be done in two trips. It took three because the scheduling lady didn't order four window coverings but only two. Then in the end, I get an email saying they never charged my credit card for the deposit when clearly in my account it shows that they did. I don't understand how anything is the done at this company. It's mistake after mistake. Next time I would probably go with someone else. If the company itself is this unorganized, I can't imagine them sticking by their warranties.

The estimator was curteous and prompt, and discussed his recommended solution for our home. He provided and estimate on the spot, but then persisted on trying to get me to sign a contract on the spot despite my telling him that I would not do that. After a few attempts, I told him that if he did not drop it that I would ask him to leave. He asked me if he could foillow-up, and I asked him to give me a week to gather some more information. US Waterproofing proceeded to call me and e-mail me daily for the next few business days in spite of my request to not contact me. I sent them an e-mail to not contact me anymore, and that if I decided to move forward I would contact them. They have continued to call me and contact me. It's obnoxious and I would not recommend them. Not only have they used "hard sales" tactics, but I found other very reputable service providers that offer the same solution for much less. Now they leave me messages about giving me a "serious discount", and I just want them to leave me alone.

Wow - what a difference! Two gentlemen came out to perform the work. We had a standard sump hole which was not large enough to accommodate an additional unit in the hole (back-up unit). I was concerned because they would be drilling into the cement floor in my basement to enlarge the hole. This is the same room as my furnace. I was concerned that a lot of dust would be created by the cement drilling and they assured me that it should not be a concern. They had dozens of buckets to remove the old cement and a vacuum cleaner to clean up the mess and contain any dust. They installed a special liner into the hole and raised the sump by about 3 inches from it's previous height (city code). They also cemented around the new liner. The new liner has a cap on it with at least a dozen screws. Maybe it is my imagination, but I feel like I am not seeing any bugs in my home now because everything in the sump is so self-contained. They redesigned the way the water was leaving the sump to the outside and left me a happy customer. I cannot say enough good things about US Waterproofing and would have them back in a nanosecond if needed.

Because the leak happened in the evening when the office was closed, I was still able to explain to Nicole the problem at hand. She was so reassuring, and gave us such hopeful information. My husband and I called the next morning as soon as the office opened. I talked to Dawn, and she was very helpful and listened with such care for the problem we encountered. After talking to her manager, they were able to come up with a wonderful plan. Dawn gave me her "Direct Line Number"so I could reach her quickly with any further concerns we might have. We felt that US Waterproofing went "the extra mile" to give us the help we needed. She called to tell us that they set up the schedule for someone to come out the next day. In the afternoon of March 12,2015, Fernando came to our home. He was so professional, and he showed us what the deep crack in the basement wall looked like after he began removing the original urethane grout repair. He was so patient and explained everything he was doing along the way. Each step and the material he used gave us such an education, and when we asked questions, he responded with a positive attitude. Fernando was very meticulous and left the work area clean and neat. We were happy with the service we received from start to finish. Thank you.

Herb Blackmon was our first point of contact with US Waterproofing. He provided a detailed explanation of what was causing the leak in our basement. Herb was very knowledgeable and explained the issues we were facing in a manner that was easy to understand. He presented us with several options and we decided to install the drain tile system in our entire basement as well as a new concrete floor. The job took about a week to complete. It was originally supposed to take about 48 hours but when we decided to have a new floor installed and to have the old floor dug out to gain a few inches of height in the basement it extended the time of the job. The crew arrived promptly every day and began by breaking up and removing the old floor. Once that was done they began the process of installing the drain tile system and digging out the dirt/sand to gain additional ceiling height. Once that was complete they dumped the rocks and gravel and began laying the concrete floor. We were very satisfied with the work of US Waterproofing from start to finish. Herb was an awesome salesman. He was knowledgeable without being undermining and pushy and he was patient and gave us great advice about how we were to proceed. The crew was hardworking and professional. I would recommend US Waterproofing to anyone seeking to address leaky basement issues or have a new floor installed. The quality of their work enabled us to be able to remodel our basement.

They were very kind and very professional. They had to move my water tank and when the water tank was supposed to be moved back the crew laser said I think you better of leaving your water heater where they moved it. I said well I don't think about that and they thought about it and my son took a look and he said you know madam I think the guy was right. They took care of that when it was moved they used temporary hose. They had to shut water for about an hour each time when they turned it off they moved it when they turned it off the second time what they did was remove hose and put permanent tubing. I thought they did a very fine job for me. I would recommend them highly as everybody not does this kind of work. They did pretty well for me. They gave me the most honest way to fix my problem. They were very expensive, but there aren't that many companies that deal with kind of things, so I had to go with them. The responsiveness was very good. They were very punctual. I would use them in the future, if needed.
Description of Work: I used US Waterproofing in December. It was a very major work. They secured by one foundation wall, softening and sinking. I just thought it was what I had like a crack that had to be filled. The man from them said there is something else going on and they have one of their foundation guys come out and he measured and they had a guy that they work with and there is certain amount of deviation measured with laser light and mine was within the parameter of fixing from the inside rather than fixing the foundation from the outside, which would have meant to take my patio apart and dig the foundation from outside and support the concrete from there. It took them three and three and a half days.

I like them. I had work done with them when I first purchased my home. That was like maybe in the late part of '99 and early part of 2000. They do guarantee their work. When I called them back a few years later, they came over, inspected the area, and realized that that was the area that they had worked on previously. So, my charge was just a service charge instead of hundreds of dollars that I thought I was going to be paying. It ended up being $21. They actually do exactly what they say they are going to do.
Description of Work: I had work done with US Waterproofing. I had some areas in my basement for some reason the home inspection did not see the cracks. They found the cracks, showed me everything, explained to me their procedure, and gave me the opportunity to decide whether or not I would go ahead with the service.

the original appointment for the work was on 10/28/14 . the 3 hour window when the workers were to arrive was 10 to 1. they arrived at 1. they could of been a little more clear that they were stopping for lunch. we did have to sacrifice work time to do this. we sat there all day for them to arrive in the late afternoon. the sub soil membrane for the west side of the house almost didn't get completed. there was confusion between the workers, contract, and office. the workers almost left without doing the job until we intervened. it was quite tense for a while, because they wanted to charge us more money, etc. our house is build in 1957 and for some reason there is a cement lip that extended out from the house. they knew this going in to the work as they had done the same job on the south and east sides of our house the prior year. we have the saved contracts to show them. the window well extension was another story. the workers cut down the original window well to get the extension put on; however, the salemans measurements of the existing window well was not correct, the extension they brought with did not fit. the window well is 37" and they brought an extension that was 37", this cannot physically fit around the backside of the widow well. it needs to be bigger. this happened last year when they did the east side of the house, but it was fixed quickly. after the workers left, we did not hear back within a day or so, so we called the office to find out what is going on and when we would get the window well fixed. we were concerned as the well was set so low that rain could find its way into the basement very easily. the company informed us that the window well will need to be ordered and it would take two weeks. we covered the window well with plywood and tarp to protect it from the elements. in two weeks, we received a call from the company to schedule the window well extension. we scheduled the installation on 12/2/14. The company sent us a reminder post card that they would be out that day. They arranged JULIE to mark the underground wires etc as needed on 11/26/14. we were anticipating their arrival on 12/2/14. we called that day to get the '3 hour window' of arrival and the scheduler told us 'we are not on the schedule for today (12/2/14)'. we were upset at the disconnect this between customer service. we made arrangements to take yet another day off. we asked the customer service person to have a manger call us to explain what is going on. no one has called. we are left with a window well that is cut down below ground level with a board over it to protect it from the elements (snow now instead of rain and potential flooding). as for the price, we used them twice before and felt the salesman gave us an 'angies discount' that really wasn't. nothing was written as a side item discount, just 'all discounts applied' on the contact, not really telling us what the discount amount is. when we used the previously, a different salesman written on the contract how much the discount was in a line item.

The crew came when they said they would. They were extremely neat. They cleaned up both inside and outside the house after each day of work. They placed boards over some ground ivy near the house so they did not tromp it down while carrying material to and from the basement. This review is being written about a month after the work was done, including some rainy days. So far, the basement has stayed dry.
Description of Work: In October 2014, they installed drain tile under the perimeter of our basement floor, and a sump pump. We had previously had seepage at the intersection of our old stone foundation and the basement floor. They obtained the required permits for a) installing drain tile; b) installing the sump pump; and c) covering drain tile and gravel with new concrete. They did the work over two days. On the first day they jack hammered a trench in the concrete at the perimeter of the floor, installed the drain tile, placed gravel over it, and installed a new sump pump and drain tube to the back yard. After the building inspector OK’d that work, they covered the tile and gravel with new concrete. On the second day, they did the concrete work.

I made an appointment 2 months in advance due to high volume of calls which was understandable, was advised that the appointment will be confirmed 1 day prior. I phone 2 days before just to ensure that the time off of work will not be wasted and found out that they have no record of my call and I can make another appointment end of November.

US waterproofing had installed a second sump pump in our home with the previous owner. We had an issue with the pump discharge of the first (Non US waterproofing) pump and since the one they installed seemed to be fine, I contacted them to see if they could remedy the one in question. I called and was transferred to Chris. He was upfront that they were very busy (contact was first in mid-Sept) and that they couldn't get an appointment to review in person for 3-4 weeks. But Chris was nice and offered to have me send him photos and a summary of the issue via email to take a look at in the meantime. I promptly did so that night and followed up 2 times via email to check in. I then called Chris again a week later and he apologized and said he gets "100s of emails" but would look and respond. Another week passed with no response. I finally emailed again 4 weeks after the initial discussion, saying how rude I thought this process was. Chris promptly responded and said how busy they were and that he'd be happy to try to schedule something right away. Of course I replied immediately asking to do so and asked for options on available days. 2 weeks have since passed with, disappointingly, no response. Obviously I've moved on and contracted the work with another company. US Waterproofing WAS a reputable company and had done work on the property so I wanted to give them every chance to provide a recommendation. But after over a month of silence and repeated follow ups, I decided I had to at least post my experience (I rarely post negative reviews). It might be the result of a busy time period (or just an unorganized sales person), but that doesn't not excuse disrespectful behavior like this. It sounds like they do good work if you can reach them, too bad I didn't have that chance.

We had originally purchased a Big Deal for waterproofing because we were getting some water through the basement foundation. They really wanted to sell us a drain tile and sump pump, and after much thought we decided to move forward. I was honestly against it - it was more than I had planned to spend, and a lot more project. However, we have been the driest basement on the block for the past two years since we installed it. During the spring rains of 2013 we had a total lake in the backyard, and not one drop of water in the basement. US Waterproofing was easy to work with - they were clear about exactly what they were going to do to our basement. They did a wonderful job on install - kept everything clean, and finished the whole job in one day. In the end, I am so very glad we did it. I would definitely recommend their services - the work was solid.

No work was done as our decision was to wait this one out.
Description of Work: The first point of contact was their receptionist. She was very polite, listened intently to my situation and worked with me. I'm sure they receive several calls a day with people who are so flustered and in an urgent situation, however, not once did she make me feel like my problem was not as critical as it was to me. An appointment was made. Shortly after that I received a call from Charles, he was great, he too listened to my situation and once again handled me an my situation professionally. He confirmed our appointment and then made sure I had his contact information. He also followed up by sending me an e-mail with information and his contact information. On the day of the appointment Charles, arrived on time. He reviewed the situation, and then sat down and explained everything that would need to be done. He took the time to answer all the questions I had and not once made me feel bad for asking him questions about a process I knew little about. An estimate was provided and he also made sure to let me know there were other options available for payment if they were needed. For a situation that was not good for me, it was a pleasure meeting with Charles and through our conversation, my agitation went down. Should the situation worsen, we will definitely be reaching out to US Waterproofing again!

That was one company that we had a really good experience with. We found them on Angie?s List and they have good reviews. So we contacted them online. They came out and looked at the property and gave us suggestions. Then they recommended that we change the window covers. They did not charge us for the initial visit. Then we called them back in September to do the job. They custom made our window covers because they are not the same sizes. I was not sure how much they charged but I know that it was nothing out of the extra ordinary. They were very prompt.
Description of Work: We used the services of US Waterproofing. They cleaned water in our basement due to the storm. They sorted out the problem we had in our basement. They also put in new window covers for us.
